    Keep talking to people, walk in the park, call family if you can for a chit chat, share your feelings (don't keep them bottled in), and no 30 year old has a house now. Maybe you know a few, so do I, but most nowaways are struggling, living in house shares or with parents, no savings. I'm 28, living in my older brothers spare room for low rent, have an enjoyable but low paying part time job, but will have to move out soon when my bro starts a family. We keep chugging along.

      You are spot on! so many people are in the same boat aren't they? i could write an essay in response to your comment, something i want to talk about in future videos. I think a lot of people (men moreso) are struggling with social connections.

    Happy I came across your video! And I agree both with the other comments and with your take on consistency. It is a crazy world we live in, and all we can do is try and do our best! Feeling stressed out and not sleeping well doesn't have to be the end of the world, as long as it is only for a short time. I hope you'll find a new place soon, and I'm sure you'll be able to relax a whole lot with a better idea of how the next few months are going to go.
    Having to find and finance a new place to live after being without a job for a while, that's double rough! Do you think you're on track to pull it off one way or another? Would you be open to, or have you already looked into, some form of crowdfunding to help you out?

    • @GammageBenjamin
      @GammageBenjamin  4 місяці тому

      Hey thanks! appreciate the comment too! Its going to be rather tight but I believe I can pull it off, going to have to be very careful with money!
      Crowdfunding... my instinctive reaction is i don't want others to help me and be out of pocket. I have a hard time asking for help (probably some historic issues there!) especially financially, as i have never recieved it (unless you count jobseekers). But I am thinking about it. If i could pay those back when i could, like a loan that didn't have absurd interest rates

    • @maedetheone
      @maedetheone 4 місяці тому

      @@GammageBenjamin Yeah, I can understand that. It can even be a source of pride to put together a plan and have it work! One concept that helped me be more comfortable asking for and accepting help is the "pay it forward" idea - I may be in need of some support today, but if things go well I will in turn be able to help out others in the future (not necessarily just financially either, helping others can take many forms).
      From what you mention in the video, you are in a bit of a tough spot right now through some unfortunate timing of events in your life. But it should only be a temporary thing, with the new job you're starting. I am sure there would be people willing to contribute toward your deposit for the new place, for example. And sincerely not expect to be paid back anything.

    Once you get settled in your job it could be worth looking more deeply at your finances. Do you budget? Do you know what your biggest costs are? Do you have credit card or high interest debt? Future you will thank you if you get your finances in order so that no one can put you in this situation again.

    • @GammageBenjamin
      @GammageBenjamin  4 місяці тому

      Well, I sold a certian stock which essentially covers a potential deposit, but my float or "im screwed money" covered 3 months. that dried up. since being unemployed the debts came quickly. Its difficult to budget when i made the wrong life choice of renting alone. the cash flow was such that i could not save enough. to cover 6 months of unemployment for example, whilst renting alone with bills etc would take me 9 months. thats allowing for a £200 month for food.
      I should of had a larger float, having to rely on credit to supplement jobseekers after 3 months was not ideal. but given my work history that wasn't financially feasible. and thats after making money on every stock and crypto i had. making money on very little is still very little.
      if you know of financial methods that can optimise the market based on funtional or technical analysis do spill the beans! but what i do know now, is not rely on job security and always houseshare :(

      @@GammageBenjamin I think having a rainy day fund makes sense. Sharing living expenses will help. I wouldn't touch crypto but that's just me. Dollar cost average into low expense index fund is probably the only guaranteed way to build wealth over time.
