It's really cool they are giving us a new version of this game. I haven't played the original game yet but I wanted to buy it for my classic XBOX a few days before the Remaster got announced. I think the Remaster has some good improvements but I like the grey, washed out colors of the original more. I think it has a more intimidating look than the new updated version.

Original game is abandonware. I played the game back in the day (PC version) and it was pretty unique for the survival horror at the time, alto some features weren't implemented best in my opinion, mainly due to engine limitations. Kinda like Silent Hill 4, lot of cool ideas but not implemented well due to engine limitation or simple budget and time limit. I think this game would actually benefit from full on remake from ground up (like RE2-4 remakes), but I don't know how appealing this would be to investors considering The Thing never really became household name and franchise. Heck, both movies were flops and I think this game also didn't sell well.

Better 3D models, lighting, textures and actively working to improve in game systems, like the fear/trust mechanic ~ I don't understand where they got lazy, lol
I don't see any difference it looks like the same game to me. Yeah its remastered for clearer video compared to the old version it is still as clunky with Tank Controller movement. When I heard 'remastered' my first thought was as an updated game as was done with the recent Silent Hill hoping the developers were working on a newer 'The Thing' game. It is obvious this isn't the case or is another in development I'm unaware? I must admit to be very disappointed.
They are slipping in some woke agenda bits into some of these remasters sadly. It'll never stop. Letting them get away with stuff most won't notice will guarantee things will get worse with time.
Don't let them win and remove your ability to look forward to upcoming Games. When we need to vote with our wallets, we will and often do. For now, enjoy what you can see 🙂
still looks old retro and blocked looking to me like old syphon filter games. not going to buy a new game of this if the only real difference is some texture and lighting difference.
It is the same. The remaster just is a barely clean swipe. They need to do what they did with Silent Hill 2. That would guarantee Blooper in the books.

Think that's outside of the budget. We are lucky to even be getting this but maybe we will get a completely new entry if this does well!
Release date?
They say coming out this year soooo, its going to have to be 1-2 months tops 😃
Whens the thing out?
No release date has been set apart from this year - meaning next couple months🙂
Lazy remaster... but day one for me.
Better 3D models, lighting, textures and actively working to improve in game systems, like the fear/trust mechanic ~ I don't understand where they got lazy, lol
Lazy old farts "remaster" (shitty-shaders texture HD-repack with cheap dynamic lightning (yeah like GTA SA HD remaster)
@@GamingMyWholeLife we are in 2024.
Agree. That looks like San Andreas HD pack, very cheap and just shi-
They are slipping in some woke agenda bits into some of these remasters sadly.
Not at full price
It's a lot more than that but of course maybe a Remaster is not enough but a Remake would have been preferred ?
Don't worry the modern graphical remake will get blocky too.
Looks the same
Better graphics and some difference in the cutscenes
It is the same. The remaster just is a barely clean swipe. They need to do what they did with Silent Hill 2. That would guarantee Blooper in the books.
