Meshuggah. I love Metallica, but Meshuggah is foreshadowing an absolute beast masterpiece October 7th. Metallica would be my obvious number one pick for anticipation, but the two new singles by Meshuggah, especially the song Nostrum are introducing something ahead of most bands right now, to where I cannot help but be more excited about their album.
Agreed. Jomsviking is one of the few good albums out in last few years. I also enjoyed a few tracks from Dystopia by Megadeth (not many good songs on that record ). Another great one IMO is Immortalized by Disturbed from last year.

This song bangs hard as hell in the car on my subwoofers. The bass drum bangs pretty hard like Lars' drumming from And Justice For All except it's complemented with bass guitar hits mixed in with the drum. This recording quality is GOOD
I absolutely love this song, can't stop playing it but the solo is so weak. I miss the days when kirk used to go away and write a beginning, middle and epic end to a solo. This sounds like he just improvised on the spot and recorded what came out.

You're right about the variety in the song. Also the all the different riffs here blend together so perfectly that the song feels one piece. In Death Magnetic I've got this feeling that some of the songs were just like 2 songs put together because second halves of those songs were played with riffs and tempo very different from the first half.
Metallica is my favorite band of all time.... That said, I haven't EVER been this excited over a new Metallica single. I'm 31 though, so the pre black album stuff was all released when I was a little kid and before. Already a top 10 Metallica song in my book!

I didn't grow up in their old albums, I'm 18 and haven't really experienced any new music from them, I love their old shit, obviously its some of the greatest metal/trash any of us have heard, hearing this song, it's very different, its more modern rock, which I fucking love this, fits right into the shit I listen to today, and the chorus... we all had the same reaction, so fresh and good. Also. The song structure really reminds me of something from the Master album but with a Magnetic tone; the harmonies, chorus breakdown, interludes, but with the tone of say That Was Just Your Life. VERY dynamic song. Certainly a throwback. For Magnetic they released 3 average songs from the album: Nightmare, TDTNC and U3. And like you said I'm hoping that's the case here with this one too. I hope the rest of the tracks are better than what we've heard which would make it a Grammy contender 😀
A Co-worker told me about the full-length version of the song had just came out this morning i ready it was gonna come out because i saw a short intro click video of it before the full-length did and it reminds me of one of the songs on Garage Days Revisited

Love it! 2nd - Death Magnetic was a return to thrash influenced by Rick Ruben, This new stuff seems to be the band writing freely as 4 people in Metallica not focused on returning to any form except the form of Metallica which is an ever-evolving style. (in my opinion anyways...) which is great! 3rd - I love that you posed the "what if this isn't the best song on the album?" if they get better I'll be so damn pumped!

Go see them live, he adds plenty of double bass at the shows, even on parts of songs that didn't have them. just doesnt come across too clearly on the recordings so people assume he's not doing them but he is.
saw them 10 times live.. not saying he cannot do it anymore. .just assuming won't be "hearable " live.. and I'm a drummer.. he uses copy and paste, but live versions lack of power..good example " one" from ajfa.
Thats what I mean when I say its not coming through in live audio recordings, he doesnt hit the kick drums that hard on double kicks, but you can feel it live in person so he's definitely doing it. Copy and paste stuff, yeah most drummers these days do it but Lars has never done a ton of double bass in any metallica record really speaking compared to modern drummers so its hard to whether he's uses any tricks or not

St anger I never could get into , death magnetic a path in the right direction and the two songs they have released so far is definitely going to be a great album .
