I will probably piss off some people with this comment but too bad. Two completely different people, different music styles, different vocal tones. Its not really intelligent to compare them. Just appreciate all the entertainment they provided to us. They are BOTH great in their own niche.
Exactly my thoughts too. Freddie sang anything and everything from rock to opera extra. The other guy is a heavy metal singer. Whole different ball game
Best comment. And music is not a F1 race to see who is the first or a arena for battles. Only poor minds think in terms of battles, the best here, there...Top lists only serve to sell magazines... today there are no more rock magazines, they serve to sell the news.
Comparing vocal technique though Bruce almost never struggled Freddie had vocal nodules due to improper technique, there were many live instances where he couldn't sing middle to high notes and he had to yell everything. Bruce's power, consistency and longevity is something else.
He did have issues on the World Slavery Tour; listen to "Aces High" on "Live after death". Still, I broadly agree with you. It didn't help Freddie that he smoked.
Both are the best singers for their Band. Queen is my favorite because they did so much different Kind of music. Long live the king/queen and up the irons.
Dickinson is my favorite frontman ever. If you told me Freddy was your favorite I’d say you have good taste. Both are legends. Bruce’s longevity is something that should be studied, him and Halford both. That said, as much of a perfectionist as Freddy was it wouldn’t surprise me if his longevity was just as impressive. Sadly we will never know. Grateful for the music we have from both of them!
Bruce doesn't get the recognition as much only because of the fact that queen is closer to more commercial type of music. Simply the factor is all that is NOT Bruce in the band😄. I love both Maiden and Queen by the way. I wonder how good Freddie would be at this age, because Bruce even though went through throat cancer and 45 years of screaming is still doing great in his 60s
That’s a great insight! Metal has always lacked respect, unjustly so I might add. I honestly think classic metal is one of the classiest music forms there is, much more so than rock and roll. It’s more sophisticated, intense, and dramatic, and it always feels like the lyrics mean more. It reminds me a bit of opera. And yah it’s hard to say. Mercury was at his vocal peak in his final 5-10 years in my opinion. His only seemed to upgrade. The Show Must Go On and Gimme the Prize are his two best vocal achievements imo. And yes, Bruce is still crushing it!
My opinion is both singers are amazing and legendary. Without a doubt, Bruce Dickinson is a better man and he’s proved it for a long period of time. Even now in 2024 he’s fronting iron maiden while releasing awesome solo album. Again, that’s just my Personal opinion Both are awesome. Rock on Friends:)
There's a lot of singers who sound much like Bruce but nobody can sound exactly like Freddie, even the best impersonators. Bruce relies on reverb and delay far more.... and maybe a little autotune. His strong vibrato and copious use of it means he doesn't hold many notes, especially the important ones. Bruce fits Maiden's metal as well as Freddie fit Queen's rock, but Freddie was by far the better singer and piano player, but not fencer, pilot, DJ, ++!
@@PrivateSi A) Bruce never uses auto tune you halfwit B) there are so many impersonators of Freddie on UA-cam that sound EXACTLY like him. Are you just going to conveniently ignore those? You Queen fanboys really have no argument. Can’t cope with the fact that other singers are clearly superior to Freddie, as I clearly demonstrated in this video.
I really do not think that we should even be comparing Freddie & Bruce, and even though Bruce Dickinson is my all-time favorite singer, Freddie is probably in my top three favorites. Both singers can have fantastic opera like voices if they want to. Freddie has an unbelievable voice & vibrato and can really belt out those slower song/ballad high notes, whereas Bruce can mesmerize you with his story telling and strong vibrato (1982 Live Hammersmith 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'), and Bruce can carry his vibrato strong and evenly for a long long time, alot longer than Freddie, but that is just my opinion. So to be fare to both iconic singers i am just going to say that Bruce & Freddie are the best singers in their genre, plus both have a kick-ass original style of singing, where Freddie's awesome voice can make people cry, Bruce's awesome voice can scare you while also taking you on a journey. That is another thing that i like about Iron Maiden songs, most of them are like a having history lesson, but only if you pay attention, LoL...So i think it is safe to say that you really can't compare them accurately but are both the best in their class. But again this is just my opinion. Sorry this is sooo long. Thank You. ~Brian~ 🤘🤘 White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Thank you for your comment Brian! I agree with much of your sentiment, think of this video as less of a petty comparison and more of a love letter that honors two incredible singers. In case you were curious, I give Bruce the win for stamina and power whereas I give Mercury the win for versatility and having cleaner high notes. Cheers mate! -Joseph Bend, Oregon
Great comment but within my understanding of vocal anatomy and physiology within what I studied and researched on the vocal structure of these singers, Ronnie James Dio is a more virtuoso and consistent vocalist than both and in addition to having a more powerful operatic rock voice; Dio can belt with ease and much greater control, maintaining a very balanced vibrato on notes in the fifth octave, with a fully open throat singing in a full chest voice of A4-E5 without any effort or any noticeable tension in the facial and throat muscles. , he has much greater muscular control over his vocal mechanism compared to any other singer I know; See his performances in Chicago 1978, Ottawa 1982, San Francisco 1982 and Manchester 1983; are great examples.
@@luamoliveira3467 Wow that is a highly detailed comment and I’m not sure I even have the wherewithal to debunk it. I do think Dio is hard to beat for sure, but I’d have to think that those things you were saying about him have to apply to Bruce at least to some degree. I think Bruce was known his his immense upper range and being able stay up there with a lot of power and consistency, and Bruce also has one of the best vibratos ever. Based on my own understanding I’d say it’s basically a tie between them.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Bruce is fantastic and one of the best for me in general, his vibrato is one of the best and his voice is quite powerful, regarding to Dio, in my opinion he had a perfect command of his vocal instrument through the modern open throat technique in an extremely advanced level and his vowels were very open most of the time and he did not demonstrate resistance to his breathing due also to his high level of glottal compression, and in this context he did not show signs of glottal effort such as that sign of fully balanced compression natural as many singers usually present when it is above the passagio in the chest mix (a level that in my opinion not even great virtuoso and technically impeccable lyrical singers like Franco Corelli or Pavarotti managed to reach and especially with the same consistency) , its diaphragmatic support and his vocal control, in my opinion, was better too and you can see how he finishes his shows with almost no sign of muscular fatigue evident in his speech, even singing with a strong rhythmic intensity like Bruce himself used to do at his peak and even in that situation in that he is using all that excessive load of throat harmonic distortion, which makes it even more complex; I just believe that Ronnie is a more virtuous singer in general, in fact this was even mentioned by two great lyrical singing teachers Elizabeth Zharoff and Zach Ansley, I was even surprised when both teachers put Ronnie James Dio( a rock singer/ metal) in his Top 3 of the best singers of all time together with Pavarotti immediately in one of his interviews, especially because he always hears a lot of resistance from them with metal singers especially, another lyrical singing teacher called Beth Roars called Dio a vocal master and said he was one of the best vocalists of all time and even stated that he was his "vocal God in terms of perfect singing" in an isolated video, many were surprised but within my understanding of singing it's no surprise they were so impressed with Ronnie's vocal ability and consistency in his live performances; Analyzing the issue of range, I did some research on all of his vocal material and even on some informative websites about the vocal range of these rock singers, and from what I found, he reached his highest notes in mixed voice in the song " What Cost War from 1997" and its highest note in the flute voice register with harmonic distortion in the song Gypsey in 2006; its general range varied from C#2 in chest voice to a Bb6 in flute voice register, in my opinion it is quite large overall.
I think bruce is a better technical singer he can hit high notes that would give tenors trouble, and he was a baritone. Freddie has more power to his high notes, which makes sense cause he's a tenor.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 I don't know if he was technically better, but his ability to change his vocals to fit the song is incredible. His voice is sonically pleasing to my ears. Add in his composing, lyrical genius, energy, presentation, and his fearlessness in trying different things, and that makes him the best for me.
Very good video. I do like how you pinned Somebody to Love against the Flight of Icarus, very good competition I wouldn't have considered but it turned out well. Although I still stand by my claim of Mercury's higher level of skill, I do agree with you that Bruce does not get the recognition he deserves, he really shines in his sustained high notes in my opinion. I would be happy to have a civilized discussion on both singer's complete skill and where they lie in comparison to each other. Personally Mercury's versatility wins it for me, but high notes could be a toss up. I am glad to discuss such things if you are able. Overall great video and I thoroughly enjoyed it, your channel deserves more recognition because I genuinely enjoy the videos you post and I think you do a great job on them. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you for the kind words. I have grown a huge appreciation for Mercury through making this video and would rank him quite high now. I still am not going to pretend to be a fan of Queen or his solo music, as I am a Metal head and the more light/easy listening rock and roll sound does nothing for me. For me the skill level could be more complicated than I initially thought. I give Mercury points over Bruce for versatility (Gimme the Prize vs Show Must Go On would be a good example of him changing his styles up very nicely) but Bruce gets points for having more power. Range is a bit of a toss up, clearly both singers had immense ranges and could sing crazy high and crazy low. Bruce's vibrato is clearly stronger, but Mercury could reach those absurdly high notes in the 5th and 6th octaves (A5 and higher) in a more clean and effortless way, where as Bruce typically has to scream in order to get that high. And yes, it's also worth recognizing that Mercury could go higher as well. After listening to a lot of Queen I personally think his best vocal performances are Gimme the Prize, Show Must Go On, Somebody to Love, Love is the Hero, Innuendo, Don't Stop Me Now, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Who Wants to Live Forever. As for live, that You Take My Breath Away performance you recommended is absolutely jaw dropping. I'd say Bruce is still #1 but I'd probably rank Mercury between 4 and 6 idk. I'd have to listen to him more to really decide. Where would you rank Bruce roughly?
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Yes, I believe the two can definitely contend with each other. Mercury's performance of You Take My Breath Away was absolute perfection, and Hallowed Be Thy Name is one of my favorite songs based on vocals alone. I think in terms of sheer power and stamina Bruce takes the cake, but in terms of technique and versatility/clear high notes Mercury wins. That is just my opinion. My ranking of Bruce in best singers list has always been at the 2 or 3 mark. The only people I would put above him would be Whitney Houston (not a fan of her music but I do love her voice) or of course Mr. Fahrenheit. My list would be: 1: Freddie Mercury 2: Bruce/Whitney 3: Whitney/Bruce 4: Ronnie James Dio 5: Stevie Wonder 6: Aretha Franklin 7: Luciano Pavarotti 8: Rob Halford 9: Robert Plant 10: Paul McCartney What is your top 10?
@@goldbrickstudios6903 I'm gonna have to listen to more Queen to know for sure where I'd rank Freddie now. I only recently, and in preparation for this video, did even somewhat adequate research into his songs and really studied the vocals. So as of now maybe- #1. Bruce Dickinson #2. Ronnie James Dio #3. Rob Halford #4. Freddie Mercury OR Geoff Tate #5. Geoff Tate OR Freddie Mercury #6. Jeff Buckley #7. Robert Plant (1968-1972) #8. Paul Rodgers #9. Ian Gillan #10. Chris Cornell or Mike Patton or Steve Perry Btw I will fully admit I have a bias in favor of heavy metal. It’s my favorite genre by a hundred to one margin and I adore the singing style that Bruce, Dio, and Halford pioneered. But as of now I’m not totally comfortably saying they are “better” than Mercury in an objective sense. It’s close for sure. Iv'e never listened to Houstan's music so I can't comment on her. I also have only listened to Nessu Dorma from Pavorotti so I can't really comment on him either. Obviously I know they are amazing singers but I really am not familiar with them. EDIT: Just listened to some Houstan. Holy shit that woman can sing.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Yes Houston is a very talented singer. Her power is what stands out to me in combination with her clarity. I understand your bias for Heavy Metal singers. Just think about it, there can be a bad pop singer and they can still get by. With metal, you need to have some sort of talent in some form, which is why I greatly admire the singers from the genre. If want to get into some Queen songs with heavy metal kick I would highly recommend listening to songs like: Keep Your Self Alive Stone Cold Crazy (One of the first thrash metal songs) Dead on Time Son and Daughter Ogre Battle Death on Two Legs (Very unique guitar solo) Liar (my favorite from that era) If you listen to them, tell me your favorite because I am quite interested in your outside opinion of them. Those songs are their earliest work and sound very Zeppelin/Sabbath oriented, so if you want a more mainstream feel you can always keep on listening to later ones like Gimme The Prize, I Want It All, Tie Your Mother Down, Now I'm Here and my personal favorite, Fat Bottomed Girls. I would love to hear a list of your favorite metal songs so I could take a listen to them. I would like to hear more Iron Maiden because I am already quite fond of their work, and you know all of the obscure gems of theirs so I would be very interested in hearing those. Anyways thanks for responding and have a good rest of your day sir. Can't wait for the next video.
@@goldbrickstudios6903Gimme the Prize is one of my favorite metal songs ever. Makes me wish they did more songs like that. What’s your thoughts on Jeff Buckley? Also, may I ask what Mcartney performances make you think he deserves to be so high? I’m honestly curious because I’m not aware of any that blow my mind (but I also don’t listen to the Beatles)
Love all these singers! It is entirely subjective. I personally prefer Dickinson, yet still love the timbre of Freddie’s voice. Personally I prefer Myles Kennedy above all of them - and objectively his 4 octave range is amazingly great and that he controls with impressive breath control and pitch. Some People will harsh on the perceived lack of snarl/grit (to that I refer you to Find The Real) but it is true he usually sings clean, especially as he ages (in his 50’s now ) probably to protect his vocal chords(?), and can easily and powerfully reproduce those epic highs in a Live setting! I also just love the timbre of his voice, whether belting or in hushed tones 💪 Anyways, the point being; this is a highly subjective exercise when you ask for someone’s favorite. If you ask about control and technique between the two contestants you put up here - its Dickenson all the way!
ROB HALFORD IS METALS BEST VOCALIST AND I CAN TELL BECAUSE I SING MYSELF, HALFORD IS THE METAL GOD, THANK YOU ROB YOURE THE BEST, OF THIS WORLD PAL!!! AFZ.BOR777
For me , Mercury wins . Just listen The Hitman . An amazing example of strength when the man was almost dying. And an example that Freddie was as powerful as other heavy or hard rock singers .
Thank you for the comment! I do agree that The Hitman is a good vocal performance, but I would argue Gimme the Prize is the one that shows Mercury's borderline metal level of power in his voice. However, when it comes to POWER (as well as stamina), Bruce is a clear winner. He has a bigger voice than Mercury. I do think Mercury wins in the versatility department. He also deserves credit for cleaner high notes. Bruce wins for vibrato and control as well I would say but that could be a bit more of a toss up. What do you think?
Because the author of the video is a "fanboy" of Bruce Dickson and the fanboy never admits the opinion of the majority where even great Rock artists claim that Freddie's voice is considered the greatest of all time. Bruce is a great singer, does he have a remarkable voice? Yes! There are many other great, phenomenal singers. His "pain" is knowing that Freddie is considered the most striking and iconic voice. Hugs friend
@@LCMSRJIf Bruce were Metallica' or Ac/Dc' singer, probably he were at same level of popularity and considerations with Mercury. Don't compare Rock and Metal
One of them is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) singers of all time , the other one is the GOD BRUCE ! Bruce can sing anything that Freddie can, but Freddie will not gonna survive the intense energy and power voice of Bruce , they are not even in the same league dont compare them
Honestly, while it is interesting to see the exact differences in approach between them, I don't think it makes too much sense to even compare them at all. They are two very different kinds of singer, with very different techniques and tone. Both are absolutely iconic, have instantly recognizable voices and are very competent in what they're doing. I mean everyone has their own taste and preferences, but I think both of these singers are probably the best in filling their specific roles in their bands respectively, so it would be hard for me to say that one is "better" than the other. I mean, would Queen really be a better band if Bruce was the singer instead of Freddie? Probably not. Would Iron Maiden be a better band if Freddie was their singer? Also no.
Very good points all around. I would say that Bruce and Freddie are different for sure but have enough in common to be compared decently. They both have clean singing styles, as well as sing dramatically with big ranges. Also, one is rock and roll/hard rock and the other is metal. Not identical genres, but related genres for sure. For me it comes down to which singer has the more difficult songs to replicate, and I would argue that unquestionably goes to Bruce. There is no way Queen songs would be more difficult to sing than Maiden.
Freddie had a voice that was so versatile and he could sing any type of music. Bruce has a great rock voice, but I can't imagine him singing opera, like Freddie.
Bruce’s voice was more operatic and more powerful, so why wouldn’t he be able to do opera as well? What a strange genre to pick, that’s the one other genre besides metal that is blatantly obvious Bruce would be amazing in.
Music is not a place to battles, it's not an arena for gladiators. Some comparisons do not make any sense. Top lists only serve to sell magazines... today there are no more magazines, they serve to sell the news. Both singers are great...different styles, different approaches to songs.
Well I find that to be a weird claim seeing as Bruce's voice is objectively much bigger and more powerful. You can argue other things in Mercury's favor, but certainly not that.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958WTH? Bruce’s voice is more powerful than Freddie’s? Listen to Freddie singing Bohemian Rhapsody in Montreal 1981 and not at least The show must go on! Freddie’s whole performance throughout the entire song is maybe the greatest vocal performance EVER considering the was deathly ill, couldn’t stand and died not long after!
@@08-kris61 It is not even debatable whose voice is more powerful. You’d have to have literal issues with your hearing to suggest otherwise. There are other aspects of their singing that you could argue Freddie is superior with, and on some of those things even I would agree, but power and stamina are two categories Bruce is objectively better in. Any reasonable Queen fan would admit this.
Pretty odd way to put it. Bruce can effortlessly produce notes that are high yet outrageously powerful. My favourite example is the chorus of "The evil that men do", where the note he sings isn't that high, but as powerful as any I've ever heard. And he does it so casually.
A completely pointless comparison. Two completely different characters, two completely different ages and styles. But they are both legends.

Its Like you ask me do i love more mom or dad? Maidens and Bruce are #1-2-3 in my heart Queen and Freddie are for me top 3 bands of all times. Too hard to say #1 with so many legends, but If he lived more, they would take #1 for sure.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Bruce and totally agree he deserves to be higher on the lists we see of the greatest ever frontmen. He is just amazing. But this isn’t even a contest. Even solely on the evidence in this video Freddie is a level above.
Look, i think, when you enter that ground, the chat is not about who is better, it`s just about who do you prefer, it's not always that someone to be good, somebody need to be worst right? for me? I am more attached to Dickinson's voice, but i love Freddie's too. So i think the world can stop asking who is better, and start to asking why the most part of people don't listen or buy this kind of music anymore, and only buy that great shit on the industry right now.
How exactly can there be physical evidence that someone's voice was "better"? That's an oxymoron. Whose voice is "better" is subjective. I like Bruce's voice a thousand times better than Mercury. But if we are talking objective, then you're full of shit and so is that study. Bruce's voice is objectively more powerful, he has better control, more stamina, and a more consistent and strong vibrato. What exactly is Freddie better at? Don't just say "a study says so herp!!"
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Voice range, working with voice and also his voice is stronger And his doctors lyterally confirmed that he has larger vocal cords witch was so helpfull
@@Nickname.Mercury How can they possibly know he has bigger vocal chords than Bruce? That's the dumbest statement I have ever heard. As for range, Bruce's range is C#2-C#6 and Freddie's is F#2-F#6. So they both have 4 octaves exactly. Freddie can go higher Bruce can go lower. Also, it is a fact that Bruce has a more powerful voice. Undeniable fact. If you have other things you think make Freddie better besides that I would like to hear them. So far you are just talking firmly out of your ass.
@@Nickname.Mercury Assuming that's true what difference does that make? Are you implying that a singer is automatically better than another if they have more recorded octaves? Are you willing to admit that Axl Rose is a better singer than Freddie Mercury then? He certainly has more octaves so he must be better right? Is David Lee Roth a better singer than Luciano Pavarotti? He has way more recorded range so he must be better right? See how stupid this argument is? Power, control, stamina, etc are better indicators of who is a better singer, and Bruce objectively creams Mercury in these areas, as clearly demonstrated in this video. If you have a counterargument I'd love to hear it, but please use actual evidence and not just baseless assertions.
Freddie could sing anything. He almost did sing everything. Bruce is great, but really i get tired of hearing more or less the same from his singing way. The best quality that Freddie had, is that he sang what the song demanded. I can't say the same for Bruce. Anyway, depending on your taste, we are lucky to have them in our music journey. Rock on my friends.
At 61 I've had the opportunity to have seen both. Freddie is finesse at it's best, Bruce is brute force with just a touch of finesse. Depending on ones preference it's a solid pick. Bruce for me though.
@@sgt_slobber.7628 Do you have a source for that? The singers I’ve frequently heard Bruce site as an influence are Dio, Gillan, Arthur Brown, Paul Rosgers, Robert Plant, and Ian Anderson.

For someone that smoked and was dying could still kill it to the very end. His voice cracked cause of him singing so hard to the point his voice was exhausted. Smoking didn’t help. But he is still the king
Both from another world. But Freddie was able to sing in many other ways. He could set the item and completely change his style in order to sing everything.
Freddie has a sharper, clearer tone. Bruce has a more powerful undertone. Both can hit the notes - that is no issue for either singer. Freddie was the best singer for Queen. Bruce is the best singer for Iron Maiden.
While both gentlemen have great range, enunciation and theatrical melody-conveying ability, I would say Bruce’s skill is superior and his live performances is more consistent, no problem belting notes around C5 for long. Freddie actually admitted himself in several interviews that his technics have flaws, but he just went on with it for the sake of rock. Resulting in his inability to reproduce half of the high notes in their album during live performances for most of his career. Freddie’s tone and phrasing is what really sets him apart, he just brought a song to life like no other, which keeps bringing my ears back to him.
Muy cierto, usaba el falseo muy a menudo en las notas altas en vivo, ya que por agotamiento u otras causas (sus fiestas nocturnas le dejaban en un estado lamentable), muy a menudo no podia ejecutarlas en directo.
Freddie had faster vibrato comparing to Bruce. Generally I prefer Freddie, because I’ve been listening to him for years, but both are high quality singers. Sadly, current generation cannot witness such beautiful people.
cannot be decided who is better... all of them individal and on theyre characters theyre the best! and gave something new to the world! and there was no mention of Dio! Anyway... Long Live Rock and Roll!!!!!!
Can you be more specific? Is there anything Freddie can do vocally Bruce can’t? Or are you just referring to your entirely subjective feelings while listening to them? It’s fine if you are I just want clarification.

Layers and layers of vocals and really is a patchwork or oddments and not really that good.
Two amazing singers, each in his own category, with completely different styles. They shouldn't be compared in my opinion, as they achieved greatness in different musical genres. Dickinson is more versatile (able to cover well more styles), Mercury has a more unique/characteristic voice. Dickinson has a raspier voice, Mercury a softer one. Their highest notes are hit with totally different styles but they both get out of their normal signing voice: Dickinson screams, while Mercury turns even softer (Muse's Bellamy copies him in that). I wouldn't count either of these strategies in their vocal range. Having said that, as a huge Maiden fan, I have to state an unfair point between the two. Freddie's death prevented his voice and image from exposure to age-related degradation. With both singing very demanding vocals, Dickinson has been in gradual decline after 2011-2012. He always was less lyrical and less flexible than Mercury, but nowadays he struggles a lot to be decent at concerts. This does not change the fact that he is a legend, like Freddie, but I'm just stating the obvious. Still a more than capable singer, with way less flexibility and range compared to the past.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 i think that Bruce is a little hard to understand when he is singing too high notes, specially live, and Freddie could change from normal voice to falsetto better than Bruce, this is really hard, so thats why i think he had a better control, and Freddie had more stabilitty during his carrier, never had a bad fase, bruce's voice changed a lot during the 80's, If you compare beast over hammersmith to Maiden England you will understand, but he got much more controled and heathy since 1990

So in what ways was Freddie better? I am getting tired of no one even attempting to justify this. And which voice is more "beautiful" is not what I mean. That is just a matter of taste, I personally find Bruce's voice more beautiful. But in terms of control, power, vibrato, range, diction, etc.

@@PrivateSi A) Bruce never uses auto tune you halfwit
B) there are so many impersonators of Freddie on UA-cam that sound EXACTLY like him. Are you just going to conveniently ignore those?
You Queen fanboys really have no argument. Can’t cope with the fact that other singers are clearly superior to Freddie, as I clearly demonstrated in this video.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Może są i lepsi , ale nie mają tej charyzmy, jaką miał Freddie.....
que buen material maestro 👏👏👏👏 felicitaciones por el video !!! dos grandes voces !!!
Thank You.

Indeed 🤘🤘
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Bruce is fantastic and one of the best for me in general, his vibrato is one of the best and his voice is quite powerful, regarding to Dio, in my opinion he had a perfect command of his vocal instrument through the modern open throat technique in an extremely advanced level and his vowels were very open most of the time and he did not demonstrate resistance to his breathing due also to his high level of glottal compression, and in this context he did not show signs of glottal effort such as that sign of fully balanced compression natural as many singers usually present when it is above the passagio in the chest mix (a level that in my opinion not even great virtuoso and technically impeccable lyrical singers like Franco Corelli or Pavarotti managed to reach and especially with the same consistency) , its diaphragmatic support and his vocal control, in my opinion, was better too and you can see how he finishes his shows with almost no sign of muscular fatigue evident in his speech, even singing with a strong rhythmic intensity like Bruce himself used to do at his peak and even in that situation in that he is using all that excessive load of throat harmonic distortion, which makes it even more complex; I just believe that Ronnie is a more virtuous singer in general, in fact this was even mentioned by two great lyrical singing teachers Elizabeth Zharoff and Zach Ansley, I was even surprised when both teachers put Ronnie James Dio( a rock singer/ metal) in his Top 3 of the best singers of all time together with Pavarotti immediately in one of his interviews, especially because he always hears a lot of resistance from them with metal singers especially, another lyrical singing teacher called Beth Roars called Dio a vocal master and said he was one of the best vocalists of all time and even stated that he was his "vocal God in terms of perfect singing" in an isolated video, many were surprised but within my understanding of singing it's no surprise they were so impressed with Ronnie's vocal ability and consistency in his live performances; Analyzing the issue of range, I did some research on all of his vocal material and even on some informative websites about the vocal range of these rock singers, and from what I found, he reached his highest notes in mixed voice in the song " What Cost War from 1997" and its highest note in the flute voice register with harmonic distortion in the song Gypsey in 2006; its general range varied from C#2 in chest voice to a Bb6 in flute voice register, in my opinion it is quite large overall.
i Am a faithful follower of metal and the rock and they both sing spectacularly, but simply you can not comparate them, is my humble opinion
Why ?
A mi parecer podrías haber puesto una ocasión donde Freddie canto Boh Rhap en vivo, ya que en vivo no usa el falsete para tocar las notas altas
Both great, but i prefer much more Bruce Dickinson
I think bruce is a better technical singer he can hit high notes that would give tenors trouble, and he was a baritone. Freddie has more power to his high notes, which makes sense cause he's a tenor.
Bruce dickinson is amazing, but ronnie james dio will forever be the best singer in metal

Great job! I think one important criterion is missing: emotion! I'm a Maiden fan, but to me Mercury gets more emotion into his voice.
Fahrenheit.
My list would be:
1: Freddie Mercury
2: Bruce/Whitney
3: Whitney/Bruce
4: Ronnie James Dio
5: Stevie Wonder
6: Aretha Franklin
7: Luciano Pavarotti
8: Rob Halford
9: Robert Plant
10: Paul McCartney

@@goldbrickstudios6903 I'm gonna have to listen to more Queen to know for sure where I'd rank Freddie now. I only recently, and in preparation for this video, did even somewhat adequate research into his songs and really studied the vocals. So as of now maybe-
#1. Bruce Dickinson
#2. Ronnie James Dio
#3. Rob Halford
#4. Freddie Mercury OR Geoff Tate
#5. Geoff Tate OR Freddie Mercury
#6. Jeff Buckley
#7. Robert Plant (1968-1972)

Btw I will fully admit I have a bias in favor of heavy metal.
If want to get into some Queen songs with heavy metal kick I would highly recommend listening to songs like:
Keep Your Self Alive
Stone Cold Crazy (One of the first thrash metal songs)
Dead on Time
Son and Daughter
Ogre Battle
Death on Two Legs (Very unique guitar solo)
Liar (my favorite from that era)
If you listen to them, tell me your favorite because I am quite interested in your outside opinion of them.

O my god, thank you for this video👍
Both great singers . It just boils down to whom you like more.
I also just love the timbre of his voice, whether belting or in hushed tones 💪
Anyways, the point being; this is a highly subjective exercise when you ask for someone’s favorite.
Listen to Bruce sing Talesman live.. Thats power control and massive breath control.
Both great singers in their own categories. Compare them? What for?
Because the author of the video is a "fanboy" of Bruce Dickson and the fanboy never admits the opinion of the majority where even great Rock artists claim that Freddie's voice is considered the greatest of all time. Bruce is a great singer, does he have a remarkable voice? Yes! There are many other great, phenomenal singers.
His "pain" is knowing that Freddie is considered the most striking and iconic voice.

Una cosa está muy clara y es que no sabemos como hubiera envejecido la voz de Mercury, pero en cambio si sabemos, como lo ha hecho la de Bruce, que para mi cada vez canta mejor, todo un profesional y mas después de superar un cancer de lengua
They both have very recognizable and unique voices, you can't confuse them with anyone. Great vocalists and frontmens
Both are GREAT!
No way man bruce's voice was operatic as well

And Flight of Icarus doesn’t?
In an epic battle like this one, we are the winners. Freddy is awesome, but I prefer Bruce.
Up the Irons from the Netherlands!
Music is not a place to battles, it's not an arena for gladiators. Some comparisons do not make any sense. Top lists only serve to sell magazines... today there are no more magazines, they serve to sell the news. Both singers are great...different styles, different approaches to songs.
Both great voices
Bruce Dickinson's voice is equivalent to a planet.
Freddie Mercury's voice is equivalent to a universe
Well I find that to be a weird claim seeing as Bruce's voice is objectively much bigger and more powerful. You can argue other things in Mercury's favor, but certainly not that.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958WTH? Bruce’s voice is more powerful than Freddie’s? Listen to Freddie singing Bohemian Rhapsody in Montreal 1981 and not at least The show must go on!

Queen and Freddie are for me top 3 bands of all times. Too hard to say #1 with so many legends, but If he lived more, they would take #1 for sure.
What is the point in comparing the two? Two different styles and genres
Don’t get me wrong. I love Bruce and totally agree he deserves to be higher on the lists we see of the greatest ever frontmen. He is just amazing.
But this isn’t even a contest. Even solely on the evidence in this video Freddie is a level above.
Can you please elaborate? This video clearly demonstrates Bruce has more power, range, and stamina. Mercury has more versatility, that’s about it.
They are both in my top 2 of all-time.
Dickinson is the best for heavy metal fans and Mercury for all types music lovers.

There are literally Physiological evidence that Freddie not only had the largest voice range, but also that working with the voice was better

@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Freddie actually has 4 octaves but he was able to hit not just F but also C and G witch is more.

@@zamorafcbr1855listen to Bruce singing man of sorrows. That ain't no goofy voice. Any way Freddie was the only goofy one! To be honest queen only ever done one or two good songs on each of their albums the rest were generally crap. And their most famous song is only good because of effects.
I find Bruce a lot more impressive than Freddy. Bruce’s wow factor is truly amazing
Power: Bruce
Range: Bruce
Note sustain: Bruce
Vibrato: Bruce
Control: Freddie
Diction: Freddie
Idk if I’d pick control. Bruce’s voice doesn’t crack as often. Diction is a toss up, they both have excellent pronunciation.
@@TheGreatestVoice1958 i think that Bruce is a little hard to understand when he is singing too high notes, specially live, and Freddie could change from normal voice to falsetto better than Bruce, this is really hard, so thats why i think he had a better control, and Freddie had more stabilitty during his carrier, never had a bad fase, bruce's voice changed a lot during the 80's, If you compare beast over hammersmith to Maiden England you will understand, but he got much more controled and heathy since 1990
Bruce Dickinson💪🔥#1
Maiden being my n1 band I love Bruce but Freddie was unique, god rest his soul! Btw, Bruce's 'The Mandrake Project' is amazing! ❤
And Bruce isn’t unique? He’s one of the most unique people that’s ever lived.
I love Dickinson on Tears of the Dragon
Only Bruce. Don’t like the other ❤
Two different people and singers.
Nothing to compare even tho I say Bruce is my favorite singer you can't compare these two legends.
Freddie
Freddie's voice was beautiful. Bruce is a legend with an incredible voice, and I love his solo stuff, Maiden, but I have to admit Freddie was a little better. Maybe not so much better, but different. Got to say though, that Tears of the Dragon performance is staggering. What a voice, what a song!
So in what ways was Freddie better? I am getting tired of no one even attempting to justify this. And which voice is more "beautiful" is not what I mean. That is just a matter of taste, I personally find Bruce's voice more beautiful. But in terms of control, power, vibrato, range, diction, etc.
Vince Freddie su tutti
I love Bruce, but in terms of versatility and magic in his voice, Freddie is unmatched, Mercury is capable of singing the Hitman, Gimme the Prize and something as opposite as cool cat or singing with Montserrat Caballe, it's hard for me to see him in Bruce
Bruce has a more of a tenor quality in his voice but regardless both are great singers
no one will replace the original
It's true that Bruce is a GREAT singer... But to compare him to Freddie, well... THERE IS NO COMPARISON - PERIOD!
Yes, there is no comparison because Bruce is better💪🔥🤟
Bruce forever❤❤
For me Freddie Mercury
Mr. Bruce Dickinson is always number one
Mercury n'a pas besoin de forcer sa voix.
