You made me hungry watching this! I just love your personality. You were cracking me up! Lol..I am definitely going to make these. I was born and raised in Chicago and I stayed buying these cookies - everyday! I remember sitting in the cafeteria with my friends. And as soon as the cafeteria lady wheeled in the cart full of butter cookies, there was a stampede to get in line! Lol..Sometimes they would still be warm. 🤤
Ohhh...yes! We use to do the same and they are so bombdotcom when warm!
Pinch of Soul Cooking I got the butter softening on the counter right now. You don’ started something! Lol
@@reeree242447 🤣😂🤣😂 I love it!!!
Let me know how they turn out.
Pinch of Soul Cooking Update: The cookies came out perfectly! Just the way I remembered. Buttery, melt-your-mouth. 🙌🏾 I’ve lost count of how many I’ve eaten so far. Lol..Thank you sooo much! 🤗
@@reeree242447 awesome! I'm so glad they came out just the way you remembered. This warms my heart.
I was addicted to these when I was at Dunbar. So much so, when I graduated I found an ex-lunch lady who was selling them out of her apartment. I would always pre-order my 50. Haven't had them in awhile, think I will bake them in Georgia.
Oh wow...50?!? The lunch ladies were the best at it.
They look good..
I’m from Dunbar c/0 86
C/O of 03 hello my fellow mighty men and women
This is an old fashion recipe from Chicago Public Schools. We loved these cookies at school.
I'm about to try and make these. Very good memories from CPSD!
@@eddied4969 hope it brings back great memories.
theu were like 10 or 20 cent a piece
If I don't have measuring cup, can I used a mug? For the flour?
Definitely born and raised in Chicago and definitely remembered those cookies. It’s only one thing you forgot, that damn thick ass chocolate milk they used to give us along with the cookies 😂 🤦🏾♂️
Oh yeah, that chocolate milk 😂🤣😂🤣. Thank you so much for watching. I greatly appreciate it.
Pinch of Soul Cooking No problem. I support you and all your endeavors
@@derricksm thank you.
Ok🤣😂🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I am from Chicago and I am proud to see your video. You represented our school cookies well. They look so delicious. God Bless You!
Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate that.
I am going to try it this weekend. Thanks
Chi-Town /K-Town
I’m from Chicago and most of my children attended Chicago public school. Yea these were the best and I make them all the time with a tad bit different recipe, they’re definitely the best
This is the best recipe iv seen for these butter cookies. It's just my husband and I now. I'm tired of him going to the Eastside to buy some homemade butter cookies from a little Conner store. They remind him of the cookies they served in the cafeteria as a kid. He is not going to have to leave the house after I cook these up. Thank you for sharing.
Omg my favorites! I grew up with these... 40yrs later & didn't know Mom was making Chicago public school butter cookies! 😳😁
Nostalgic....took me back to high school. Krispy cream, dunkin donuts, Subway and Baskin Robins should have these on their menu. These are just as much a Chicago staple as Garrett's popcorn.
I so agree with you! This is definitely a staple. I want some Garrett's popcorn so bad. I haven't had any in awhile.
I've been searching and searching to find this cookie recipe. ❤ Thank you very much!!! I love your ring 😊
I am sooooooo happy you posted this video. I went to Chicago Public Schools as a child and I remember nothing more than lunch when butter cookies were on the menu. They messed me up (in the best way) for life. The only thing is the cookies were huge with the 3 finger impressions. Been trying to find them ever since. Thanks again!
Oh yea....that 3 finger impression. LOL!!! Thank you for watching.
Looking forward to making these cookies, and yes, it's a very cute tin! Grew up in Chicago area... and I can still see those lunch ladies scooping out cookies!
I know that I’m older than a lot of you on this page. I was born and raised in Florida and this cookie was always on the lunch tray. I would beg all my classmates for their. I’ve made them over the years for my grandkids. You can’t beat them. They are sooooo good, but sorry, Chicago wasn’t the only school district making these. I’m 68 and I’ve had these from elementary, middle and high school. Thanks for sharing. I know this post is two years old, but I’ve just came across it.❤❤❤school butter cookies for life🙌🏽🙌🏽👍🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👍🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Iam from Chicago i went to John Marshall Highschool and Faraday elementary
I Remember those cookies yes I do
Followed the recipe and the cookies came out great!!! Thank you!

Thank you... 🥰 👍It was so easy and brings back memories from school.
Most welcome 😊
Grew up in Paterson NJ, we had these too. Funny how we all remember them! Definitely a national thing!

I'm from Oklahoma and i remember these cookies with soo much fondness ❣️ I'm going to take some butter out the freezer right now🎶💕
The Chicago Public School cookies were my favorite ones to buy they sold them at my school for 25 cents because they were jumbo size cookies and the cookies at my School didn't have the fingerprints in them
Thanks for the recipe, we really really enjoyed these cookies with our chocolate milk in the carton just liked being back in the cafeteria at Manley High School!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I appreciate how close you are to the screen so we can see how it’s supposed to look!👌🏾

You just gave me Christmas ideas. I’m 100% making these for Christmas and handing them out. I knew they were good when the dog barked! He probably smelled the goodness lol
🤣😂🤣😂 she always barking. She think she runs the house. And, that's a great idea. Homemade gifts are the best.

Awww...thank you so much.
Yes, our lunch lady Ms Betty used to sell these at Kohn Elementary School in Chicago.
I admire anyone that can bake from scratch. The cookies look good, remind me of butter cookies!
That's exactly what they are. However for some reason, back home in Chicago, these were very popular in school.
Yummy I feel like making them now😁
New Subscriber!!!! I grew up eating these cookies & they're 🔥.. thanks for sharing... my sister requested that I make these. I haven't made any in about 6 years but, I'm gonna try yours. Thanks again for sharing...

I did the recipe and put a little spin on it and it came out awesome. Thanks!

Girl yes I went to high school in Chicago know these cookies very well they sell them in Walgreens now so expensive about figuring in a container I will use you recipe
Good job!
I’m about to move in with you lol your food and treats always looking good!!
😂😂😂
I just tried a different recipe for these cookies. It was suppose to be The Chicago Public School Butter cookies. They did not use as much butter as You do. It did not tastes as buttery as the first time I ever saw a recipe for them. I am looking forward to trying Your recipe!! I already put my butter out so it will be at room temperature when I get up in the morning. I live in South Dakota! These always look so DELICIOUS!!! I cannot wait to try this, Your recipe for these YUMMY COOKIES. I know they are going to have more butter flavor. You used twice as much butter as the last recipe that I tried I cannot wait!!! I try to bake in the early mornings here. It is July and We get some HOT, HOT SUMMER DAYS HERE! I am going to turn on the air conditioning and cook these before it gets too hot outside. These look sooooooo GOOD!
Thank You for sharing Your talents with Us.
GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL OF YOUR FAMILY!!!✝️🙏🏽❤️😊👍🏼👋🏼
I would love to know how it turned out for you. The only problem I see is that the butter may be too soft if you set it out overnight. You don’t want it too soft. Maybe one or two hours of softening is all you really need.
Thank You.
Thank You 👍
YES THEY ARE DELICIOUS
Took me back honey!! Fire !
Thank you!
I used to make these all the time. For me, wetting the spoon or scoop with water from time to time made the dough release easier. I also wet my fingers before imprinting on the individual cookies. Before the vanilla exact became very expensive, this recipe was very budget friendly.
You're so right about that vanilla extract. I'm about to start the process of making my own. It's going to take awhile but once I got it, it'll be the best decision.
I’ve never heard of these but they look so yummy 😭😭 I was never a sweets person but those definitely look good af. I love me some vanilla extract
Oh, I love me some butter cookies. I have to make and eat some every Christmas.
Yes the best cookie's from Chicago public schools they were my favorite thank you for the recepie they had a cake they made to I would love to make it if you know the recipe please share it
You are so welcome! Now, the cake....I'm not sure about.
Oh My mama love these cookies!!!, Gotta show her this video lol.

YASSSSSSS!!!!!!
I definitely see you having your own netflix cooking show
I wish I could. I'm honing my craft. I thought about going on Master Chef.
I went to kershaw school I loved them cookies
Just like home!
I use to make the by the dozens and give them out for the holidays. I also did something a little different, instead of regular sugar I used powdered sugar.
Never tried powdered sugar with these before. May have to try it out.
I wanna try one 🥺 they look similar to the cookies my auntie used to make.
That makes me smile. Thank you.
Good job
these look too good! I don't need to make any cookies but when I do I am going to attempt these! lol
It's great for the holidays.
I made these a few months ago with another person recipe. I didn’t do the finger indents but I made them much bigger. Back in school in (Detroit)ours was big for 25 cents for one. I will be trying yours soon to compare. Because I’m always looking for a recipe.
Update…. I forgot to get back with you but….These came out great and I’m getting ready to do it all over again. Thank you kindly.
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it.
They was very good at Dunbar in Chicago
🥰🥰🥰Chi-Town In Tha House Grew Up on Westside & We Had The Butter & Peanut Butter Ones @10 cents A Cookie Just Age Myself Great Upload👩🏽🍳👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you! I still have to get the right mix for those peanut butter cookies.
Ouwee i know they bussin 🤤🤤
Absolutely!!!
I’m making some today! Thanks love. These cookies are $7 for 5 at Walgreens. 😭
Omg those look like some of the butter cookies that came in the blue can!
Yep, but fresh and homemade. No preservatives. 😂😂
I remember them.
Ouu they look really good, I’m writing down the ingredients cause I’m about to make this😭😋
Hope you do and hope you enjoy it.
Do you sift the flower before you add it
I actually have all these ingredients. I may have to try these👀👀
That's the beat part. The ingredients are common in most households.
I made these using vegan butter (Country Crock plant butter with olive oil) 2 sticks. Ive made them twice the first time 1/2 cup sugar, but they almost were not sweet enough. Second time 2/3 cup of sugar. MMMM good! So Hey they can be eaten by vegans!!!
Thank you for sharing that. I haven't mastered the Vegan side of food yet.
Yep 2 sticks of butter and 2/3 cups of sugar tastes the best 👌🏽
I use to eat the pink ones. From Chicago went to Martin Luther King High School
I went to private school so I would PAY my cousins that went to Forrestville and Dunbar to bring them home...lol ..
I couldnt WAIT to get my cookies during lunch at Simeon😩
I need you to do the peanut butter ones next sis
Ok! I got you.
Definitely!!
“Are your hands clean lil boy?”🤣 Are they really sweet?? Because they look good and i want to try!
Hahaha!! You gotta ask him cause he's sneaky. They aren't too sweet for me and I have a sensitive palette.
Terrell, and Hyde Park. Yass
Nothing to do with the cookies but tree tree's nails are beautiful😍😍
Oh, I'll make sure to let her know. That's one thing she loves to get done.
Terrell had these cookies. Southside chicago
I use to mix them with my chocolate milk 🥛 ❤️❤️❤️
I heard a lot of people do this. I drank regular milk with mine. 😀
Actually watching your show imma cook some probably this Sunday after work.
Okay. I tried these today and she said to set on 375 degrees for 15 minutes time. The dough was so fine and soft it was so easy plus I added lemon to my mixture. I notice cookies were starting to smell so buttery, you can smell the lemon and vanilla. I also noticed oven smelled burned and I could smell them burning almost 6 minutes into being done as she said 15 minutes tops. Well I caught them and they most definitely burned at the bottom. Some were black some were brown and black mostly all burned. The part that was brown was good but could use more butter and vanilla. I know what to do next time and that’s listen to myself and placed on a lower setting maybe for 15 minutes or less till done golden brown.
Depends on the oven as well as the cookware you use. I’ve noticed when I used my metal sheet pan the time was definitely different. I’ll adjust the directions for that. Thank you so much for trying them
I've found 350° for 22 to 24 minutes makes them golden brown
Awesome video but I needed the measurements. I am from Chicago and that was childhood memories
In the description.
I heard mom did you know CPS was also famous for their peanut butter cookies. I am trying now !😅
Yes, but for some reason my peanut butter cookies hasn't hit the mark I want. I'm still working on it though.
Is that Irish butter you’re using? Cookies look Delicious!
No Ma'am. Just regular store brand.
@@PinchofSoulCookingok thank you. Your response is greatly appreciated!
I remember putting almond flavor, in them.
How did that turn out?
I have never baked anything in my life...maybe I can learn sumn from you...
I'm not a baker. I just know a few recipes and there measurements cause baking is like chemistry. You mess up a measurement and it's ova!!!!
South side!!
