thanks for the tips, I'm going to attempt to cast a small river anchor out of aluminum bronze, and incorporate the retrieval system from the chene/paperclip. it's for a kayak, so it shouldnt need to be huge or particularly heavy.
Not to many anchors work on all bottom types. Here on the Susky in PA which can be rock or mud i use old railroad tie plates with a bolteye in them.Heavy yes but can usually be back pulled from rocks. That punisher is the Hulks grappling hook.
I don't have any experience with a boat that big, but the paperclip-looking anchor held on a muddy bottom well in the Missouri river in moderate to swift current with a 17' aluminum boat and 50' of anchor line in 20' of water. The thing I liked best was is was light enough to throw out onto wing dams like a grappling hook. It grabbed rocks really well. Also great for stabbing into the sand on the bank. Very versital. I would not use it in heavy current, but I didn't like fishing in that kind of current anyway. I stick to lakes now anyway. More relaxing. LOL
I bought a mushroom anchor River anchor and that Chene anchor I'm going to test it out and see what's one works the best four lakes rivers and inshore saltwater I have a 19 foot Mako which one you think will work best for fresh and salt water?
Great video! I lost three anchors already this summer and was so impressed to hear about the paperclip anchor!!!! It certainly will solve my problem and make fishing a lot more fun. Can you please tell me where I purchase one...was not successful on Google searches. Thanks.
Hey Sean I did not know you made it!! Great job, Anyways, thanks to your video and demo of your paperclip anchor I was able to modify my anchor so I should now be able to do a reverse pull out if stuck!!! Thanks again for that fantastic video!!!
In Florida was so many Sandy Bottom rivers and stuff they make these anchors with curled prongs instead of straight out they seem to hook a lot better you should try that Alisa 6 foot chain
At least I don't feel so bad about pulling out on the highway wondering why my car wasn't running worth a darn. I guess you're supposed to take the emergency brake off? Same as anchors.....not too good dragging them.....what did you say ...a mile and a 1/2? We all have our little life events and luckily we've lived through all of them! (up until now).
No thank you for the review and showing the types of anchors, I fish lakes mostly and the anchors I have used I am not happy with, I cannot stand the boat wigwagging back and forth because the anchor will not hold and the ropes work slack into the because of it.When I'm cat fishing I want the boat to stay still. Thanks again.
I have used alot of homemade anchors, and I thought you have some great ideas--- good job and thanks for sharing.
Good anchor review...thanks

I am looking for more reviews on the Chene anchor.

Will this river anchor hold in heavy river current? If so what pound anchor would I need for a 21' Starcraft CC, 150 HP Merc Aluminum boat??

You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Have you ever tried a St. Lawrence River anchor. Upside down pyramid with top cut off and rope through the middle. Made of lead.
+Chris Farougi No, I have not had the opportunity. Thanks for watching!
