I think it helps to understand what most people misidentify as love, too. Love is not merely infatuation, chemistry, attachment, fondness, attraction, or dependency. It’s more about what you give and put up with, than what you require from others.

Wow, this just hit different when you said God's love is a sacrificial love. When you said that I realized that Him dying on the cross has a much deeper meaning than I realize. He didn't just sacrifice Himself to give us a path to reconciliation with Him, but the act itself was reconciliation with us. I'll probably catch flak for this, but think about it. I've always thought "why did God need to provide us a sacrifice for the laws He created." It's not unlike a spouse taking responsibility for creating a rift in their relationship.
As soon as he began explaining sacrifice I understood that I must be willing to give up the world and all that I love about it in order to love the Lord.
It also means that you feel the pain it brought to the other, conviction and wants it to be restored and grow together in unity. Jesus Christ even carried our pain, our punishment for sins our wrongs to reconcile us back to the Father and selfishly loves us passionately. He never comes to condemn but to save, restore and reforms. When there is still time left. Jesus Christ is coming soon!

I am never going to be Jesus so I can’t play God like that but i strive to be Christ-like in my marriage. My unequally yoked marriage means i have to stand firm with God. So after he cheated and finally was able to let his mistress go, I initiated all the steps required for healing. I kept being the initiator and it’s been 5 years of trying to heal and move past anger and resentment. I still can’t move on. Does this mean it’s ok to end things here? My husband kept saying he loves me and still wants the marriage but there has never been initiation towards healing. I don’t think God wants me to suffer like this too..
What is it you want him to do? I know God hates divorce and I would do whatever possible to not let go of my husband. I would do my part in being a loving faithful spouse and if he is going to turn away on his own accord then so be it. God is faithful and I believe ultimately you will be blessed for doing your part regardless of your spouse and what he does.
You say you can’t play God but that’s exactly what you are doing. What do you think anger and resentment are? Judgment. Playing God separates you from God, your only help in this entire world. This makes you no better than your cheating husband. Drop he anger. Only then will you see the healing come about. Regarding suffering and marriage. Marriage is not for things to get easier, rather harder. Means more suffering. Suffering is the only way we can grow into becoming the men or women that God created us to be. No suffering = no growth
@@freshliving4199 Dropping the anger is what I have been trying to do through prayer and the the Word. It’s not as easy as turning off a light switch. I realized I can’t control the situation. If my husband isn’t prioritizing the work required for healing of the marriage, I think God wants me to go now. I am trying to heal but I get triggers and despite expressing it, my husband doesn’t seem to hear it. It made me so mad and resentful. Maybe it’s not time for God to soften his heart yet. I have a hard time focusing because I have become obsessed with fixing it for too long. Since there’s no children involved, perhaps the best thing to do is to have self-respect and dignity in this, and move on from the marriage. I think that’s how I can heal better. I have done all I know I can do except to continue to keep improving self. With my triggers, i can’t heal while getting taunted over and over. Unless God decides to be involved in a supernatural or divine intervention way. I think I gotta divorce my husband now. I can’t things like this anymore. Maybe this is how I let go and let God.

I think I am ready to divorce him. I was holding myself captive because of the word of God about divorce as well. But I know that He knows the situation and me best. And it was also written that except for when your spouse has been unfaithful, you can leave. But if the spouse that left came back, take him back because he may have the opportunity to be saved as a non-believer. I feel like i have obeyed and did all that i can in my human power. It is up to God now, through all these years of prayers, I finally feel like I can leave. He hate divorce, not us. He hates sin. And the while it says divorcing your spouse is adultery, it was to emphasize how important love and forgiveness and sacrifice is. Not true. I've given sacrificial love many times, and I was left with nothing. I now believe love should be balanced. I make sure my needs are being met now, while still being a loving, selfless person.
Sacrificial love is not give to get, if that so everyone would be a Christian now, because God gave and people still rejects him. Wisdom is a whole other thing, wisdom is apply what you know and have learned, like if I keep petting a dog and it keep biting me, I’ll still feed it but keep my distance from it, if the dog change then good but if not I’ll still love it but in a wise way.
