    I am from Mokena. My dad is close with the police chief at the time of this event. He said that after this, there was a string of cops quitting and retiring early, and some of them still have PTSD from having to see this.

    I went to high school with Keith. Never had a class with him. Never talked to him. But every time I passed him in the hallway I just got this feeling that if someone ever shot up Lincoln-Way East HS, it would be him.
    I graduated the year before he did, and never thought of him again for several months. Until the day he killed his sister. It was the first murder our town had in decades so I heard about it pretty quickly. He never shot up the school, but what he did might be even worse.
    I’ve never sensed vibes like that off of somebody before, but he just radiated a sense of evil.

    I've always wondered if it wasn't himself he was protecting her from. In his mind, he was abusing her to such a point he worried he would. A separate personality, and maybe more than that one.

      I agree exactly with that sentiment and opinion. He was probably grooming her to that point (and really thought he had a deep twisted love that would continue as they got older...and wanted to act on it) He morally knew that was wrong...didn't want to taint his "love" for her by going further and that's how he stopped it. He was too scared to commit suicide himself. I think he wanted the gun for that purpose and bc he couldn't, he chose a different victim and weapon. Bc really? who has the guts to slit their OWN throat. I think the remorse for her death can't present bc his mind is so bound in the shame of his incestuous/pedophilic thoughts that ran so deep that he is unable to share that darkest part with anyone. As a way again to keep her image clean in death. So sad and weird.

      I agreed my first thought was he was the abuser, he could not allow that to happen. He would rather kill her now than risk, his abusing in the future and having to be known as a paedophile. Post mortem shows no sexual abuse so is it just a very warped way of looking at his thoughts.

      I think he probably has an obsessive disorder. I'm good mind he really probably believed that had happened. If that's the case then he would think that stuff was happening every time it was possible, whether in reality or was it not. The reality he lived in that was what was happening. I wish they would've disclosed his diagnosis. I think this because he did want a gun to kill them and fully intended to if he'd have been able to acquire one. I also wonder if there wasn't some type of an abuse that took place that nobody but him knows about and he knows how much trauma and pain it's caused him which is why he thinks his sister is in such terrible peril. In reality the possibilities are endless and nobody will ever know the actual cause of this tragic situation.

    So heartbreaking to watch this!! That poor mother…
    Throughout watching the thing that became apparent to me is that he would’ve been 14 when his sister was born, he said she was being abused by a 14 year old family member . We’ll never know but one thing that jumps out at me is could he possibly have wanted to abuse her and that’s why he killed her? Rather be a murderer than a paedophile?

    Just a thought but just because there was no physical evidence of abuse doesn't mean that Sabrina may not have been being forced to perform sex acts on another person. Added to the fact that disturbing material was found in his room that was actually created by another family member, maybe he was trying to collect evidence. Initially I thought he was a psychopath but on reflection I'm not sure that he really did believe his own reasoning for this killing, especially as he never once denied his actions nor sought to avoid punishment. This case is definitely intriguing. RIP Sabrina.

      ...exactly. Abuse is not always visible...and what is normal? Common maybe, expected maybe, but what is normal? He clearly has issues (he did ask to be out of the cloths and yes he was eerily calm)... he said that you would understand if you grew up in his home. Abuse can desensitize. He suffered his own abuse. God bless Sabrina.

      yeah, he was telling the truth. sounds like his family situation was pretty f'd up, and whoever was hurting her was pretty sadistic and evil. that's the problem with most people, they haven't been exposed to pure evil, they don't understand. not saying he did the right thing, but i can see how desperation and his own psychological issues could lead to such a thing happening. things aren't always black and white - just because he did the act doesn't make everyone else in the picture innocent in the little girl's death.

    This is one of the weirdest, inexplicable cases you have discussed of, it's unbelievable! What if that boy was himself abused as a child and for some reason he identified with his poor little sister? I'm not a psychologist, it's just an idea that came to my mind, because his fixation with the abuse is so odd... The other scenario is that, as a psychopath, he had urges to kill and was determined to somehow justify his horrifying behaviour. In any case, his mindset must be really a mystery! Congrats for your great work, Emma ☺️

      I agree. It seems so weird to me they his mother spoke about him the way she did and the stepfather seem to speak nicer about him…obviously I understand that she probably was in shock but I read that they’ve never visited him they didn’t go to his sentencing… it just seems like in similar cases the parent react differently. But I don’t know how One would feel they’re both your children, but if one ended the life of your other child I don’t know how I would react so I guess I shouldn’t speculate.

    There’s something not right about this whole case and I really question is mental health. If he was a psychopath, chances are he wouldn’t just roll over and accept the punishment like he does. The fact he is so open and honest about the murder and his guilt and how he takes the blind plea. His story never wavers about the reason for taking his poor sisters life. Emma said it herself, I truly do believe he thinks he was saving her. So I’d be questioning his mental reasoning or I’d be looking a lot further in to abuse claims because there is something that is not adding up!

    My brother is 18 years older than me, he had his own family by the time I was 10 but even still I have so many good memories and he is an amazing brother.
    The idea that an older brother someone who for a little girl is supposed a beacon of strength, honor, and hope, could even think about doing this to his FOUR YEAR OLD BABY SISTER makes me sick.
    It is hard for me to imagine how the perpetrator could think that killing his sister is the only way to help her. There are so many other resources he could have tried to used to help her, if that is what was really going on.

    • @josephosullivan9506
      @josephosullivan9506 Рік тому

      It is possible to not forgive, but to still let go of the anger, bitterness, resentment, betrayal etc. It is pointless to forgive a psychopath /monster, they know what they are doing, have no remorse, no accountability, no compassion, no empathy. People should not feel bad if they are unable to forgive, it is a personal choice. True forgiveness is a two way street, even if the offender is genuinely sorry for what they have done, it is still up to the other person if they want to forgive them. No one should feel pressure to forgive and we can forgive monsters all we like, but if/when they get released, they will just do it all over again.

    • @Your-fave-fearie
      @Your-fave-fearie Рік тому +3

      I’m intrigued by what you think forgive means? Because forgiveness doesn’t mean that you then like the person again and are ok with them… forgiveness only means that you let go of the negative emotions that affect you. You don’t have to associate with that person again.

    • @deannacaven1447
      @deannacaven1447 Рік тому +2

      Toxic forgiveness is also called “gaslighting yourself”. It’s completely unnecessary to psych yourself out like that. The human brain is complex enough to handle resentment and love all at the same time. Hating somebody won’t prohibit you from loving and being happy simultaneously.

    I don't know why they decided that there was no abuse simply based off the fact that there was no trauma to her genitalia. It could have been that she was simply molested, or made to perform sexual acts and the perp never went past touching, if u know what I mean. I'm not saying that thats ok, or that it justifies her being murdered, I'm simply pointing out that abuse is not only abuse if the person has been penetrated. I thinl that her brother may have been the one molesting her and was afraid she might tell, or even that he was just thinking about doing something to her and decided that he couldn't resist so instead he got rid of the "temptation " so to speak. Idk, just throwing out the scenarios that came to mind whilst listening and imagining everything in my mind.

    I know lots of children who report sex abuse and get made fun of by the adults. Adults can face the ugly truth and simply pray it will go away and not disrupt their lives.

Cases involving children always hit the hardest, but this is the first one where I have fast forwarded the details of what happened to poor little Sabrina. My daughter is of a similar age and I just cannot understand how anyone could lure and kill a little girl so brutally, especially a child who trusted him to yhe the last second before he murdered her.

    He could have been the abuser. Why was he not put in charge of watching her to begin with? Maybe the parents suspected him of something? But he probably suspected that Sabrina was going to tell on him and thought he had to get rid of her before she did. My personal opinion for people who hurt defenseless children is they deserve every bad thing that could possibly happen to them. If anyone hurt my child, I would have no remorse for ending them right where I found them.

    I saw that you'd started this earlier this morning here in Australia but after hearing a bit I realised I'd have to wait till I could give it greater attention. I'm a Grandma of a 17 year old grandson and a mother of 5 adult children and I cannot begin to believe just how horrible it must have been for that poor mother coming home after just having an average ordinary outing just like millions of other parents to find out that ahe would never have again what she left a few short hours ago! My oldest is a son and my youngest is a daughter and there are 10 and a half years between apart. I HAVE had the experience of returning to my home after work as an RN to find Police in my yard talking to her father and discovering that my youngest daughter was missing and I tell you now THAT was enough. She was later found playing at a friend's! I thought paedophiles had kidnapped her from a shopping centre when she was 2 and boy was THAT also an horrendous experience but THAT was also nothing compared with what that mother endured! The death of a child is ALWAYS a tragic and extremely sad event but most deaths, even when children are very ill and die can be bought to terms through grief counselling, but I doubt that this mother has EVER reconciled her grief and her anger and the "what ifs" and that moment you first wake up and find that your worst nightmare wasn't just a dream you could wake up from! I don't think forgiveness is possible in this situation and I say this as a practising Christian, but I would NEVER forgive myself! This poor family, the brother who sees flashing lights outside and wonders what on earth is going on and I bet he too needed years of therapy to be able to forgive himself for leaving his only sister in the care of his older brother, but he was just a kid himself. I'd walk over hot coals for my kids but I don't think I'd ever speak my eldest son's name again nor think of him as a son anymore if he did what that young man did to HIS baby sister. I don't know how you can find the strength to do the work you do Emma! I couldn't wade through the excrement of these shattered lives but someone needs to. Hopefully we take this story and tonight, if we still have little ones, tuck them in a little tighter and hold and kiss them a little longer because none of us really knows if we or they are promised tomorrow! Thank you Emma because these stories are ruined and captured lives of other ordinary people just like you and me. I for one am grateful for the time which I have been blessed to have my own and that includes my grandson who is like another son to me! Your boys are very fortunate to have a loving courageous mother!

  • @sherrybagley

    I have always wondered if the alleged abuser was his 14 yr old brother. SA comes in many forms and not all of them can be found on an autopsy. The brother would be a lot harder to take down and that's why he wanted a gun to do it. It also makes sense that mom would deny it either to protect her own reputation, or because she didn't see it happening (clearly she missed that her oldest could be a killer), or to protect one of her two remaining children. We may never know and doesn't justify what he did, but I'm open to the possibility.

    Such a tragic case. The horror this poor girl suffered is unimaginable. I have seen quite a bit of the interview with Keith and although he does get agitated at times, he really is quite calm and very forthcoming. He seems like a normal well balanced teenager. And as you said he even shows concern and warns the detectives that the details are going to be horrible for them to hear. There really is no clear motive for this murder. Just a normal loving family with normal problems. One thing has crossed my mind.. was Keith the abuser? There has to be some reason that he chose to take her life.

    • @wlf88
      @wlf88 Рік тому

      it is not unimaginable! did you know 30 million animals go through having their throats slit everyday, so they can be people's food? have you looked at the truth about the slaughterhouse industry? if you're still eating them, you have worse suffering and more blood than this little girl's on your own hands everyday.

    What an odd case. Why on earth did he really do it? Without a realistic motive, he cannot be let in the public domain. This makes no sense at all.
    The poor parents left for a dance with 3 kids and returned with 1, and a horrific family home, turned into a bloodbath crime scene.
    Why virtually decapitate her if he loved her so much? Those injuries come from a place of hate.
