Taylor really is a good public speaker. I don't know if she rights her own speeches (I have an idea that she does), but whoever does, does an OUTSTANDING job.
Taylor, you not only rock at singing and performing and creating songs, but you are also so eloquent at speeches! Congratulations Ms. King! You are iconic!
I don't follow Taylor Swift, or listen to her music. But I feel like she has gone through a major evolution in stature, authority and influence over the last couple of years, and perhaps in her own estimation of herself as well. Speeches of this kind don't always sit well in the mouths of pop / rock singers, but this was a great example of how to do it well. Everybody seems to have teams of writers these days, but this felt like she wrote it, and she delivered it fluently, with gravitas, sincerity and humour. And I was completely convinced that she was absolutely the best person to pay tribute to the beautiful, precious Carole King. Great job, Taylor. A thought came into my mind, which I batted away. But hey! this is America, so I let it come back. Are we looking at the future POTUS? President Swift, anyone? Edit: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is infamous for some of the shitty acceptance speeches that have been given by past inductees. But not by Carole King! Who is already an emeritus First Lady of the United States! 💖
This woman is an epitome of confidence. I'll be so over the moon when I could successfully learn and emulate even a fraction of that stature in the future.
Taylor gets a lot of heat from people. Those people have to be insanely jealous. Like Carole, Taylor writes, produces and plays instruments. She's the real deal, and talents like Carole are the inspiration.
This is somewhat funny. The speech is nice. Taylor is extremely well polished. She also has major, major league psychological issues. It will be very interesting to see how her career turns out.
@@dollydagger7502 'major league psychological issues', Dr Dagger? Is Taylor schizophrenic? Or bipolar? Is she crippled by severe depression? Is she a psychopath? I am somewhat curious to know, Dolly, what is your diagnosis, and what qualifies you to make it? It sounds as if you are anticipating, or hoping for, a fall from grace. But 17 years into her career as a recording artist, she is still at the top of her game, in the middle of the most lucrative concert tour in history, and the release of the re-recording of 1989 will no doubt deliver another international number 1 album. So I don't think you need to worry about how her career will 'turn out'. We've all got psychological issues - that is the human condition. What are yours, I wonder?
I can't listen to Taylor's description of Carole King, TAPESTSRY, etc. without weeping. "Tapestry" was the first Cassette tape I bought in the very early 70's. Just a few years later, in college, I lived with 3 other dudes and 4 ladies, and we all listened to Carole King over and over and over, never getting tired of it. CAROLE - THANK YOU for your very, very important contribution to my life over so many years and for so many reasons.
As a singer growing up, Carol King's "Tapestry" was a gift to me!! Every song made an impression on me and were part of my performance repertoire!! She remains one of the most gifted singer, songwriters of my time and I'm thrilled she has finally been recognized and inducted!!
you know what i was thinking the other day.... I cant wait until Taylor Swift is like 65 or something, she's just gonna be even more boss than she is now, and I bet she will still be rocking it, she'll be just like Stevie Nicks
I am smiling because you called Taylor Swift "boss". I cannot remember the last time I used that word in NYC. probably not since the 1960's! Thank you Megs
YES ❤ she has grown so much.. with so much more to come!! BUT you can certainly note her More mature nature!! But her parents still traveling with her says so much and they seem to help her stay grounded and connected to those around her!! I know she has had her very trying times but I can't recall an outing or a snapshot where she looked mad angry or even overwhelmed ❤❤ may she continue on the path that is her destiny.... holding the light of grace ❤
Taylor Swift is not only a musical genius songwriter and performer but she also is one of the greatest of all public speakers truly Taylor Swift was simply born to be a star thanks for being you Taylor ❤️
You can just tell taylors writing talent in this speech alone, she is just so talented. If she had been born in another time, wed be reading her poems, short stories and novels in english classes instead of being honored to hear her music on the radio in real time. Carole King is such a wonderful and talented woman as well, my nana absolutely LOVED her. She passed in July but seeing this makes me smile and remember her singing carole king songs at her house when I was growing up lol
Tapestry is my favorite album of all times!!! I still have the album from back in the ‘70s; one of my most prized possession!!! Love to you Carole King!!!!
I adore Taylor so much! I was born in the seventies and remember Carole's songs playing over the radio. That will be part of my life forever. I love this!
What an incredible generation of artists on one stage! Such an honor to be living at a time we get to see legends like this - Carole King and Taylor Swift of my own generation. So proud!! 💕💕
Carole King…such a fabulous artist, songwriter!!!! I heard her open for James Taylor at the old Boston Garden in 1972 and she blew the roof off of the building when she opened with ”I Feel the Earth Move”!!! I had the priveledge of seeing her a few years ago at the New Boston Garden!!! She was with James Taylor and their old friends, and she brought the house down again!!! God bless you Carole…I also loved your character in the Gilmore Girls!!! 💚💚🙏🏻🌎☮️☘️
Only time will tell. Classic music eras between 1920s - 1980s I hope are still being taught ferociously in school. I hope students appreciate this music and cherish it.
Tapestry is one of my all-time favorite albums. Both ladies did an excellent job with their speeches. Taylor, how lucky are you to be Carol King's professional granddaughter. She raised you well. Two beautiful women for sure!
I grew up, listening to Carole King. My mother played her music all the time. She’s an icon in music, and she will go down in history. That way I love every song she ever wrote.❤. America loves you Carole, King you are beautiful in so many ways.❤
I still have that Tapestry album in my collection. I've loved Carole's songs ever since I first bought it. This is a well-deserved honor! Also, a big fan of Gilmore Girls, which uses one of Carole's songs as their theme, and starred Carole in a number of episodes.
The two amazing talented beautiful greatest performer of all time. From the bottom of all our hearts ...the fans...we love and respect u so much. We need more artist like u both. Kind, Respectful and grateful. I wish I can go to your concert taylor and carole.
I love Carole King thanks to my dad that introduced me to her music while I was in primary school. Lyrics matter: nowadays this is a missing piece in most famous artists' work...
This is so absolutely brilliant. Thank you for taking the microphone and singing, and, of course your, unbelievable lyrics. Thank you, Carole! Taylor, you were spectacular.
I didn't know she inducted her! This is awesome. I love Taylor but My love for Carole began before I even knew who she was - even if you don't think you know her music, you do.
That Carole King was not among the first dozen inductees in 86-87 has always been a head-scratcher to me... The Drifters were inducted in 88... (Up On The Roof) The Shirelles in the mid 90s, (Will You Still Love Me) and 21 other inductees scored hits with her songs during their careers. I get that even Joe Dimaggio took four voting cycles to enter the Baseball HOF, but nearly 40 years... thirty + years after she and Gerry Goffin got the coveted R&R HOF Lifetime Achievement Award... Beats me...
Tapestry is probably my all time favorite album. It came out when i was a teenager and one of my best friends got me the vinyl for my birthday. It's still in great condition, still plays and is still cherished.
Can you imagine how good it feels to have a living legend introduce another? How many times have I heard the "Taylor Swift" present an award? ,when most of the time it's her who receives it. It gave me chills.
I was a teenager on a weekend vacation in a rented house by the beach when I saw my Dad playing the owner's copy of Carole King's Tapestry CD. He replied it was due to "memories". 1971.
I’m from California and been to the troubadour many times what a place what beginning for so many so many young artists where they got their start congratulations Carole King you rock she is priceless

Carole was in The Rock Hall before this. But as a songwriter along with Gerry Goffin. This induction was as a solo artist. She’s now been honored twice.

The way this girl writes, sings, speaks.. All eloquent, all from the heart. Amazing talent.
Carole and Taylor’s personalities seem kinda similar. They both never think of themselves and immediately thank others when they receive awards.
Taylor look so gorgeous here, wow. Just. Wow.
Taylor Swift knows the right words to say whether in a song or in a speech!
I love that Taylor gave a shout-out to cats by acknowledging the one on Carol Kings Tapestry album cover
why
I loved this too. Wondering when she's going to put her three babies on an album cover!
