I am head over heels in love with this song. The first time I heard it I was driving down the highway with the volume as loud as it could go. Instantly I felt relaxed, inspired, tuned in, aware. A feeling of peace came over me. It was beautiful. This is MUSIC!
The first time I heard under the pressure was live in Brixton in London. A man who couldn't go handed me his ticket outside the underground station. I was months post divorce....not in a good space. I had never heard of TWOD. Random acts of kindness change lives. Thank you man and thank you Adam.
...the first time i heard under the pressure i was riding on my moto bike through the Karoo desert in South Africa, this song takes you to another place , especially at the 4min breakaway , sax & drums , BRAVO to these guys & thank you
I had cool finding them. Fell asleep with the tv on and they were playing as I was waking up and a late night show was on and that’s where they were playing. I remember coming out of sleep being into it and like wait this isn’t something im familiar with. Glad I caught it. Been a fan since. It was this song back in like 2015-16 somewhere. The next album with Pain I loved. A Deeper Understanding an even bigger triumph of songs.
This band has something magical about them. It's just this feeling of hope and promise, that everything will work out in the end. These guys are perfect listening for long drives or long walks. Please don't stop making music like this TWOD, we need your music right now!
I first heard this song cycling to work. It was a dreary morning and it came on a Spotify playlist as I was going over the Cardiff Bay barrage and the sun was coming up. Such a simple commute that I do every day, elevated to ethereal heights with this song. It really blew me away
Not joking, but I remember the exact moment when I heard this album, it blew my mind. I knew nothing about TWOD, but so grateful for the introduction. On a date, in a foreign country, couldn't stop listening to it for three weeks. Turned out TWOD was playing the night I flew back to the US, right at home in DC. Only concert I went to by myself, got off the plane, took a shower, grabbed my camera and heading to the 9:30 Club. Priceless!
First time I heard this song was Jan 2021, I was driving from Austin to Dallas. This song, to this moment brings me warm and beautiful memories of our time together. I will always have this song and her memory closest to my heart!
This songs is keeping the Voices quiet and makes my PSTD go into into remission. I also am a aelf harmer and the music takes the bad thoughts and feelings away long enough to do some Exercises to get back to hear and now. THANK YOU SO MUCH.!! This goes to the Band and all the workers that help! You Live are Godlike, me and my BFF just LOVE YOUR MUSIC. We use it to calm down our mental states and both have jobs! Your Music was a Huge part. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! You Music is unlike anything else and helps people! 😂❤🎉😊
Every single member of this band plays a crucial role in their success..love the addition of Eliza Hardy Jones...,but make no mistake, without Adam Granduciel, there is no War On Drugs!! He is a freakin genius at mixing and layering all of these extremely talented musicians into being the best band this side of E Street!!
A very pedestrian version, and still amazing. UA-cam is full of live versions of this song and all are mind blowing. I soooooo need to see... no .. experience them play this live.
Really doesn't hurt to come back again and again to this performance here! I know of no other band more genuinely and purely committed to their music and just their music than The War On Drugs. New album is stellar as well.
This band is going to have a great future. Their last two albums are pure musical gems. Melody, lyrics, instrument playing prowess, you name it! They have it all (in loads to spare)!!!
I was channel surfing late one evening just before heading to bed and ran into this performance and couldn't change the channel or turn off the tv. Spellbinding.
I first heard this in a cafe and it stuck in my head for ages. Then one day, I was in my friend’s car and the album was playing and I asked her who the band was. I got the album and since then I’ve been hooked. Can’t tell you how many times I have played this album. But this track in particular just takes me somewhere magical far away from this world. It gives me chills.
I've seen this band live and nobody plays lead guitar and sings like Adam. Hell nobody hardly plays lead and sings anymore. I was in heaven at their show!
While the crowd entered the building and saw the coffin of my dead brother they heard this song. This moment was so intens that everyone got totaly overwelmed. This was the most powerful music i had ever heard. This was 2 weeks ago.
This has to be my favourite song of all time. I love this band so much and pain from there new album has to be a close second but this live version is perfection. The guitar solo at the end is in so good. It chills me out, who needs therapy when you have war on drugs
Next to the last song at Columbus OH and we were pulsing and rocking and there were jarheads of all shapes & sizes and demographics jamming to one of the best LIVE bands we've seen in a long time ((despite the crappy concrete venue we got primo balcony awesome barstool select seating and RAwKED)....hope Massey Hall following night was memorable, see you in L'ville in December & if any! wants ro GoFundMe in Brisbane just Holler
I hear some great influences in Adam Granduciel's music, and its easy to hear Dylan in his voice... but I'm reminded of Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street & Right Down the Line when I listen to this great tune...
Every time I watch this video, I have to replay the lick at 2:26 a few times. This band is a modern classic already and I can't wait for the new album! Next week!
+mazrio128 the drummer really has some great dynamics here! The whole band just seems to complement each other with their sound. I've just started listening to them more and having known this track and then recently listening to Lost In a Dream...the band is really starting to grow on me, they have a great sound and "sonic perfection" as you put it. Rock on!
One of those bands that won’t get the recognition that they deserve. They still have a devoted following, could possibly become the new Phish or GD. ✌️😎
Currently America's outstanding band, live, reminds me of Dylan on the Hwy 61 tour, only better guitar, sorry Robbie and Michael, I was there, these guys are tight!! Yes I am in my '70's !! Adam is tops!
Respect for your musical experience sir! TWOD are operating at a level few of their peers can even understand let alone emulate. Btw i'm a 63 yr old Brit... seen some of the best too. Love these cats!
first see of Austin playback....instant reaction? love the crowd so open and truly into music in a deeper backdrop....... I think maybe peel may have first introduced or maybe bbc introducing first heard of Austin Texas. Texas looks like a place I could wanna be. Feeling the south much more than television will have you believe .. by a absolute margin.... home cocking with sumut to work for , bloody love it. Always new deep down America is on top even through the development of modern Britain. Amazballs thou luv 4 all Brits out there mind.

This song is like being in the eye of a hurricane

@Rigma Roll You got this! Time will heal
You're not the only one.
You’re not alone.

...the first time i heard under the pressure i was riding on my moto bike through the Karoo desert in South Africa, this song takes you to another place , especially at the 4min breakaway , sax & drums , BRAVO to these guys & thank you
Perfectly stated.
Brilliant, old-fashioned, straight ahead rock, no nonsense. Bravo, gentlemen.
Somehow still managed to blend New Wave, Shoegaze, and Americana genres together. Honestly incredible

Is that the same thing as Nazi Rock?

now that is a great morning 🌄..peace brother
i don't think of any other band around right now with such a good ethereal work. And they're brilliant live too.

930 Club......fondest memories. that is dc's emblematic concert venue

It's about time! this is a kick ass band. got a Grammy. the rest is history.
Love love The War on Drugs,,the last of the indie rock/folk bands of the USA
Well the come down here was easy...like the arrival of a new day.... ❤
Every band should have a baritone sax. It should be mandatory.
Agreed!
Meraviglioso grazie
Morphine
maybe.. but then what? some group will swap the sax for perhaps an oboe, and so on...when will it ever end? Contra bassoon? lol :)
Reminds me of a time in my life I didn't even realize I missed.
Everybody hears Dylan, but I hear Mike Scott from The Waterboys. Such a good song.
A very pedestrian version, and still amazing. UA-cam is full of live versions of this song and all are mind blowing. I soooooo need to see... no .. experience them play this live.

love his guitar work
it's very understated. he's not the fastest. he's not the flashiest. he's sort of like gilmour, he has an amazing sound.
How can anyone give this brilliant music a thumbs down, beyond me.
This is perfect beyond words... this is such a tight band
This band kills. Love ❤ Adam. One of my very fav guitarist/songwriters .
This type of music makes all my problem go away. Even if just for a moment.
I've seen this band live and nobody plays lead guitar and sings like Adam. Hell nobody hardly plays lead and sings anymore. I was in heaven at their show!
Man, I'd love to see these guys!
Would love to experience their concert
Don Henley
Saw them in Nashville last night, but I still can’t get enough. On point is an understatement.
That guitar rift starting at 3:07 was so beautiful, that I literally had tears in my eyes!
Fantastic. Some of the last sparks of light squeezing out from the darkness that music is today.
Damn, that’s a great live recording. Amazing tune.
A world class performance and one of the best songs of the past decade.
You think you've heard it all...and then these guys come along..just love it.
Excellent harmony, brilliant strong rhythim.
Brilliant..! The bariton sax is epic! The drums so steady and funny! And the solo’s of Adam ... what can I say..? Genius!

Love WOD. Love ATX. Love this song...especially from 3:30 - 4:45!
Esta banda se transporto de los años 80 haciael futuro que clase, remember a Dire Straits.
So he has a Matchless, a Vox, a Fender, and a friggin Hiwatt? Must be nice!
I love this song! The live version is the best!
Pure enjoyment! Just shut my eyes and I was riding off into another world.

Can you guys please turn up the sound a bit on your videos? I'm always at 100 on my volume and it's hardly loud enough. Other than that, awesome.
you may
The vid itself has a horizontal volume adjust, and yer computr also has one.
There are 2 volume controls on Hewett Packard computers.
I like si much this Dong, one ofbthe BEST songs if
The movement the drummer makes after he starts the pattern at 0:53 shows how enjoyable and progressive is for the band members the song. Love
Can't wait to see these guys in Milwaukee this summer! 💜 The War on Drugs!
Great Music !
