Dean you are well loved. You got me through the knowledge. I wish you well. Great advise as always sad that social media is used some to tarnish the trade. We should stick together what we have in common is the #Knowledge
I appreciate that, None of this actually affects me emotionally. I wanted to make the point more for the fact that some great minds are not contributing great ideas and discussion because they feel its not worth it, due to these school boy antics of abuse rather than points of view.
Mate, I’m on my way home I’ve had to pull over and write this I think you’re doing a great job like you I’ve been in the trade since 1993 and yes since then the trade has been pulling in directions never as one, so keep doing what you’re doing You make my day enjoyable watching your UA-cam videos don’t let them get you down all the best
Well thats just lovely 😀 Thank you Darren. My hope is that we can just unite and be more supportive like the days in the 90s. If you had a problem with a driver you sorted it there and then or moved on.
Thanks for everything you do and have done 👏🏼 my biggest mistake on the knowledge was not coming to you from day one... I had some tough times on my journey and you was always there with positive advice to keep me going 🙌 you are a credit to the trade! 🚖
And I must add , over the years you have put many thousands through the knowledge, and always give great advice, even when your abroad you always answer the phone or messages to help students,I think that says it all ,your a great ambassador for the knowledge and overall for the trade .Thanks for all the hard work and support, you put in keeping and protecting the knowledge.💯
Well said Dean. As a Wizann alumni, i have always regarded you as one of the top figures having a voice for this trade. During the K, I followed and added many a driver on Twitter.....then once out, I spent many a month deleting and blocking many more! Addressing the trolling and perceived attitude of many is very much necessary, moreso to protect the image of what I beleive to be the majority of the trade still - the good apples! Ty sir
We need to unite on the shared problems in the trade not our differences. A good example I heard from Rory Sutherland on the classic “cyclists vs taxis” rather than an us vs them attitude, he advocated for the idea that we unite on a common problem.. I.e. pot holes… it’s bad for drivers, bad for cyclists. We need to do the same within our trade. Leave the small, petty and trivial things behind. But all row in the correct direction to improve the trade.
Thank you Tom, We have some very intelligent, articulate and charismatic people in our trade and we need to hear more from them. As it is i feel they are being silenced by a lethargy caused by those who are not too good at expressing ideas but are great at school boy abuses. I think slowly slowly we have to work to rebuild our ideas and image.
You're a credit to the trade and you should just ignore the stupid drivers who try to put you down. Keep those great videos coming and please 3:06 keep the school going as it helped me and has helped hundreds if not thousands of other drivers.
Thank you Shads, I have and always will ignore these types, but the issue is now we need more sensible voices to stand up and talk for the trade and shame those bad voices to the back. We need to make sense and argue with eachother respectfully and not in the fashion of school children. We have allowed it to go on too long.
Dean, I've come to know you well over the years, and I can say with confidence that you are a genuinely decent person with the trade's best interests at heart. It's unfortunate that sometimes people may express ignorant or emotionally driven comments without fully understanding the facts. The taxi industry has faced, and continues to face, a myriad of challenges. However, for its continued prosperity, it's essential for us as cabbies to work together in a positive manner. By joining forces, we have the potential to achieve favorable outcomes collectively. Keep up the excellent work, and I look forward to more of your podcasts.
I will do Paulo and I know you will grow to be a real force and voice in this industry. It is the likes of your self whose voices should become prominent in our trade and over time we can start to sound much more sensible.
Well said deano. Its got to shift, i got a horrible bit of advice to ‘pack it in’ whilst out on my bike last week. Told the bloke to stick it. I know the benefits of the job.
I was getting the same when I started doing the knowledge around 10 years ago , now a cabbie I always encourage knowledge students when I see them. I will admit that the job is far from perfect, but still somewhat a decent one
the trade in general has gone to crap in my area flooded with birmingham cars down here in essex carnt stand side by side when the rules are not the same and we dont have the same costs.. there wont be any professional essex cabs left imo
That is extremely sad to hear. London should be the protector of the cab trade country wide but sadly it is too fragmented. We need to slowly unite together and we should have had a national Taxi union years ago
Sadly the trade has always slated one another. The radio circuits at odds with other radio cicuits. They slated Halo when it first came about. The unions at odds with other unions. This twitter lark or whatever its now called makes it easy for bored and angry drivers to vent their frustration on other drivers for what may be minor indiscretions and as you point out there are 2 sides to every story. My old cab driver friend always used to say ' the cab trade used to be united but then they issued the second badge'. Whilst fighting against each other they have taken their eye off of the real problems. Private hire in London is not like private hire in other parts of the country. In London they are in reality licensed mini cabs. The public don't see the difference anymore and Sadly black cabs have lost the PR battle. I've packed up after doing 39 years. I used to love being a cab driver in London but now hate driving in London after whats been done to it. I now have a very easy stress free job. I don't miss it a bit, but I do miss how it used to be.
Thank you Tony that is a very well written and thoughtful opinion. I think its very hard for those like us as we get long in the tooth to get pleasure from the trade when we have seen so much. I will keep fighting to make drivers better and try to silence those whose voices add no value to our trade. I also miss how it used to be. Very glad you are doing well. Best Wishes Dean
Dean I was a very committed Taxi Driver and was proud to be one of the best Taxi Drivers in the world. Sadly these youngsters don't appreciate our knowledge and think a sat nat is better than the knowledge. It's not. They are an aid to maybe spot where the traffic is but that's it. My son is a musician who used to go on the demos with his friend also the son of a Taxi Driver. UA-cam Anti uber song. Click on it when you see a white prius. He gave the song to the Taxi trades worldwide. It was used in Australia but none of the London taxi unions have. All the best and good luck.
Twitter Keyboard warriors 🤣🤣 Had a few of them 😂 Met one and shook his hand then told him who I was 🤣 That was a fun interaction and not the Keyboard warrior bravery then. Well said Dean 👍
Thank you John. My issue is that it shuts down genuine conversations about genuine problems. People who would normally have great thoughts and ideas don't come forward because they feel its not worth the abuse they may get.
Who is this Sean Ear? You make yourself look like a 12 year old on social media 😂 Dean, keep doing what you're doing, you're a great advocate for our trade. Lovely video once again❤
@@WizAnn320 same as when orgs don't endorse demos with their members. Members should adhere to certain guidelines of being cabbies and being part of a trade. This would stop a lot of people being as people call it (keyboard warriors)
Took many heartakes to gain the badge that gives me a great income and relaxes my life's stresses. Those that use their emotions towards social media should check themselves and just chill out ffs....there will be an idiot here and there for sure but most of the time when i find someone has jumped a queue or broken etiquette, when approached there is usually an accidental reason why it happened.....best to speak to a driver before ranting on social media as it turns the trade and discussions into a sour zone. Enjoy your job, control your stresses and live life!😎
Well done Dean getting sick and tired of those that have too much to say about dividing this trade!!!!
Yes lets be sensible and talk together like adults it shouldn't be too hard

Well said Dean, you have done great things for the trade. Keep delivering the great podcasts 👍🏻
Thank you Kieran, Much appreciated. I will keep going whilst its still enjoyable. I think we are winning

Thanks! Will do!
Dean, they have always said, the people that will destroy the cab trade are cab drivers themselves!!
Absolutely true, Narcissists and egotists are the loudest voices and this will always be the downfall of most things
You are a top man Dean
That is very nice of you
I also think that any driver who is part of a union should not be allowed to post stuff like this on socials as it makes the trade look bad.
Thats actually not a bad idea, Guys in a trade org are representing that org when they speak so there should and could be consequences
