On a side note, I get a lot of messages from people asking about how I can afford to buy all these headphones and have time to make all these videos so I wanted to share the answer here. It basically is the result of learning how to effectively do drop shipping (basically buying and selling products for a profit) and setting up your own online ecommerce store. I stumbled and fumbled around with this process for a quite a while before finally becoming successful as a result of finally having a simple to follow course. I wrote a review about the course I used if you're interested: reviewsbylance.com/dropship-li...
And then I also wrote a review about the wholesale directory I use to find all these great wholesale suppliers: reviewsbylance.com/wholesale-s...
Or you can watch the Salehoo review I did to get a behind the scenes look • Video
Then if you have additional questions you can just post those in the comment section and I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. Hope that helps :)

Hey, thanks a lot for the review! I am considering buying the M50x to retire my Astro A50 (gaming). I am worried that the bass on these won't be enough for me. Is there a way to read and compare the frequency response of both headphones to find how the bass of the M50 compares? I am a total audio noob :((( Thanks for your time, mate

I bought the limited edition dark green version of these as my first expensive headphones at $180 (the most I'd spent before was $50) and I wasn't disappointed. I really appreciate listening to my music in terms of focusing on every instrument, note or vocal. These let you do that. I've also used them for movies and they're very accurate and provide an authentic movie experience. As he said, these really do everything well. The high ratings are well deserved here. You just can't go wrong with these. If you're coming from beats or another brand that artificially pumps up certain aspects of the sound, they may sound plain at first bit once you adjust your ears, you'll appreciate that you're now hearing music as it was intended to sound. I'd easily recommend them to anyone.

Just picked these up as my first real set of headphones. I got the blue version for around $190. So comfortable. I wear them all day at work and at home. Everything from digital to vinyl sounds amazing on these I actually like the *slight boost in bass and mid tones because it balances out some bad EQ settings I come across.
Can't thank you enough for the quality of each and every one of your reviews.

Big audiophile fan here. In the market for a new pair of cans after my WESC Rza Street Chambers just died out on me. They were the best pair (and rather unspoken) of phones I've had, but I'm ready for an upgrade. I know the reputation of the M50X, so watched some reviews and was a bit on the fence, then came across yours. You sold me. Excellent job. Looking forward to listening to all genres, and creating my ambient music with these cans. You have yourself a new sub here.

Although my own M50x are already on their way, I still love watching reviews about them on UA-cam and I have to say.. your review was clearly among the best.
You make a really good reviewer - keep at it!

I gotta say that the first two weeks of owning this headphones was a hell of wearing, within first 10 - 15 minutes of wearing the I had to find another position on my head to easy the headband pressure which gave me headaches. I have normal sized had, little bit bigger maybe but it was bugging me so much I wanted to return them. I tried to stretch the headband then fold it, even considered to put another cushion under the headband. Now i finally figured out the way to put them on. Press the ear-cups toward my ear and let rest the headband so it barely touches my top head. You might think this is stupid but I finally am able to fully appreciate them. :)

A headphone amplifier is mostly needed if your headphones don’t get loud enough on your device of choice. There are a number of other reasons that can speak for a headphone amplifier. A place where this is well explained is here: nwavguy.blogspot.ch/2011/02/gain-and-headphone-ampsdacs.html

M100. It has a really fun listen, and it actually has a bass that's easily distinguishable while not overpowering anything else. I'd keep mine, but since I'm on a budget, I went for the M50x.

    • @tkvsevolod

alberto meza if you havent decided, the hope this helps. if you want more outdoors use, bass or style go with V-moda's. I have the m50's and i use them for indoors use for music and movies on my laptop. They are clear, clean and amazing, though they are big. I would go with the V-moda's if i need something that i wanted to carry around.

I got my ath m50x a couple of months after testing out once, a friend's. It was expensive (esp here because all good things get taxed to hell by our corrupt government), but not as expensive as others. I use it at work a lot when I get annoyed by the noise and just want to focus or, to destress. These headphones are PERFECT. I recommend getting a tougher case tho, esp if you plan to take this in your bag. Mine nearly got squashed when I rode our jampacked MRT here.

Nice review..I now use 2 pairs of ATHM50's, 1 pair stays hooked into my DAC/AMP on the desktop, the other for the street and portable devices, and receiver..What I appreciated about your review is that I am mostly a rock, jazz and blues listener but can understand how AT tweaked market wise on the sound for the "younger" listener....Guess I don"t have to worry for some time but I would not hesitate in getting a new pair down the road when need be.

I bought a pair of Creative WP-350s many years ago per Lance's recommendation. They were the best headphones I've ever used, sound quality was amazing. They finally broke, and I went through six other headphones looking for similar quality. Thankfully I found this channel and recognized Lance as the guy who recommended the WP-350s so long ago. I ordered the ATH-M50xBT2 and the quality is exactly what I was looking for. THANK YOU, LANCE for these reviews!

Keep up the good work. I really enjoy the content that you produce. Had a pair of HD 518s. Recently got myself an ATH M50x for listening in places where sound leakage is an issue! I primarily listen to heavy, progressive, gothic and instrumental metal coupled with some classic, punk, psychedelic and alternative rock and M50x just lends beautiful clarity to my music.

Great review! I have the M50’s. I use them with my bass guitar mostly. I have used them for TV, and music from various sources. They’re the all around best! Second are my Grado Prestige SR 80’s. 3rd, Trond wireless for TV, 4th place Beats Solo Wireless exclusively for walking the dog. These are the best for portability, automatic pairing, and external control even with thick gloves on, and phone calls. Outstanding design for convenience, if not, sonically. 5th are my poor beat up and duct taped little Koss titanium less than $20 that are used on the bed with my iPad and get constant abuse, but sound great for what they are. I paid about half of what the M50x’s cost now, and for my limited uses would not be worth the upgrade.

I thought I was previously decided on either the Philips Fidelio X1 or the DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm but after watching this review, I honestly don't know! I'll mostly be watching movies and playing games late at night at home so sound leaking isn't a big deal.

Great review! I'm looking to pair with a turntable, can you recommend an amplifier to use with these headphones that would sound good for vinyl? Very appreciated! Enjoy all your videos!

Great review! I have a pair of Klipsch M40's which sound great but feel like you have a vice on your head! When Adorama sent me an email with a flash sale of these M50x headphones for only $99, Of course I did some online research before deciding to order these. You make them sound great. If they sound as good as my M40s but are comfortable, that will be perfect.

Many thanks for this good review. I watched numerous of videos and tested in shops many headphones and finaly decided to buy those one and everything you say is100 % true. As a none professional musician I was looking for reasonable price hearcups that could reproduce as neutral as possible all the sounds and frequencies I'm using in my music and those one are doing the job so perfectly and made me rediscover all the music I like (including mine ;o) ) . For the price I bought it at 159Euros I could not find a better choice for sure.....Patroux from France

Hi, thanks for the great review on these headphones.
Currently I'm debating between the m40x and m50x, and in terms of the sound blocking/isolation, which one is better? It seems that you have given more credit to m50x on this subject.

Dude, that was a hell of a video! I'm actually debating between these, the Beyerdynamic DT-1350-80, and the Sennheiser Momentum. If you have tried all or any of these, could you help with an idea on sound quality, and comfort between the three? Options are limited on them all for what I am looking for, but the Audio Technicas only have one feature missing that I really don't care about. A phone cable. If you or anyone else could help it would be greatly appreciated! I should also mention that the primary means of use for these are in bed watching movies, light gaming and the secondary would be for travel.

      ***** Cool!
I'm new at this, so I was wondering about amps and dacs.
I want to eventually get the HD600 by Sennheiser (I love your review on that one too btw), and wanted to know if you had any recommendations about not too expensive amps and dacs that would work for both of these headphones.

I just bought these and although they sound nice and balanced, they don't quite have as much bass as I expected them to based on all the reviews I've seen (this one included). However, I did notice that if you use an equalizer, they will handle quite a bit of bass without distorting. Another thing I noticed that I found a bit annoying is that while the highs have a nice, clear sparkle, certain sounds seem to have a sort of faint hiss to them. I don't know if it's just my particular set or what but it seems to happen most often with electronic music (maybe synthesizers?) and, strangely, doesn't seem to happen at all with acoustic music.

Thanks for your video, I really love your reviews. Would you suggest them to use with a digital piano? If not, which one would you recommend? I have the HD598, but I'm not totally satisfied with them. I was considering also the AKG Q701, I heard they are very good with acoustic instruments. Thank you.

Hey there Lance! Thanks for the awesome review! I really appreciate your videos. I had a question though. Do these headphones have a tight enough grip or clamp on your head to feel like they are secure and you can move around with them? You say the M50's are a tighter feel from my understanding, but are these too loose? thats a pretty big concern for me. I definitely want them to be tight enough to have them feel like they are secure on my head. Obviously don't plan on jumping around with them but i really want the tighter feel. Thanks in advance!

I wanted to ask. I just broke my beats pro XD and I want to buy new headphone but I'm confused between ATH-M50X and sennheiser momentum. Which one should I go with?
I don't care about the price difference because what I'm looking for is sound quality :)

Hi Lance, great reviews. Have a question - I'm considering buying headphones for use in gym and during jogs primarily, tossing up between the ATH M50, M50X or the Bose SoundTrue. Which one do you recommend and why? i wear glasses and heard on your bose review that the bose were v comfortable for ppl with glasses. Thank you for your suggestion and keep up the good work.

I love the M50X I got them a few days ago to replace my klipsch mode m40 headphones and these sound quite better. I do find myself having to pull the treble down on my computer's EQ because it still seems pretty sharp on the treble. I don't listen as loud for that reason but with those tweaks these things are amazing. I just hope they don't break after less than a few years. I really want these to last but headphones usually don't last me more than 2 years even for headphones that I use just on my computer. For those who don't like the M50's comfort level but like the sound quality, rather than going and buying the m50x you can buy replacement earpads for them and make them much more comfortable. There are even certain velour earpads made for shure headphones that fit on the m50s just fine and make them much more comfortable.

Hey Lance I Love your videos I was wondering what headphones you would recommend for an everyday user that is always on the go between the Audio Technica ATH M50X Or The Bose Sound True Headphones. Which ones do you recommend are more comfortable for a long period of use & if you have other headphones in mind that are under 200 Dollars that would fit this category that would be great. Hope to hear from you soon. Keep up the great reviews.
