One of the greatest songs ever written. At a time where music is made for the masses, written by old men, sung by actors, The war on drugs is an absolute diamond in the rough.
There's a limitless wealth of amazing music these days, you just have to dig a little deeper. The "music that is made for the masses" probably represents like 10% of current music, it's just in our face so much that we think it's all there is.
how come the "music for the masses" in the previous decades was amazing and the somewhat obscure was amazing too. This generation sucks with music. You have to admit that the only way to be popular today is to be good looking. Talent is secondary.
I remember cycling to work at sunrise across the Cardiff Bay Barrage. The sky was shot pink, I had the whole run to myself and this hit me like a tidal wave in a random Spotify playlist. Never forgot that moment. This song lives in my head forever
I listened to it probably 20 times in a row, then learned it on guitar, saw them do it live in Portland (to perfection) and was blown away. Charlie and Dave were in fine form heck, they all were. Hung out with them after the gig, and they are a fine bunch of fellows! Fortunate to have had that experience. Go see them live, you will not be disappointed!
I lost my sister as well 8 years ago. My life was/is forever altered. I'll miss my sister until the day I die, cuz it was supposed to be us two in the end when everyone else was gone:-(
Here in Nov 2024. This time, tears. When I found this song, I was under pressure in bad times. Now I'm back, and the tears are happy tears because it is good times where I am now. The Only Way Forward is a *principle centered life.* It almost always works out if all your decisions are made based on sound, time- honored principles. Not on the zeitgeist, not on culture, not on fads, and certainly not on anything that women say or do.
This brilliant track is literally aural peyote. It's riveting, soul stirring. They didnt just catch a wave with this one, they became the wave. Well done guys. It conjures up so much energy and emotion and takes you on a journey that you never want to end. What a ride.
Think I was searching for queen about a year ago "Under Pressure" so there's me intoxicated and depressed once again, think I clicked on this by accident. Listened to it all the way through, and then again, and again and again, started looking up there music. Found a comment on here about how it stopped a guys depression and stopped him wanting to give up. Never looked back from there on in. On hearing this in that very moment! My life just changed. I cried my eyes out realised changes needed to be made and cracked on with it. The War On Drugs what a band! Helped me massively reading that guys comment that night after hearing this. He said he heard it got into the band and all there music and it helped him and Boy it really helped me if they ever play in the UK I will be there.
And out of pure accident I looked away from my screen while scrolling, looked back and set eyes on this comment... Love it!!!" maybe we might walk past each other at that gig and never know it... and more important, the person who was born again might even be there!
They're touring Europe in 2022. Hope you make it there. Also, check out their new song called 'I dont live here anymore' which they just released today. Oh and the new album comes out this October!
Still my favorite to start a workout. Plus remember the good days ofu life. With great friends and family and those I loved or love to this day..thank you all for your service to your country or just your way of living each day of your life...time to start looking forward to a new year and many new beginnings for so many. They say look in past to much you might get more educated by the mega seconds. Beat my dad thought that when he put that first dial up phone in Arkansas 63 agossss. Glad blessed I had honors to walk somewhat in his big boots..
There is an inherent beauty to psychedelic music, helping find colors, shapes, and angles in the world that might be so readily apparent in an everyday setting. Great song.
This is just straight up rock and roll music, it's even pretty simple and uses a very familiar song structure. It just happens to be nice and sounds good and has a good feel to it. Great song , but nothing even close to 'psychedelic' - people are so easily moved by colors and video
It is an amazing album. I know their next album won the Grammy, but I really think it was to make up for not awarding "best album" to Lost in the Dream.
I'm a ups driver and heard this song for for first time 2 years ago while I delivering packages during peak season (December) it touched my soul and I've followed this band since
That's so funny. I drive semI trucks for UPS. I first heard this song about 2 years ago driving through the Irish countryside at sunrise. It blew me away. One of my favourite driving tunes ever 🎉🎉🎉
My brother introduced me to this masterpiece just before we fell out. We are both so stubborn we still aren’t talking but listening to this makes me want to ring him and put my ego to one side.

Never forget the first time I heard this. My Dad found it and just told me to listen to the whole song while we watched the sun rise in the mountains in Breckenridge 4 years ago. One of the best 8 minute intervals of my life.
Heard it once before before going on stage with a local band I used to play with (I was the drummer). Had this blasting yesterday also in Dublin before going to see kings of Leon. To my surprise they were actually on the bill and they did not disappoint. If you can see this band live, do it.
This song really is an absolute great way for me to get my brain to unwind and slow down ... What a great song in general i could hit repeat over and over
i heard this song about 9999 times and never realized that its for 9 fkng minutes! thats so long and didnt noticed, that really means that is such music good. (And im high as fuck)
I've only just discovered this phenomenal band. It's like finding a priceless hidden treasure! I fell in love with 'Under The Pressure' within seconds of hearing it. What a tuuuuune!!! ❤
My new favorite song :) Listening to this at work helps me get in a zone, concentrate and jam out, all at the same time. And yes, here's to happiness and love! Let's all be kind to one another and remember that we all see life from a different perspective; give each other a break. Here's to love and kindness and jamming out to awesome music :)
I wish I could listen to music at work. I seriously hate my job not because of the work but because it gives me no stimulation. It’s the same thing for 8 hours and I want out.
Idk about listening to this at work - I'm just doing so and I can't help "drumming" with my feet and I can't focus on work, I'm paying too much attention to the music. :D But if it works for you, that's great! Great song, or band.
@@MnemonicHeadTrip Wow, seeing your subscriptions is like seeing my own. :D And man, that's unfortunate. Have you thought about doing something in IT? Considering your interests, that might be something fitting, and you can probably listen to music at work then.^^
Ha. You just reminded me; need to listen to this right now. I can't focus on work either. Work shmerk. We can jam out together from afar. Short day, long weekend, woo hoo! Happy 4th!! 🎆
Dear The War on Drugs, i'm from Mexico and this song it's my favorite the all life, i ear when i feel sad, happy or pensative, i discovered it since 2018 and until today it's still my favorite, you are very talented, guys, i hope ear this song in live some day.
Damn... thank you Netflix for giving Bojack Horseman the opportunity to be one of the best (if not the best) series i've ever watched... it earned that title because of the feeling you get after watching every single episode and season plus having such an awesome soundtrack for those moments when you're just wondering if you're not a "Bojack" yourself...
I saw this band last Saturday supporting the Stones in Hyde Park! I didn’t really know anything about them! I thought they were awesome! Truly beautiful, haunting, uplifting music!!!
@travisjohnson62 nostalgic soothings were all clinging on ... Waking up from a nightmare was always a relief,, nowadays I'm not so sure. But these toons are tonic for the soul.... Don Henley 😂
The first time I heard this was at the gym I was working at in the winter 2014, shortly after a bad breakup. The outro caught my attention, so I quickly asked google what track it was and downloaded it. One of the most beautiful discoveries I made, especially considering the rough depression I was experiencing. I soon saw this video one morning on TV before going to work. This song always made me feel so good, almost like it reminded me everything was gonna get better. It really took my mind of self destructive behaviors and suicidal thoughts. It motivated me to do better for myself because I deserved it. Years later (2018) I found out that this whole album was one absolute masterpiece. I'm actually sad I missed out on the other songs during 2014-2015, the healing process would have been better. Cheers to The War On Drugs.
Helped me during my depression too. Heck I even had the album cover art as my whatsapp dp for months. That image picturized exactly how I felt. Definitely one of the best albums and band I've heard till date.
I used to listen to the radio on my cellphone coming back from university, at a very hard time in my life, bearing up with the burdens of self acceptance. One day looking at dusk riding on the bus they played this song and it was utter bliss for me that I didn't bother to know the artist nor the name. Days went by and I couldn't stop thinking about this track, I used to tune into the radio at the same time, staring at the sunset, almost everyday for a month, until one day it came back to me. Made me realize of my perseverance, my nerve to find something that it was missing for me. Now I've come far ways from the place I was, I love and accept myself more and more everyday.
I'm an old dude, and for decades, my favorite albums were from the 70s and 80s. If you told me back in 2017, that my favorite album ever, was coming out that year, i would have said no way. A deeper understanding moves me in ways i cant describe. Their newer album is pretty damn close too
You know, every now and a band comes along that leaves me speechless,I say to myself how is it that I have not heard of these guys? your music is so good so beautiful and poignant, sending me straight into self reflection in a dreamy state filling me with bittersweet nostalgia and inner peace! you guys are fantastic!!!!
Lying on my back Loosening my grip Wading in the water Just trying not to crack UNDER THE PRESSURE! WOOO! That crescendo hits me with a range of feelings every single time. Beautiful song.
I just saw your concert in Lisbon, and it was the best one ever!!! I sang, screamed, danced, and had goosebumps...your songs give so many emotions... 1 hour is not enough! We want more! Please come back SOON! I want to hear more, specially Holding On. Xoxo

This is the first song I heard from TWOD a few years ago. Saw them in concert last night. Wow what a show it was. Blew me away! They give 200% to every song they performed!!!
Spring 2020 and I had just moved to a resort town in thw mountains of Colorado. My job was great, I had my own place and enjoying my new life. Then Covid hit. Being I lived on the mountain and in a neighborhood of vacation rentals I was isolated and alone. All the tourists went home and suddenly I was by myself and had no idea how Covid was going to turn out. I was stuck in my house, couldn't go to work, and surrounded by silencew that was unnerving to say the least. I was just surfing around UA-cam when I stumbled across TWOD. One song was all it took and I was hooked!! I listened to every song of theirs I could find...over and over again. Along with Future Islands and Manchester Orchestra I found solace in this music to make it through each day. Music is the ultimate cure. I finally got to see them when they came to Kansas City and listening to them live was one of the best experiences I have had.
A song which fits perfectly at night, or... One of those nights where the sky is clear and you can see all the stars and the moon. Fits great when staring at the stars and vibing/relaxing at the same time. Love it.
Bojack makes me choke up several times each season, with the dialogues and the monologues and their choice of music that is so on point it makes me question my life. Goddamn this song is amazing..
I have been really digging this song lately, it is really helping me with our family's losses and illness going on for strength. The chords and Adam's voice are so uplifting and high frequency, "War on Drugs" always managed to chill me out and their sound is like no other and I cherish them for their vibe, and one of the few bands being "true" to themselves, not all flashy-grounded..or reminds me of my first time working with a blow torch with an old boyfriend satering metal for a 1930s Hudson we were restoring with the visuals of this epicly shot video...I remember the flecks of embers in the air burning me, teaching me to learn patience, and work mindfully.
Saw this live this past summer. This song, outdoor concert on a Sunday night with not a worry in the world, just me and my girlfriend and a ton of laid back people.Hearing this song now reminds me of that night, it was truly magical.
@@rogerthat6787 the fact that it was a sunday night and the city was dead but the concert had such an alive vibe was crazy. Cant even put it into words.Bud stage in Toronto.
One of the most chill songs I have ever heard. A late night driving song that you can get lost in. I have been listening to it over and over. It feels deep and nostalgic. A modern day Pink Floyd in my opinion.
Oh man, you were so lucky to be there in person. I just discovered this band due to the video of them at Glastonbury live. They totally rocked it and Under the Pressure looked like ecstasy!
I was doing a job at a guys house in Walthamstow a couple of years back and talking about music, he told me about these guys Listened to them since. One of the things I love about meeting new people is things we have in common and sharing information on those things.

Well, the comedown here was easy
Like the arrival of a new day
But a dream like this gets wasted
Without you
[Chorus]
Under the pressure
Is where we are
Under the pressure
Yeah, it's where we are, babe
[Post-Chorus]
Oh, you're the only one
Like an illusion
[Verse 2]
When it all breaks down and we're runaways
Standin' in the wake of our pain
And we stare straight into nothin'
But we call it all the same
You were raised on a promise
Found that over time
Better come around to the new way
Or watch as it all breaks down here
[Chorus]
Under the pressure
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 3]
Well, the break down here
Stole it all the way across
I wanna climb downhill
Stranded on
When you come here and I'm wasted
Lyin' on a field, dancin' in the rain
Hidin' in the back, loosenin' my grip
Wadin' in the water, just tryin' not to crack
[Chorus]
Under the pressure
Yeah, it's where we are, babe
Under the pressure
Woo!
♥️👏🏻
Thanks for that
love it when somebody puts up the words ..peace out from Australia
I always thought he says I love you instead of without you
Thank you for posting the lyrics 🙂
One of the greatest songs ever written. At a time where music is made for the masses, written by old men, sung by actors, The war on drugs is an absolute diamond in the rough.
There's a limitless wealth of amazing music these days, you just have to dig a little deeper. The "music that is made for the masses" probably represents like 10% of current music, it's just in our face so much that we think it's all there is.
Yes this band is amazing! I saw them last year and must say it's one of the best concerts i've ever been to.
I'd say they're pretty polished actually, cool band anyways:)
Music for the masses must be resisted. Stay strong. They can't break us.
how come the "music for the masses" in the previous decades was amazing and the somewhat obscure was amazing too.
Transcending... It is really a lovely and very engaging tune. I was just introduced yesterday and I have been looping since.
Am I the only one that played this song 15 times in a row?
Nope 🙂
no
Yes, 6 times out of
Nope. It's compelling and a bit addictive.
The timing, the clarity, the movement of this song. Damn stunning.
My sister 's favorite song, i send you it to heaven my sister and soulmate...miss you
Hugs lovely... x
Lovely thought...consider the gift received....;) *hug*

🇮🇪💚
Propably the best song of the last two decades.
I couldn't agree with you more
It really is,put this on Your list of Greatest of ever.
It is.
@@markdigital9350 Thanks that means a lot
Tickets to their 2022 tour go on sale soon, theres a few UK dates in there :)
This song gave you a rebirth
They're touring Europe in 2022. Hope you make it there. Also, check out their new song called 'I dont live here anymore' which they just released today. Oh and the new album comes out this October!
Still my favorite to start a workout. Plus remember the good days ofu life.
With great friends and family and those I loved or love to this day..thank you all for your service to your country or just your way of living each day of your life...time to start looking forward to a new year and many new beginnings for so many. They say look in past to much you might get more educated by the mega seconds.

Glad blessed I had honors to walk somewhat in his big boots..
It's hard to find words to describe how warm, beautiful and hypnotic this song is. I'm so glad I found this.
me too
There is an inherent beauty to psychedelic music, helping find colors, shapes, and angles in the world that might be so readily apparent in an everyday setting. Great song.
This isn't psychedelic.
Whitewoods - beachwalk
@@UnitSe7en slippery slope :P
Yeah not psychedelic. Seems kinda old school New Wave to me.
This is just straight up rock and roll music, it's even pretty simple and uses a very familiar song structure.
It just happens to be nice and sounds good and has a good feel to it. Great song , but nothing even close to 'psychedelic' - people are so easily moved by colors and video
This is a perfect album. The writing, playing, arrangements, production, mixing....all of it's just perfect.
It is an amazing album. I know their next album won the Grammy, but I really think it was to make up for not awarding "best album" to Lost in the Dream.
Im here every day to start my day, Thank you TWOD
I'm a ups driver and heard this song for for first time 2 years ago while I delivering packages during peak season (December) it touched my soul and I've followed this band since
Welcome my son. Nothing better than following Orion at sunset to this song with all extra drive time
That's so funny. I drive semI trucks for UPS. I first heard this song about 2 years ago driving through the Irish countryside at sunrise. It blew me away. One of my favourite driving tunes ever 🎉🎉🎉
This is one of the best songs of the last 20 years. Art, a sensation for your ears!
Art is long, life is short and this is great art. A masterpiece.
This music floats like a silk cloth over the hustle and bustle of a big city. Finding its climax in the setting sun behind the skyscrapers. Epic.
Une magnifique chanson à écouter en roulant la nuit , des rêves pleins la tête et avec un sentiment de plénitude... Le bonheur quoi !!❤️❤️🌌🌌🌌
C est toi ?
My brother introduced me to this masterpiece just before we fell out. We are both so stubborn we still aren’t talking but listening to this makes me want to ring him and put my ego to one side.
yo ring your brother a hole `LIFE is short man `i crashed my car a week ago and im still here saw your coment had to tell you to sort your shit out `im not gonna let small shit fuck with my head anymore` ive never been happy with my life but im thinking hard about shit now `from NZ
You know I think I should get ahold of my brother myself I hope all is well with you Peace Love and Happiness 💜🌻💚
I spoke to him a week ago and managed to get it all out on the table and now feel like our relationship is stronger than it was before. ✌️❤
Never forget the first time I heard this. My Dad found it and just told me to listen to the whole song while we watched the sun rise in the mountains in Breckenridge 4 years ago. One of the best 8 minute intervals of my life.
you likely will never forget that moment. it's called GREAT music!! stay safe out here in 2020...
Is that brackenridge Queensland
Great Band....... I'm new to them the past 12months.....promote... promote... promote..👌
Love you folk that get it , peace!
Heard it once before before going on stage with a local band I used to play with (I was the drummer). Had this blasting yesterday also in Dublin before going to see kings of Leon. To my surprise they were actually on the bill and they did not disappoint. If you can see this band live, do it.
Those opening notes, there's just so much in them. Depression, uncertainty, doubt, dread, fear, regret, and quiet desperation.
See it or Flick it. I hear you man, that is spot on. Amazing lyrics, instantly grabs you.
This song really is an absolute great way for me to get my brain to unwind and slow down ... What a great song in general i could hit repeat over and over
The song that can make me stop having a bad day for nine minutes.
i heard this song about 9999 times and never realized that its for 9 fkng minutes! thats so long and didnt noticed, that really means that is such music good. (And im high as fuck)

Te reconcilia con el mundo
For me 8 minutes and 57 seconds....
Underrated comment.
I've only just discovered this phenomenal band. It's like finding a priceless hidden treasure! I fell in love with 'Under The Pressure' within seconds of hearing it. What a tuuuuune!!! ❤
This song deserves a billion views.
Aye.and then some.
This def my fav song by them…it’s next level
My new favorite song :) Listening to this at work helps me get in a zone, concentrate and jam out, all at the same time. And yes, here's to happiness and love! Let's all be kind to one another and remember that we all see life from a different perspective; give each other a break. Here's to love and kindness and jamming out to awesome music :)
Que tal
I wish I could listen to music at work. I seriously hate my job not because of the work but because it gives me no stimulation. It’s the same thing for 8 hours and I want out.
Idk about listening to this at work - I'm just doing so and I can't help "drumming" with my feet and I can't focus on work, I'm paying too much attention to the music. :D
But if it works for you, that's great! Great song, or band.
@@MnemonicHeadTrip Wow, seeing your subscriptions is like seeing my own. :D
And man, that's unfortunate.
I’ve seen Bojack Horseman in its entirety but don’t remember this song being used… What scene was it used in?

I saw this band last Saturday supporting the Stones in Hyde Park!
I didn’t really know anything about them!
I thought they were awesome!
Truly beautiful, haunting, uplifting music!!!
Once every 10 years a song like this comes along
Yes sir.auesome song.

Took me 19 years to discover this band 🙈 must have been living under a stone 😂😂 but its never too late to enjoy beatifull music thanks TWAD ❤ ❤❤❤
These guys are the Dire Straits of the 21st century and this is their Sultans of Swing.
LOL I always thought "If Don Henley was born an older millennial"
@travisjohnson62 nostalgic soothings were all clinging on ...
Waking up from a nightmare was always a relief,, nowadays I'm not so sure.
But these toons are tonic for the soul.... Don Henley 😂
Except this is an excellent band and this is an excellent song. Otherwise ... sure.
@@dashx1103 Imagine trying to argue that Sultans of Swing is not a good song
@@system2213 I didn’t say “not good.” It just doesn’t compare to Under the Pressure. Sultans of Swing is a perfectly fine little pop song.
Few are the songs I fall in love with ‘first listen’. Thanks a bunch to The War on Drugs. ‘Awesome! 👍🏻
I hope you guys are better now.
this song and the human spirit go great together
😍
Thanks for sharing your beautiful experience , #Jorge Romero.
Have a blessed life ~.🌹.~

I listen to that part over and over.
Sometimes UA-cam actually recommends something I haven't heard before and now like. This is a great tune.
Lying on my back
Loosening my grip
Wading in the water
Just trying not to crack
UNDER THE PRESSURE!
WOOO!
That crescendo hits me with a range of feelings every single time. Beautiful song.
No. Those are not the lyrics. It's "crying in my bed, loosening my grip, fading in the world, just trying not to crack ... under the pressure."
What a fantastic song. I keep reading from older folks like myself that where is the good music of the past. Right here in front of your ears.
Remember the local indie radio station played this years ago been in love with them since
My aunts dementia Is getting progressively worse along with other family members health. This song has been a comforting piece lately. Thank you.

I swear I feel like I've been transported back to early 80's England, and i'm loving every minute. This is divine.

I LOVE BOJACK HORSEMAN.
