You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

He pass away 2 years ago...now I remember him, you give me so much good taste of music ❤
Sitting here in self-isolation during the Covid 19 Pandemic, I think about all these talents that I am blessed to just 'click' on. For two days I have drifted through so many incredibly talented songwriters. Most of them seem to have been born around 1950, almost 10 years before me. They were given the magic and inspiration of poetry and music that came directly from their hearts and souls. A very special breed. So, when I came of radio age, there they were, as young adults making this music during a time in radio where all music came together on one or two AM stations. (1050 CHUM...TORONTO). Me, walking to school in September with the 3" by 3" transistor radio, not knowing that 50 years later I would be hanging onto their every word, every note. I wonder if one or more of you that is sitting in self-enforced isolation (because we are now the old people that this virus could kill) wishing that we were all in a big room listening and singing along together. I'm going to pretend you are with me tonight, and in the days to come. We are all in a park full of green in June, the sun is shining off the nearby water. "Our" music is playing, and we are singing along because we know every word. Sitting on a blanket, or standing alone, or dancing with a friend. Or maybe just holding your hand over your heart because it is almost TOO good. We are ALL so blessed to grow up when we did. See you in the park someday.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm right there with you, sister. :)
You have a friend here! We were blessed to grow up when we did. Stay safe & see you in that park.
You have brought water to this man's eyes way to early in the morning. it is amazing how music binds us in an almost genetic way, deeper than that - spiritual. I fist heard "You've Got A Friend" sung by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Whether you find one version preferred above another, Carole King's poetry, along with so many others born in the 50's and early 60's, bind our spiritual cores in a harmony which only music manages to achieve, thanks again.
Beautifully written...it is too bad that there are millions of people in the world that will never hear this music....
Top!
Remember, You’ve got a friend ! A song by Carole King, that’s what we need right now in this time of pandemic and some disorder in the country.
Amen
This song is just timeless. Carole is one of the most important women in the history of popular music - an icon and a treasure.
Carole King is another wonderful singer from the " good old days ". So nice to hear this again ......now.
I've been singing this song to my cat who has chronic kidney disease. He rolls over and let's me rub his belly, so he must like it even though I'm singing with 2 blown vocal cords, the good one blown putting the breathing tube in to remove a polyp on the other. He's truly the love of my life and doesn't seem to mind. I pray for his furry soul every single day of my life.
Order milk thistle from Chewy or your vet. Not too expensive and amazing how much it will help him! Do this right away, it will give him more quality time here on earth with you.
@@leecox2717 Thank you! I have had him on Denamarin for most of his life for IBD issues. It contains milk thistle and sam-e. He's also on a rehmannia supplement. I want to get him on B vitamins.
If you have any other tips, please let me know. I can't lose him. He's all I have left and has always always been there for me. Lost his little brother to a GI cancer back in September of 2019 too.
@@tailzzzzz how is he now 🥺 ❤️💜
@@sandhyav7401 What brand, and how much and how often should I give it to him?
His kidney values look good. He had 2 bouts of pancreatitis, but that tested negative. There's a more accurate test though.
He looks awful, and it's taking him at least an hour to eat now. I'm not sure what to do and if it's his kidneys, pancreatitis again, or something else. He did have an ultrasound done by his vet. It was normal. They managed to infect one nipple though prepping him for it. And he licks it longer with his rough tongue, so even neosporin stopped working.
How cute
Im sitting here with stage 4 breast cancer, dont know how long Ive got, but this song is a God send.
Take care as much as you can!
Be at peace. So sorry.

Bess you is my woman"
I have listened to her my whole life I'm now 65 what a voice.
Some people is asking who are the musicians accompanying her in this song. So, I made the homework and visited the site #CaroleKing #YouveGotAFriend #WelcomeToMyLivingRoom
and found they are: the one with the hat is Rudy Guess, her guitarist, musical director and producer. The other artist is Gary Burr, a Nashville-based award-winning songwriter. "Gary is a gifted singer and guitarist who combines the sensibility of the working man with that of a poet," said Carol about him. Regards from León, Gto.. México.
Thank you!

Absolutely, she is indeed a legend, an all-encompassing talent in the realm of music. Singers of yesteryears had this captivating aura, their melodies could seize your soul. Their songs were more than just music, they were like beautifully woven tales, each with an unexpected twist that you could deeply resonate with.
More talent and humility than the singers that are around today.❤

Carol King is so beautiful!
I'm literally shivering listening to this performance. I love Carole King and her songs. She has given me a reason to live for years. I was so depressed when I was growing up. My parents always worked but we were so poor. We were literally hungry enough to eat grass...my siblings and I were skin and bones. My sister passed out alot. We attended a very large church. The pastor of that church never thought to see why we were so thin....he just kept asking for money to put in the offering plate. My dad put all he had in the plate, usually a dollar. Back then a loaf of bread cost a dime. At Christmas time the church gave the poor in the congregation food. We were given a small box of canned spam, soup, rice, and beans for which we were so grateful. The pastor and his family and the organist drove new cars and lived in a mansion. We really needed help. It was hard. I miss my parents and sister, and two brothers who have passed into eternity. My great aunt sometimes gave me and my brother and sister a dime each. I took that dime to the grocery store and bought a box of jiffy mix of cornbread and baked it for my siblings. That tasted so good.
Hoping life has gotten better for you. You have my prayers, Carol. God bless you. 🙏🙏♥️
Just straigt forward music done by great musicians without elecronical gimmiks. thanks Mrs. King

You’ve Got a Friend
When you're down and troubled
And you need some lovin' care
And nothin', nothin' is goin' right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knockin' at your door
You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I'll come runnin', runnin', yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes, I will
Now, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold?
They'll hurt you, yes, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I'll come runnin', runnin', yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes, I will
You've got a friend
You've got a friend
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend
Ain't it good to know, ain't it good to know
Ain't it good to know
You've got a friend
Oh, yeah, now, you've got a friend
Yeah baby, you've got a friend
Oh, yeah, you've got a friend
The best friendship song ever sung.....
Pure singing, no falsettos, no screaming, no vibratos (my voice coach, an Opera singer taught me those things were defects, not virtues). These two are great in solos as in duets. Perfection. ❤❤❤❤
Vibratos and tremolos can be virtues if you use them right.
