I followed your tutorial for the Microwaveable bowl cozies and I have had them for a couple of years now. I handwash them with dawn dish soap and hot water almost daily, again, for a couple of years, and they still look as new as the day I made them. Can’t wait to make this pincushion. I have a couple of large bags of crushed walnut shells and this is perfect. Thankyou for your great tutorials. PS: I have had the Prairie Pointer for several years and NEVER used it. It’s going to get used now. YAY!
Sooo Cute. Jennifer I love your teaching. The 1st thing I made was Pin cushion from your channel, the i moved on the the Dresden plate Christmas wallhanging. Warm Regards.
Hi Jan I received my order today. Can’t wait to try the Pin Cushion and the Pointer. Love all your Demos. I learn how to by your teaching. Keep up the good work. ❤️
Somebody gave me this pattern years ago and I just didn’t know what to do with it, so I ignored it. I’m so glad you did this tutorial! What a cute pincushion! But I need to get the walnut shells and the doll needles.
I love this project!! What a great gift for my sewing friends. I am inspired to use Western-themed fabric(s) and filled with unscented walnut shells. Thank you for the tutorial! 💖
Jen, what a darling pattern! I usually don’t like making stuff like this because they are so “fussy” but I would love to have one of these pincushions. Guess I will have to get over messing with the fussiness and do it. I think I would love the pink fabric that you made in the video to go with other “essentials” in my sewing room. Thanks for the give away and sharing this great project! And I do think I would prefer the scented walnut shells. Too bad they don’t come in a rose scent! LOL. Thanks for sharing!
Wow I love the flower fabrics, so pretty. You make it so easy to make and makes me want to challenge myself but I’m a newbie so not too sure if I can make it.
I made this for the first time today with fusible hemming tape instead of glue as I pressed the prairie points and then added a small bit on each tip when joining and it was nice and safe to take to the sewing machine to do the stitching around;)
Hey these are beautiful ! What about adding the ribbon folding into triangles or fabric in the top seam to add a few clips ? Does that sound silly ? ! Lol or add it in the seams ! Idk I’m waiting for the prayer pocket prayers I can’t wait to get them ! We live in a hard time for many right now ! Ty for sharing this !
I fell in love with the Plum Perfect potholders/trivets, and looked forward to making the pin cushion, too. Fair warning, that while they are gorgeous - keep in mind the way you use your cushion. Outside of the center fabric, you could be popping your pins through up to 10 layers of fabric, which isn't always handy for quick usage with every type of pin. Still love the look, though!! Thanks for the tutorial, Jen. :)
I was thinking the same, as especially the clover pins Jen is using are very long but thin, that's the reason I love them, but if I hit the wrong spot they will just bend.
Que maravilla de trabajo!!! Como no hablo ingles, al principio me quedaba sin comprender que es. Pero al final he entendido todo perfectamente. Un "10" por el tutarial. Saludos desde España
Jen - I fell in love with the Folded Star Pin Cushion and would enjoy making it with one of your coming collections, Spiced Christmas. It really looks like a lot of fun to make! Thanks. Rosalie
Another notion you might want to use in the step where you are closing the last of the seam after you stuffed your pincushion is the 1/4 in wonder tape to hold it while you stitch it closed. It really works a treat. Also another thing you can stuff it with instead of walnut shells if you are making it for someone with nut allergies is aquarium gravel. It is clean if you use new stuff, which I would highly recommend. Just give it a quick rinse, spread it on a parchment lined cookie sheet and place it in a preheated oven, say 200 F until dry. I’m not sure how long it would take to dry. Remove and let cool before you stuff your pin cushion.
Oh, good idea. I used poly pellets in the bottom third of the dress shaped pincushion I made and it works well, but I bet the gravel would have given even more weight.
We're happy you enjoy these tutorials! We have unscented and lavender scented walnut shells available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/search?sortOrder=6&q=walnut+shell -Michelle

Hello, I just discovered a new elastic thread from Germany called Saraflex but you have to be careful while winding it on a bobbin slowly or it will warp. Just thought I would mention it I might have already mentioned it to you I'm trying to tell everyone.
Hello Jen, this is lovely. I also loved your grandmother's flower hexagon pincushion but can no longer find the video here on your channel - and I haven't quite finished mine. Can you help? Thank you.
@@ShabbyFabrics Thank you very much for your reply! I'm afraid it's not the right tutorial. The grandmother's flower pincushion was shown on the Shabby Fabrics facebook page on March 1st 2017! I notice you use Steam on your Wool Ironing Matt. I have one and was told to Never use Steam because it will cause Mold to build up on/in the Matt. Does that happen to you?
@Patricia This has not been our experience when using steam with our wool mats. However, you do need to be carful of the surface underneath the wool mat, as well as ensuring that the wool mat completely dries in between uses. -Michelle
