This video shows my 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance drag racing at the Rockingham Dragway. My best 1/4 mile is an 11.17 @ 122.93 mph shown in the first clip of this video. This was with charging at the track, Preconditioning the battery, and 205 lbs was removed with seats and lightweight 18" wheels and PS4S tires.
The Model 3 Performance can be much faster than people think. Yes, if it isn't setup properly then it really fades quickly after 60 mph. However, with preheating the battery to at least 52 degrees C it can add as much as 80 HP above 60 mph all the way through the 1/4 mile.
I beat a modified Jeep TrackHawk, a modified Audi S8, and hung pretty close with a modified Audi RS7. If my Model 3 didn't have a preheated battery then I would have been way behind all of those cars.
I also have some clips in this video that show how much faster modified ICE cars can be. I also show what it looks like when you race a Model 3 against a Plaid.
I hope this gives everyone an idea of what is possible for a Model 3 Performance to do at the track. - Спорт
My Man, 11.17 is rocking it!!! Great run and that MPH is awesome too. You may be the first guy to go into the 10s in a Model 3 Performance.
It won't get into the 10s with me in it. I weigh to much. It is going to take a sub 100 lb driver and a lot of interior sound deadening removal that I am just not willing to do. Hopefully someone else will see this video and get inspired to do it. 11.17 is probably the fastest I will ever go in it. It takes too much work to go faster than that.
@@LearningFast Regardless, you're knocking on the door of high 10s which is amazing for a Model 3 Performance. Just get a girlfriend or sister to run it down the track. If you're not racing anyone, the tree lights don't matter. They can just hammer it and go!!
As an aside, those Plaids are ridiculous. Tesla Plaid Channel regularly goes into the 9.1 xxx
@@letsgobrandon5800 each tenth gets harder and harder to gain. 100 lbs weight reduction might get you a tenth at 12.0 but it might take 150 lbs to get from 11.17 to 11.07 and perhaps another 175 lbs to get into the 10s from there. We shall see though. For less than $60k this is a reasonably quick car. I still can’t beat any of the top 10 Kia Stingers though. Pretty crazy how fast cars have become.
@@LearningFast The Stingers are junk. A few runs down the strip and some mods and they're breaking. Look how many runs you've made and not a single breakdown.
@@letsgobrandon5800 I had two Stingers before the Tesla. They aren’t junk. Yes, they aren’t a BMW or Acura but they are really good cars for what I paid for them. The Tesla definitely is reliable in terms of powertrain. It is just so simple that there isn’t as much to break. Those Stingers are pretty fast though. My friend has a 2018 GT2 Stinger in the 10s that he has raced for almost 4 years now. Still going strong. That is fairly impressive for a $45k car when he bought it.
Model S Plaid is just so funny to watch. I'd be happy to lose to it and just have a laugh by watching how hilariously fast it takes off
2.8 to 60 is impressive!
It is plenty fast enough for me. Car pulls really hard on pretty much any surface.
You deserve the plaid. And it would be awesome to see more plaid channels.
Thanks for the help on the tool, one more question ,what tires are you using on yours?
Nice runs, i know it’s hard to low down time on 1/4 mile. Weight reduction is the only way we can do it. 👍
I want to remove my front right seat but can't figure out how the seat belt is removed from the floor can you help. Been looking all though the web and can't find out how. Was told there's a special tool . that didn't help where is the tool LOL.
You can find a tool on Amazon to remove the seat belt really easily. Then just unplug the wiring harness from the passenger front right footwell.
We need a Model 3 Performance + with more top end. Get me in the mid/high 10s like a P100D
It won’t happen. Musk was directly asked if he would ever do that and he said no. He said they are focused on making the Model 3 as simple as possible. Model 3 has to be a volume car for their goals. Instead we can unlock 40+ HP by preconditioning the battery and use smaller and lighter wheels.
@@LearningFast New Model 3 Performance Highland is expected to have 2 carbon sleeved motors from the Plaid to have higher top end.
@@borinvlogs it won’t have any Plaid motors. There is no need for that. Just the Model S LR motors would be enough.
@@LearningFast Not a Plaid version, but the new 24's M3P just released looks like its going to have more respectable top-end pull and quicker off the line!
@@ms3ben I should get mine in a few weeks.😉
this is all possible without voiding any warranties right? you just have to reassemble anything you took out of the car, aka back seats etc right?
Nothing I have done to the car should void any warranties. It is all reversible.
How can you know the battery temp when you do the preconditioning before the drag races?
S3XY buttons from Abstract Ocean. They do so much more than just that but their app is terrific for showing you data from the car.

@@LearningFast does this device effect the car warranty after installation?
@@raz00z it is the same thing as plugging an OBD2 reader into any other car.
Sheesh i didnt know model 3s were capable of 120+mph trap speeds how in the world at 3950lbs did u manage that! Thats only like 100lbs less than stock, what that with u in it?
I actually took about 200 lbs of weight out of it. Mine weighed just over 4,100 lbs stock. I got it down to just over 3,900 lbs. My 2024 Model 3 Performance gets here this week. It should run 125+ mph in the 1/4 mile and be in the 10s.
what has been your fastest 60-130?
I have never had the car over 124 mph. Just not enough room at the track to do it and I don’t race on the streets. The single speed transmission in this car really limits its 60-130 mph capabilities.
How are you heating the battery?
Set navigation to the nearest supercharger and it will typically Preheat the battery for about 15 minutes. I have the S3XY buttons so I can turn on and off Preconditioning at will.

@@LearningFast do you need to sit in the car while it is preconditioning? can i just send supercharger destination from phone to car or just go to the car put supercharger as destination and come back inside the house?
@@borinvlogs you have to be in the driver’s seat and press the brake pedal at least once. It is for safety that you have to be in the driver’s seat.
any 60-130 times or 62-124 times?
Best I can do is 60-120 mph. That was 8.16 seconds. It really isn’t pulling hard enough above 100 mph to get to 130 mph at the Dragstrip. I tried roll racing at the track and I hit the exact same speed(122 mph) before I had to slow down. A single speed transmission is not affective for high speed runs.
@@LearningFast oh my bad
@@LearningFast is sub 3 0-60 possible on the streets
@@fishie2295 With the 483bhp update and a preheated battery, yes.
