Lara can swing on ropes in the original The Last Revelation, and there is some "stealth" and rope walking in Chronicles. These are not new features introduced in remasters but descriptions of the original games and what they introduced to the series
Yeah I was gonna say the same thing, but perhaps they refined the mechanic some? I’m hoping at least. I remember the rope swing to be a bit of a pain in the ass
I’m excited to try Angel of Darkness, I never played it, heard Nothing but bad things. I’m interested to see how they addressed problems and improved the game to make it more playable.
Yeah same! Been hearing a lot about AOD. Sounds like it launched pretty bad and stayed that way. This is the best chance to fix all that! Lara looks cool 😎
Great video. I love the work this team has done on these amazing games. Tomb Raider originals are some of the greatest games ever and they have been very loyal.
Lara swinging on ropes was introduced as a new move she can do in the original Last Revelation when it came out in 1999; it's not new to the remaster. Same with stealth (which might have started as a thing in Chronicles, along with walking on ropes). Technically, the first incidence of stealth was in Ludds Gate in TR3 with one of the secrets.
Actually, stealth was first "somewhat introduced" in TR3 - specifically in the "High Security Compound" level, where first, Lara needs LISTEN to guard's footsteps (near the beginning of the level) and ideally let him go in the other direction before dropping down the opening (to push a button to open the gate and let the prisoners in). Later, she needs to CRAWL to not be seen by a guard near the first open area, where she then uses the Yellow Security Pass. And lastly, she needs to WALK behind another guard to get into crawlspace (the guard is facing the last level's secret). Otherwise she triggers them all.
@@buffalodebill1976 I literally SAID it was introduced in TR3. I suppose it depends what order you chose the areas in which of those two levels you get it in first
@@markalexander3659 I'm not arguing about its occurence, indeed, Lud's gate secret actually requires the use of stealth. However I'd put Nevada as the first occurence of this mechanics - considering these levels are pre-selected prior to London levels by default (in the OG game - right after South Pacific) and are also usually played prior to London levels, even by seasoned players.
walking on rope and bar swinging already exist in the original tomb raider 5, tomb raider 5 had stealth but it wasnt used correctly, it was mostly walking around behind enemies to knock them out.
Yeah it's been brought to my attention that they were not new features. Well, they were at the time but I misunderstood they were referring to the past, lol.
I'm sorry but you should've done your research before making this video. Stealth, Rope swinging and tight rope walking were all in these games originally so don't call them new features
I did do my research but their website was claiming these were new features. Specifically highlighted them. As someone who has not played these Games, of course I would not expect them to make such inaccurate claims
Glad you enjoyed it!! These guys are keeping me busy, lol. 3 different Games coming out over 3 months 😃 Also I just find side by side comparisons fun, lol. The nerd in me likes it 👀
Outstanding! What made the original Tomb Raider games classics were the atmosphere, the sense of adventure, puzzle solving and they were just fun plus the original Lara Croft was just a cool character. Many of these elements are missing from "modern" games despite the fact we have the tech to make prettier looking games. Old is gold because the way forward is backwards and it looks like this applies to video gaming as well. I am much more excited for this release than for the release of many modern games. I have the 1-3 remasters and those were brilliant. You can tell they were made with passion and respect for the source material. I already wishlisted 4-6 Remastered on Steam and will be putting down money for the pre-order soon to support the devs. I will also be picking up physical copies for both collections for the Switch. This is one of those games series you want to have a physical copy of. Thanks for the comparison and I am so glad these lessor known Tomb Raider game are finally getting their opportunity to shine.
Oh hello!! Have not seen you in a while, hope you have been well 🙂 You are so welcome!! Hype videos are the most fun and connecting with fellow Gamers this way is a delight ♥️
The first two games look so good, but the total absence of shadows in The Angel of Darkness makes me worry, not gonna lie. 9:21 looks so lifeless! And it's such a pity, given that it's one of my favourite games from Tomb Raider. Hopefully it looks better in-game! TRAOD deserves so much! Nice video ^^
Ohh I didn't even notice that!! Dang, yeah I hope so as well. So glad you enjoyed it ^__^ These types of videos are fun to make because I learn in the process and it's just nice to see fellow Gamers get excited
3:15 sure the devs will make everything look better being a remastered, but changing puzzles? the Devs cant make use of any feature because tomb raider 4 already exist, all the devs are doing is making it a remastered not changing the games level design to be different. the Devs can make ropes easier to use but not change where they are.
I'm excited. Didn't expect this announcement out of nowhere yesterday. 6 remasters of the best two mayor games ever, in the last 1-2 years by Aspyr is pure bliss! I was looking at the achievements since they showed it on true achievements website, which i'm pretty sure they are legit website, and it could be a placeholder. But it showed 168+ trophies. And when I read the trophies specifically for TR4 and 5. There were some interesting trophies, like collect every single item in a single walkthrough. I don't know how that's gonna work, because in TR1-3. They had the perfect in game statistics that shows exactly how many items and secrets are in each level of separate tabs in the inventory. But in TR4 and 5. It only shows game statistics of secrets, and that's it. Not total items each level. There's also an achievement in TR4 of break every vessel in a single walkthrough. I tried to look for both of these guides on youtube and cannot find either 100% guide. But i could easily in TR1-3. So I hope they make some good changes to all this and improvements, because I remember the level design in TR4 was very tricky and confusing, and with a lot of backtracking. And combining items, not knowing where to put them etc. Cant wait to play them!
Happy to share the excitement and good news!! Now feels like a perfect time for old Game franchises to make their comebacks 😃 Looks like these Trophies will keep you busy. Do you normally try to complete them?
@GamingMyWholeLife Oh yes very excited. I got all platinums for TR1-3. Which those were my favorite 3 TR games of all time. So I definitely have to complete the trilogy with the platinums for these also! They haven't shown any comparisons of old and new footages and the footage they did show to me looks like pure vanilla AOD. (Possibly pre-alpha remaster footage) The game looks the same as it was originally, the character model too. Textures might have been a bit upgraded (Hard to say for sure), but the lighting and lack of ambient occlusion and shadows looks.. Horrid... Maybe they haven't remastered AOD yet at the current part of the development cycle and this was just proof of concept footage? I don't know. But the character model should be replaced with the new remastered Lara for sure, since you know... Tomb Raider 1-6 were always meant to be the same Lara in the same universe. Old games changed her every couple of games as graphics technology improved, but now consistency in design would be a better artistic choice.
It would have been a good idea to have played the originals or at least known which features were already in there lol. Stealth and rope balance were already in chronicles and rope swinging in last revelation
Apparently the rope information was inaccurate. Anyways, the weaker lighting direction thing sucks, but it's unsuprising. Why can't any re-release seem to get the lighting right. It tends to be worst, even if only slightly. And regardless it's baked or real-time. Moslly referring to whatever the term for how it affects the visibility of the location. Spyro remake, Dead Space remake, TRI-III, etc, they never get it right.
If they started development after the release of the first three, I anticipate Angel of Darkness will be a disaster of a job. The engine is different, it requires the most work on. There's no way one year of dev time will cut it. Optimists will say they're saving its showcase closer to release, others like me are thinking it's in no state to be shown right now and they're scrambling to make it okay for release.
I growing concern for me is how many projects they are doing at any one time. These developers are real busy, working on so many Games and who knows, there might be even more Games that have not been confirmed yet
“WARNING: this game collection lets you be rude to random French & Czech people and has you running around Egypt blowing up men in tacky burkas weilding swords. Never mind one is optional, the others are hired guns & neither of those things actually matter same as back in the 90s & 2000s like in our first trilogy, we here at Crystal & Eidos just want to make Core Design look bad so we forced Aspyr to add this message”.
3:21 I think you got something wrong there. Rope swing was already there. First time Lara could swing on a rope was TR4, that's the only reason why they are mentioning it here. ^^ In fact every new TR game back then introduced 1-2 new mechanics.
Stealth in Chronicles means the cook section in the Russian submarine and the chloroform mechanic in VCI 😂 I mean, there was stealth in TR3 too in Area 51 😂
Yeah turns out the website mislead me a bit. It sounded like these were all new features but they meant it work new compared to even older TR titles, lol.
I feel like you should have been more informed on the games. All those features like tight rope walking, “stealth” and rope swinging are not new and were in the originals. Now if they did something like added dual pistols into AOD then that would be new because yes in the promotional materials and cover art she has dual pistols but in game in AOD she can’t get them.
I'm actually very interested in that Game 🙂 There just wasn't anything interesting to bring up for a Graphics comparison or any other features revealed by the Developers. I didn't make a conscious effort to talk about it any less than the others ^__^
@@GamingMyWholeLife There is a big thing to talk about. Like the graphics look worse than the original and Lara model looks soo bad! While other games look amazing aod looks soo much worse!
Another big part of the excitement, at least for me is the STEAM versions of these Games all run buggy and horribly on my PC. So at least now I can experience these Games properly + photo mood and all that good stuff 😃
@@GamingMyWholeLife yeah I'm definitely agree these are one of the hardest working developers a lot of other companies that are lazy but not them I have to give them their respect
Damn Chronicles is just bad. And AOD was terrible. TRIV has some great stuff vs horrible too. I dont know if I would recommend these games. Only to fans 😂
It's technically not Aspyr who are hands-on workin on it, but Saber Interactive, which split up from both studios' parent company Embracer earlier this year. Aspyr is producing, and they outsourced it to Saber Interactive. Which makes sense, seeing on how many Star Wars games they've been working on continuosly. Saber also made the first TR trilogy remaster, when they were still a sibling company to Aspyr under Embracer.
Look Classic TR is my fave but it's strange that you're bashing Lara's new looks (one not even being Lara, but a different character with Lara's outfit) when you haven't even played the Classics in the first place. Or at the very least you haven't played 4, 5 and 6.
I've played the originals and other random entries into the series. Lara is iconic and her looks is part of that. So of course it's nice to see these Developers be respectful of that
Because it had potential that it didn't live up to because of it's disasterous development. Fand wouldn't have been hard at work fixing this games plethora of bugs if they didn't see something in it.

@positiveproductions6699 - Actually, that's a very good point. this is a new game coming to all consoles, it should just be available everywhere
It would have been a good idea to have played the originals or at least known which features were already in there lol. Stealth and rope balance were already in chronicles and rope swinging in last revelation
Yeah I learned after the fact the website meant those features were new at the time and not now, lol
I hope they removed stamina from Angel of Darkness 🤗
There was stamina? That feels... like an odd choice
@@GamingMyWholeLife It was the wost!!! Especially as a child who couldn't play well at the time 🤣
@@rue_pardox I can imagine, lolo
The lighting needs work I agree
Was a bit of an odd choice.
It's obviously not because of technical limitations but an incorrect artistic one.
Still very excited!
So, what will be offending people to add the trigger warning like the first collection.
That warning that was clearly forced by the Publisher was so Dumb
“WARNING: this game collection lets you be rude to random French & Czech people and has you running around Egypt blowing up men in tacky burkas weilding swords. Never mind one is optional, the others are hired guns & neither of those things actually matter same as back in the 90s & 2000s like in our first trilogy, we here at Crystal & Eidos just want to make Core Design look bad so we forced Aspyr to add this message”.
LEVEL EDITOR!!!! PLEASE INCLUDE! since the makers used the level editors I sure hope so.
Oh great idea!! That would be sweeeeet 🍰
I hope they fixed annoying camera view.
3:21 I think you got something wrong there. Rope swing was already there. First time Lara could swing on a rope was TR4, that's the only reason why they are mentioning it here. ^^ In fact every new TR game back then introduced 1-2 new mechanics.
Yeah I misunderstood the website when I was reading it's features. They meant it was new at the time but I thought they meant it's new NOW, lol
@@GamingMyWholeLife I still find funny that Core decided to advertise such feature 😂 AoD has real stealth, but TRC? Really? 🤣
Yeah I learned after the fact they were not new features. Website was a bit misleading
Aspyr is cooking
Unlike the cancelled KOTOR II DLC.
They sure are!!
Such busy developers, with so many Remasters 😃
Can you tell me why you didnt talk about aod? Is it because it is not good looking ?
I'm actually very interested in that Game 🙂
There just wasn't anything interesting to bring up for a Graphics comparison or any other features revealed by the Developers. I didn't make a conscious effort to talk about it any less than the others ^__^
@@GamingMyWholeLife There is a big thing to talk about. Like the graphics look worse than the original and Lara model looks soo bad! While other games look amazing aod looks soo much worse!
I see I see. I didn't actually notice
Rope swinging, tight rope walking, and stealth are just talking point changes for the original versions, they're not new to the remaster.
Very true, the website made it sound new to me hahaha.
cant wait to see what they have done with angel of darkness as its the most broken game (also my fav tr) 14th feb cant come sooner!
Another big part of the excitement, at least for me is the STEAM versions of these Games all run buggy and horribly on my PC. So at least now I can experience these Games properly + photo mood and all that good stuff 😃
@@GamingMyWholeLife yesss cannot wait i preordered as soon as i saw angel of darkness was included which i didnt think would be
I want about more gameplay changes to AoD
Hopefully more is revealed soon but they do have 2 other Games coming out before this, so they might go silent for a little while

Thank you kindly 😃 Much appreciated 🙃
9:49 wtf is this sacrilege?
Are you serious I own the other remasters I just got to jump on them I've been playing other games I play these games when I was a kid
@@natejoe9924 They are awesome dude!:)
I hope they don't burn themselves out!! They are releasing so many remasters, like ome every month 😃
@@GamingMyWholeLife yeah I'm definitely agree these are one of the hardest working developers a lot of other companies that are lazy but not them I have to give them their respect
@@GamingMyWholeLife they are not lazy that's one thing I can say about them
Very true, Nate. Respect where due. They are working hard and they might even have other Games they are working on that have not been announced yet!
Why they never add auto aim
Wasn't in the originals? Never played them so I actually don't know
Core Tomb Raider always had auto aim and so do the remasters. LAU did too and it was only TR0 (2013) that got rid of it. What are you on about?
Damn Chronicles is just bad. And AOD was terrible. TRIV has some great stuff vs horrible too. I dont know if I would recommend these games. Only to fans 😂
You’ve clearly never played these games brother.
I am open about that 🙂
Well, these specific ones. Playes the originals, all the reboots and random others here and there
It's technically not Aspyr who are hands-on workin on it, but Saber Interactive, which split up from both studios' parent company Embracer earlier this year. Aspyr is producing, and they outsourced it to Saber Interactive. Which makes sense, seeing on how many Star Wars games they've been working on continuosly. Saber also made the first TR trilogy remaster, when they were still a sibling company to Aspyr under Embracer.
good to know
"hate art" 😂
I have no idea where that word came from and now I'm scared, lol.
@@GamingMyWholeLife What else could you call those versions of Lara? 🤮 "Hate art" is perfect 👍🏻
Nyehehe well Thank you!!
So of course it's nice to see these Developers be respectful of that
@@GamingMyWholeLife I see, I guess you played them a long time ago then.
I don't get why angel of darkness. That game feels like it's from a completely different franchise
Because it had potential that it didn't live up to because of it's disasterous development. Fand wouldn't have been hard at work fixing this games plethora of bugs if they didn't see something in it.
No idea but I'm looking forward to finding out for myself 😃
Her design looks pretty cool
Ikr. I always want a dark tr game
Omg this is so cool! 🤩 Hoping angel of darkness gets its second chance we've always wanted for it! 🥲
I just think Lara looks really cool in it and I'm looking forward to the whole package 😃
Hope they include the bonus level All Hallows.
