The "u turn of shame?" That's nothing Mark. Back in the day when I drove an artic I had an early Monday delivery to a branch of a certain DIY store in Newcastle. Got up at three, dosed myself with coffee and set off half asleep on the long trek up the A1. I hadn't read the delivery note correctly. It was the wrong Newcastle. I had to go 200 miles back down the road to Newcastle under Lyme in Staffordshire. Boss was not exactly pleased. Be lucky.
Mark, try doing a u turn of shame in a Double Decker Bus.🤣 I did a route which I wasn't familiar with and didn't check the roadworks on the notice board before I left. I admitted my mistake and said it was my first day.... The 2nd one was a little White lie. My first day was 27 years ago. I love your content and I have total respect for our London Cabbies.
This is a great channel, you have a very laid-back, easy going style. Very easy to watch. I'm not a cab driver, but just watch because it's fascinating. Have subscribed!
Great vid as always Mark. Someone mentioned last video about adjusting your channel name with the word Taxi in there, I think it’s a great idea. Also, with your tip I think I’ve just found my new fave toilet. 😊👍🏻
Personally - I always think using the motorways to an airport is extremely risky because if anything happens you are absolutely stuck and can’t do anything - can’t even turn round.😮 from West London, I go Barnes and then Roehampton then the Ewell bypass then Kingswood and come out at the back of Reigate then just drop down through Horley and you can come in the back of the airport
Great video , Mark there’s no shame in making mistakes , I remember being in a cab with an old boy and from Pimlico road he was heading down lower Sloane st and wanted to go through the park , I politely asked him to go via park Lane , if you blank out and can’t see a line or remember a street name , check the map, don’t u know that the gp’s Google info , as they talk to u
Just subscribed as I subscribe to all of your colleagues. Each of you are equally interesting and as an ex-cabbie of 19 years service it just takes me back to my own career in a small provincial City.
Well done mark Long time since Kensal rd knowledge school Last saw u on Xmas day working about 10 Years ago I reckon £125 to Gatwick that’s cheap price I’m dearer than that 😂😂😂love the vids
1 Xmas roads was gridlock with star gazers , I had to re route cos of Traffic , Punter made an exaggerated complaint I still cannot see how it was my fault with all the disruptions ,
Do you ever use the FreeNow app at Gatwick? Are you allowed to do so as it's outside your licensed area? A friend told me that London taxis can only accept bookings when within their licensed area. The FreeNow app at Gatwick allows me to book a London taxi at Gatwick but I've never been successful.
next to the hole in wall was a small cartoon cinema belonging to the Disney Corporation outside were pictures of Donald, Mickey Pluto plus others mostly painted by my father also a Cab Driver like myself
London taxi drivers aren’t permitted to rank at Gatwick. The airport is in West Sussex outside the London administrative area and has an exclusive deal with a private hire company.
Nissan Dynamo. It is still in traffic. How about making a video on that car and perhaps interview an owner? In Oslo I am hardly ever under 15 punters a day. My record is back in 1992 with 44 jobs in 18 hours.
Taxiapp stolen from the many and taken by the few. Such a shame but I’ll never use it for that reason. No commission but there’s a set monthly fee whether you get work on it or not

Good video as always - Cheers from the USA

Yep already in the process of changing the channel name and banner, enjoy the gold taps!

Yes Park Lane sounded like the better call, and no problem telling the driver, I prefer the customer input tbh thanks for watching!

Kensal road! Wow those were the days! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Fantastic video, have only just discovered your utube channel, simply love it, fascinating.....keep up the good work 😊
Should have used the electric and charged up at the new charging hub at Gatwick. It was only 19p / kw the other week
I need to find that!
Coming back empty from Gatwick is annoying, they should let black cabs pick up there. They call themselves "London" Gatwick.
I know! It’s a real trek back into town from there
Love your videos.
Great post 🎉
Thanks for this
Hi mark brilliant video nothing less from you
Luv the videos mark can you do some videos on doing the knowledge maybe😊
Filming next month an episode about the life of a knowledge student
1 Xmas roads was gridlock with star gazers , I had to re route cos of
Traffic , Punter made an exaggerated complaint I still cannot see how it was my fault with all the disruptions ,
Yep sometimes they think you’re pulling a fast one when all you’re doing is avoiding the roads works! I’ve been there
Great channel btw
How do we book a cab for a private booking?
Well I would direct you to Taxiapp you can book with them in London metropolitan district. Or ask for a drivers number when you ride
Hey Mark why did you not jump on M3 and then the 316????
Googled the route before hand and just came up with m4 m25 I guess because it was really early, thanks for watching 🙏🏻

I do have the app, and had it switched on when I was there sadly no ping
Is the puncture you have at the beginning not giving you the jitters?
I had 2 new tyres put on 2 weeks ago, this is just an erroneous massage that appears after a tyre change, thanks for watching!
next to the hole in wall was a small cartoon cinema belonging to the Disney Corporation outside were pictures of Donald, Mickey Pluto plus others mostly painted by my father also a Cab Driver like myself
I’ve just Google that old cinema, what an interesting building such a shame it was demolished. Thanks for watching
Why is your seat belt so low on the shoulder mate?
Well spotted yes it’s always been like that, I’m not very big to it just seems to slip down
Why didn't you rank up at Gatwick? Long wait?
London taxi drivers aren’t permitted to rank at Gatwick. The airport is in West Sussex outside the London administrative area and has an exclusive deal with a private hire company.
Can’t rank up there, only pre booked or app jobs. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Nissan Dynamo. It is still in traffic. How about making a video on that car and perhaps interview an owner? In Oslo I am hardly ever under 15 punters a day. My record is back in 1992 with 44 jobs in 18 hours.
44 jobs! Thats a good day! I’ll take a look at the Dynamo for you and thanks for watching
I wonder how long this chap has had his bill.I been cabbie for 39 years and never seen him before on the road.
20 years! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
When I’m walking up to a taxi rank n London, can I insist on a real Black taxi to ride in? How does that work? Thank you.
By real you mean the older tx4? As opposed to the electric taxi or Mercedes?
Alvin 😂
Grosvenor house most over ranked hotel in london, madness when they use the phone gang and got their own car service 😢
Exactly!
Taxiapp stolen from the many and taken by the few. Such a shame but I’ll never use it for that reason. No commission but there’s a set monthly fee whether you get work on it or not
I pretty sure there is absolutely no fee/sub to pay at all. At least I don’t. Customer pays a flat £4,00
What made you become a GB by the way.
GB?
@@Markstaxidiaries Green Badge.
Your dashboard spells tyre correctly, but not centre 🤷♂️
Well spotted!
You don’t have GPS?
Yes but never use it in town, maybe to just check the traffic
..........and you were being watched by 2 coppers!!
Haha yes the ones outside the Egypt embassy
Hey, Mark. Really enjoyed the video but could you do me, and maybe others, a favour by slowing down your route videos - please.
Andrew from Melbourne
No - keep the speeded up routes.
Well definitely take a bit of pace off it, thanks for watching! 🙏🏻
@@Markstaxidiaries I think the pace is fine.
