Cute slow-stitched mini sewing kit with repurposed fabrics

- A quick, easy and useful little project, putting my own spin on a tutorial from @bookhoudesign .
I really enjoyed making this sweet mini caddy, ideal for carrying small items you might need to keep in your bag - sewing kit, tablets, plasters and so on, you could even add a keyring!
I used rescued Indian fabrics from @bazaar2915, plus some bits from my recycling bag :)

I'm so excited to see this! My mom just gave me an heirloom sewing roll - based on the fabric and whose initials are embroidered on it, we think it was from the Victorian era. I immediately wanted to make my own, so I saw this video at the perfect time!
Oooh what a lovely heirloom to have! That kind of thing gives me goose pimples. Have fun making your own, and just think - one day, someone may be passing on the one you make as an heirloom in the future :)

Thanks so much Giusi 😊 yes me too, now I'm thinking of using different sizes of tubes to make little rolls for different purposes - maybe I will wish I hadn't thrown all those tubes away! :D
These are sweet. Remember making something similar years ago out of felt. The ends had 2 circles of felt with card in between. It was wide enough to hold 2 sylko bobbins, needles, pins, safety pins etc.
This one is like a mini hussif! ❤
Thank you Annie for your video. This is really cute. I had a little container like this year's ago and you put your lipstick in it,there was a tiny mirror in the lid it was basically fabric covered cardboard and was more a novelty ,this is more useful and much prettier. When I was young your stockings had suspenders and one of the little holders was replaced with a sixpence to get you home 😂 I hand stitched a zip in last month following a project in the amazing Jennifer Clouston on her UA-cam channel and it certainly got rid of all my fears. Hand stitch for me will always be the way to go now. See you soon in your craft room.

So pretty! Instead of bottle caps or a spool, you could wind thread on sewing machine bobbins.😊

@@artyfartyannie no had to look up, we do have sausage rolls though mind some people are putting cheese in these yucky cheese sausage rolls. Hang on we do have mini sushi rolls! lol yep these are yum.

Just after watching this, I walked into the kitchen and sitting on the windowsill was a small empty pill bottle. Mmmmmm, I wonder if sewing machine bobbins would fit in there, and they do. So I can make one of these using the pill bottle, covered with material, and put a selection of threads inside. Sometimes I surprise myself with my good ideas.

Hi Annie, I do so enjoy all of your videos. I loved your stitching in this one. Can I ask what needle you used, it looked like it was long and fine. I always struggle to find the right needle for the job. Many thanks for making these well appreciated videos for us all, Diane xxx
Hi Diane - I think the longer needle was a sashiko one, I love those. My other favourite type is chenille needles, because they're sharp with a large eye. Milliners needles are also handy, they're long and thin but with a smaller eye. Hope that helps xo

I made that one with a piece of kawandi quilting, because I was trying to find good uses for all my kawandi work, but you can make them with whatever fabrics or quilted pieces you like. Hi Ruth, Bea doesn't have a website, she put the bundles of fabrics up in the Makers Market in our Discord - I see you've joined now, so you could either check out the makers market or message her directly. she only sends to UK, due to postage costs. She said in the beginning that she would have a constant supply of scraps due to her job making custom designer curtains and that she could put together bundles according to what people want, so I would suggest messaging her in Discord. If you're not sure how to do that, give a shout in the General Chat or Tech Support and someone will always help you out :)
