I wish they’d remake it not even just remaster it. Re make how it was supposed to be intended before all the content being cut, it was also supposed to have a few sequels
It depends in a way. A remake could in theory be anything, so they could in theory make it worse. I'd say the safest bet is the Trilogy style remaster but add all of the missing content, bug fixes and controls not being complete arse. A remake would be great if they can kind of do what Resi Evil did but again even with that people complain about 3 a lot and even 2 had big issues such as the 2nd run being just a short version of the 1st ect.
I remember playing AoD and finishing it on my mother's laptop- without a mouse, but a touchpad. It fascinated me since I didn't know Lara Croft could be so vulnerable since I had only played Anniversary. I got back to AoD a few years ago and it has become an obsession of mine. Not only the rich lore Murti keeps feeding us to this day, the only love interest that could keep up with her, and the mystery, but especially Lara growing and healing. I collected any merchandise, have a huge LV tattoo, and a tumblr to post about all of the background information in the form of a journal. AoD needs a remake as a trilogy; it is such a shame what happened to this game.
With the amazing job Aspyr did with the remasters I really hope they apply the same formula to TR 4, 5 and 6. Since they actually care about the franchise and actually hired talented fans for the remasters I could easily see them bringing on board the people behind AoD the Restoration Project. BTW if people did not pick up the remasters, I highly suggest they do. With that said, was anyone able to get AoD running on the Steam Deck?
Yes, you're right. Tomb Raider Angel of darkness was very flexible and had the most potential, and I think it deserves a realistic remastered version with all realistic physical laws, and I agree laras badass attitude was everything ❤
I'm so happy. I'm not expecting anything on the level of the restoration mod or Definitive Edition mod from the Aspyr remaster. But I'm happy it's at least gonna get a little bit of love
Angel of Darkness is the best Tomb Raider. I personally think it had the best OST, the best vibe, the best story by far, and definitely the best Lara Croft. Jonell Elliot is beyond amazing
As someone who played AOD back in 2003 as a kid who couldn’t get use to the controls and never finished it myself, I completely get your view point too and see how this game could of been so huge for TR. The story is the most detailed while being the most dark out of the OGs, the music is incredible, Lara’s model has become one of the most loved and the overall feel of the game is unlike any other TR game making it really unique. While I don’t know how or even if an official remake or remaster would ever happen, I think if it was it would be massively successful and do right by a lot of the original team who worked hard on this game but never got to do it justice with the time frame they had.
Hopefully if the remastered trilogy sells well, they can do a second trilogy that includes this game, chronicles and the last revelation. Give chronicles and the last revelation the same treatment that the trilogy got but maybe the makers could get access to the original code for this game and fix the bugs and make it as it was originally intended to be. It would be a nice way to close out the second core trilogy.
This is the game that actually made me LOVE tomb raider as a kid ironically. And to be honest if they were able to accomplish what they wanted and had the time to do it this probably would have been the best tomb raider trilogy! Like if you actually take your time to look into the making of the game, and learn the actual story the game couldn’t properly tell at some points the story was actually really REALLY good in my honest opinion. Like the thought that was put into the story is insane. The atmosphere of it just hits different than any other tomb raider game. And the music is amazing. I REALLY hope that they revisit this story and bring it to life in the way that it’s meant to be.
AOD's story, Lara's look, attitude and Kurtis being the best sidekick (for me personally) are all the right reasons to give this game a proper remake, with addition of two more games making it a trilogy it was meant to be.
i would love for this game to get a true remaster! I overall enjoyed AOD it's just such a shame that it was so rushed out the door and not had the proper time to be finished!
Chronicles and Angel of Darkness r my two favourites what caught my eye about Angel of Darkness was it was the first Tomb Raider game where you could choose what to say in conversations
This video deserves more likes and views. AoD was also my favorite, despite being the only one I did not finish bc I HATED playing as Curtis. And despite dying with when I’d talk to mob bosses. 😅 It was the concept I loved. I also wished it had become a tv series, that way the story could be finished.
This game is so underrated when it comes to story and lore as well. Tomb raider was my childhood i got the remasters loving them again remaster more awesome video subbed.💜🇬🇧✌🏻
Cool things in French is Lara had always the same voice actress as Françoise cadolle through out all the games until the reboot come so to TR1 to TR6(AOD) it still the same voice. Btw i think AOD need a remake a remaster is not enough it need to get back all the cut content and came out as he suposed to out the first time. This game is a really good one instead of lot of people say its just bad that they rush it instead of take there time to complete the game completely before it's out.
Imagine Core Design not being pushed to have this game released in 2002 and then in 2003, but instead being given enought time to really and truly finish it. Just picture this game having really good and tight controls (both tank and modern ones), all the bugs and glitches fixed, the game itself being really complete (e.g. no cut content, no inaccessible areas, etc..), finalized & fine-tuned body upgrade mechanics, most of the dialogues resulting in different playthrough paths to be taken.. Yeah, the game would probably have been great. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and the game sucked. Even today, despite all the fan patches and bug fixes, the very-deep-rooted issues still make it feel like an unfinished product, though, admittedly, all those updates made it very playable and highly enjoyable - unlike its originally released version. So I think we do not need a remaster (the graphics are fine, fixes for controls are out already) or a remake (remaking something bad typically doesn't make it much better), but merely a FINISHED version of the game, as it was originally envisioned.
I barely got the game in the mail today and it's pretty fun even if it is janky. I actually like it more than the original but I'm not made it very far in the original games because the controls are very hard to adapt to without practice
If they're ever gonna remake it, it would be a smart decision to make the game bigger and better than before by not only fixing all the bugs/glitches but also add in ALL of the content that had to be cut. That way, if the development goes as i've described it, the game would be hailed as an absolute masterpiece.
This is the first Tomb Raider game I played, and my favorite one. I remember It taked me years to complete when I was a kid but that even with the frustration made it more special, couse I spent tons of hours in those levels, really inmersive experience. Im playing it now with the definitive edition demo and this is GOLD.
I loved it when it first came out but literally because I was blinded by the fact it was Lara Croft. Story is dece tho. After I played it later on I hated how clunky it was and glitchy, and you can't even do flips and shoot, which essentially makes the flipping useless. Sometimes her running animation would speed up almost like she was suppose to be moving at that speed but then she'd go back to slow mo running. Lol Cant wait for the remaster. Hope they do it justice.
It deserves a full remake but only if they are going to finish the story as originally planned. Am I the only person that liked Kurtis and was interested in his back story?
Yeah I love the fact the game has a Detective aspect to it aswell. Shame man. It could become the best if they re-did it today. (and bring back Jonell elliott too)
This one is the Gem 💎 of Tomb Raider games! So underrated and I wish to play it again! I just can’t find it anywhere! Honestly I think it deserves much love and attention from the creators! It’s worth a remaster or a remake! It will be a hit!
Not alot of fans of the originals like to hear this because they want to blame Eidos but, I think it’s a bit of a misrepresentation to call this a “rushed” game, because it wasn’t rushed at all. Angel of Darkness was an extremely mismanaged project from Core Design. They wanted to do too many things with this game at once with no compromise. Story dialogue with different outcomes, hand to hand combat, 2 playable characters, optional routes, upgrade system, stealth, rpg elements, way too many locations/levels, shops and the list just goes on. As a project manager it’s your responsibility to scale back to make sure you can deliver a finished product in time and despite an almost 1 year delay it was still unfinished.
is it possible to get these graphics and mods with steam addition of the game? I do love this game, always have actually enjoyed this one the most out of the more modern titles actually, I understand it's flaws and loved it for what it was trying to do
AoD needs to be finished first. I bet that if the devs had the time they needed, it wouldn't be as bad as it ended up being, and perhaps would've been a very good one! After that a remaster would be ok. And please, populate Paris a bit more.
TR Angel of darkness was awesome, probably one of my most favourite TR, I never had any issues with it whatsoever, but I kinda confused about how it is unfinished? What I can remember was that it had a conclusion and never thought there was anything wrong with the story and etc . Can anyone please explain what exactly was unfinished?
I’ve only played the Survivor Trilogy but I plan to get all the previous games in the series. Something about this game just sticks out to me, I love its darker/edgy vibe and its environments have an amazing atmosphere. Would it be worth playing the vanilla version first or should I just play with the Mod from the get go?
Go with the mod for sure. It's just gonna make your experience better. It's very easy to setup. It's just an installer. Just install the game then install the mod.
I understand why AoD flopped (chaotic development) and isn't the most beloved episode in the franchise (no longer the spirit of a Tomb Raider game), but I'll always respect the ambition behind it. They tried something new, expanded the writing of Lara's character (started wih IV), a more present storyline and characters to support it, new ways to explore (Paris' level in a nutshell). I like to parallel AoD with the Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy, because the first one wasn't as lucky as the second one, and yet they have some similarities. They drastically changed the tone of the series, tried something different, got their inspiration from the BIG games of their respective eras: MGS, Shenmue... for AoD and Uncharted/The Last of Us for Survivor. But funnily enough both Laras are completely opposite to each other, one is peak while the other is utterly wasted potential.
I really love this game, but there's a lot of problems... Unfortunately. First time I've played was in 2003, but I couldn't finish it...and yesterday I finally did it!! But I had to download a save game for boaz returns. oMG, that thing was fuckn me up.. Hugs from Brasil 🇧🇷
Also used to randomly restart games 🙋🏻♂️ to be fair on myself, I had no choice with AOD because I didn’t have a memory card. Somehow actually finished this game and have no memory of the ghost you got stuck on 😂
May I make a little observation? (in light of recent news) I noticed how many times you talked about your love for Lara's look and general aesthetic (big agree btw) This is obviously very common among people who are fond of for AoD. I remember myself having huge excitement and high hopes for this game, watching trailers over and over. But I wonder if a lot of AoD fans find it hard to take a step back and truly look past their obsession with the aesthetic/tone and the many, deep, fundamental problems they've trained themselves to look past that go far beyond technical issues. I guess what i'm trying to say is that, no matter what Aspyr manage do with this game, it's still going to get absolutely crucified by reviewers. And I think AoD fans need to brace themselves for that because I fear they are going to take it very, VERY personally. 😓
I think part of the reason AOD is looked fondly upon now is because Underworld - Shadow of the tomb raider followed it. Legend and Anniversary were great, but Underworld was buggy af and didn't really cap off that timeline all to well. and fuck the reboots, those aren't tomb raider games
It's such a shame AOD was released in such a messy state. I absolutely loved the story and I wanted to bad to see a proper conclusion through the last two games of the planned trilogy. However that was not to be. I was quite annoyed or frustrated with all the glitchy bugs in the game and I despised the fact that Lara no longer weilds two guns at one time. I loved Kurtis Trent and I would have loved to see him in his own game. I was really quite disappointed with AOD when I first played at at 12years old. It really was a huge step back from the progress made in Last Rev on PS1. I found traversal hard because using the analogue sticks was difficult with her same PS1 type of movement and because if you didn't shove the left analogue stick forward fast enough, Lara would walk into a run instead of instantly running. I have always been such a big fan of TR and Lara Croft, and AOD just sort of put a downer on my favourite hobby and interest in my life at the time. I would really love for someone in gaming development to remaster or remake this game and even pursuit the rest of the story so we can finally see a true conclusion to the awesome story.
@@chasevisa0 Both Restoration Project and Definitive Edition have there is a install guide document which tells you how to setup a controller depending on what controller you use. If your using the steam version of the game. You also need to disable steam input for it to work.
@Rebel_Croft yeah I watched a video guide on it as well. I even tried all three controller mods separately and none would work. Only one button on the controller would work, which was the start button. I didn't know what else to try and couldn't find any answers that worked for me
Remaster - absolutely not. If anything, it would need a full remake, because none of it is salvageable. For starters, the engine itself is the biggest stinking pile of garbage that I've ever seen. Just one look at the config options tells me it's a mess. Then there are the godawful controls. Everything is sluggish and unresponsive. The stairs mechanics are straight up terrible. Jumping in Wrath of the Beast or Sanctuary of the Flame is always a painful load fest. There's random shit that happens for no reason. You cannot have a platformer where the character randomly veer to the right or left just because you pressed the "hop" combination as the tutorial told you to. That's insane. Then you have Lara climbing boxes and ladders just because you were pressing "forward" but no action. That's crazy too. And for some stupid reason, the fan patches enabled this obviously unfinished and way too sensitive stumble when she happens to bump into even the smallest objects like soda cans, or this stupid feature where she moves slower as she's injured. It sounds good on paper but actually is very annoying. Then there's "I feel stronger now". Ugh. This should have never been implemented and is the reason why the running animation is so slow. You can't have a platformer where the player can never be sure if they'll make a jump, or fall short, or overshoot it, because the jumping distance changes throughout the game. I would also completely remove the grip bar. It was never needed in a Tomb Raider game, so no idea why it's there. The camera is also horrible. If you want a character to start moving in relation to an enemy rather than in relation to the environment you're in, that's fine, but it should be a toggle, and should be better implemented. I think it's actually a good idea, just horribly executed. The plot holes are obvious and we can see very clearly about half of the game was cut out. Nothing new here. The AI has to go. There is no redeeming quality about it. And in general... for a Tomb Raider game, it takes way, way too long to get to the meat and potatoes, so to say. Pretty much until Louvre Storm Drains, this isn't Tomb Raider. I think the music is the only thing about AOD that was actually finished. I would personally just let this game die in peace. For the amount of work required to make it work, you might as well just release a brand new Tomb Raider game on the classic engine or even better, a brand new level editor just like they did for Chronicles.
I think this game is too broken for a remaster. Lara is so slow with weird moves. Paris is so grotesque here too. But they must keep this atmosphere and this music 🤩
I wish they’d remake it not even just remaster it. Re make how it was supposed to be intended before all the content being cut, it was also supposed to have a few sequels

@@diego2817I agree with this. Please only remaster it with all content added and no bugs
Well we are officially getting remasters of Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness 😁
I definitely think this game needs a remake from the ground up and have everything that was originally supposed to be part of it 💯
I remember playing AoD and finishing it on my mother's laptop- without a mouse, but a touchpad. It fascinated me since I didn't know Lara Croft could be so vulnerable since I had only played Anniversary.

Ik of 2 guys doing this kinda one in unity and the other on the unreal engine.
How are you playing this with a controller?
The Restoration mod has controller support
@@Rebel_Croft i was never able to get the controller mod to work 😞
@@chasevisa0 Both Restoration Project and Definitive Edition have there is a install guide document which tells you how to setup a controller depending on what controller you use. If your using the steam version of the game. You also need to disable steam input for it to work.
@Rebel_Croft yeah I watched a video guide on it as well. I even tried all three controller mods separately and none would work. Only one button on the controller would work, which was the start button. I didn't know what else to try and couldn't find any answers that worked for me
The game is amazing
Hey guess what
THEYRE REMASTERING AOD
@nichmcintosh2699 Fuck yeah bud
I guess one few I like the game
You all might want to check out reborninshadows YT channel. It's all about TR:AoD fixes, that dude is making.
Can’t be that bad of a game if you can beat it
the game looks nice and all but she isn't really like the oj lara so if it was another woman with kurtis id prefer it
That stupid stamina bar needs to go.
Is that PS 2 or 1 ?
PC
@@Rebel_Croft ok man
Remaster - absolutely not.
Remake and restore all missing content, yes.
Remaster? NO... This game is way too unfinished and broken for that.
A remaster and fix controls, bugs. Boom
I think this game is too broken for a remaster. Lara is so slow with weird moves. Paris is so grotesque here too. But they must keep this atmosphere and this music 🤩
Well that’s the whole point of a remaster. They can fix camera, controls, bugs and everything.
No. Very bad game
