The magic phrase "voltage injection". The right order is, physical inspection, voltage injection, thermal camera. All this, plus experience, equals ,''job is done''!
This was a tricky one because it was exactly the same short as the normal charging current but thanks to your experience, you have explained and repaired it beautifully.
Great fix, always nice to see your smile when you find the short. Still pretty funny that all the caps are parallel from eachother but when one dies the whole tablet won't function anymore. Keep up the great video's.
Yes, saw the discolouration on that, there was also a 'blotch' mark on a larger one to the right about half way up.the chip. Wasn't sure if that was a healthy one either.
@@DaftFader I saw the problem cap, then noticed the 'other one' and thought "I wonder how many people are looking at that blotchy cap thinking it is the issue?" LOL
it's so interesting to see how you go in search of failure. The perfect tools and of course bigboss will help you and it went so easy after it. Very nice explainings. Thank you for the video
As always another enjoyable video. Thanks you for the the quick and easy explanations it’s far better than the long drawn out ones I have seen in other videos.
I wonder how many people that ask about replacing bypass caps know how small those things are and the area that you're working in is. I struggle to avoid knocking things off on Switch boards; I can't imagine trying to get a cap back in there. I was one of those "if it came off it has to go back on" people before I learned from you that it isn't necessarily the case depending on what the component is there for. Thanks for that teaching.
did my first successful micro soldering repair today thanks man for the info would have been able to do it without the knowledge I have gained from your videos
I just placed order for your camera bundle. 🙂 Expensive but I purchased thinking of you guys. Already repaired my asus motherboard new cap and Mosfet. Did it very carefully w 4k Logitech computer camera. And LED wall switch/blue lol light I recently received . Rigged it to say the least. But as soon as new camera arrives I will be almost like factory 🏭 👍🏻 Thanks again Flux and low melt solder make all the difference. As well as braided copper. Please keep saying outloud temperatures u use as well as hot air nozzle size per job. Thanks as always.
The day you uploaded this video was the day my daughters iPhone stopped working. It wouldn’t power on. We could tell that it was charging only if you used a wireless charger(the charger light on wireless charger would turn on). Thinking that it will have the same issue like this iPad in your video. Hopefully when I send it to you you’ll be able to fix it :)
The factory install many capacitors in parallel so that if one fail it does not affect the operation of the tablet, but if one capacitor fails the tablet does not work. :)
Chief just a quick question time stamp 12:20 , if we just leave the circuit without putting any cap isn't it ends up being an open circuit ? please excuse my English.
why don't you use thermal camera to locate the short circuit area and IPA to pin point the component..? and I think there are lot of small caps instead of a huge one cap is to lower the ESR... thanks for these videos ... cheers from Sri Lanka
The world ain't safe from missing capacitors anymore, but hey we have another working tablet, so it's worth it 😁 Thanks for the video master Alex. Greetings to all from Portugal.
The missing cap was once described to me by a friend, he said to think of a hair comb with just one tooth missing and it doesn't matter which tooth either. You can still comb your hair just fine.
Nice fix. Quick question you mentioned when troubleshooting you changed the screen and battery on the ipad, now will the customer get billed for a screen and battery as well or will you put the original back.
Brother, your videos are very good and informative. Your video zoom is blurred ta the start of video. Possibly the the lens of camera from which you are shooting video got some dirty or not set at proper zoom position
Interesting that this fault was hiding against normal behavior. Thanks for sharing! Where did you get the telescopic arm for your microscop camera from btw? 🙂
“Something right to the left of the diode” this is the funniest part of the video 😂
The smile on your face when you fix it will complete the day of the viewers. 💗

Agree.

I've watched your video since 2018.
Recently i open my own shop.
A big thanks to your videos.
Sometime visual inspection is the key to the words "consider the job done" Great..
Love from India

I saw the second one you mentioned, but didn't see the actual cap he took off. 😭
@@DaftFader I saw the problem cap, then noticed the 'other one' and thought "I wonder how many people are looking at that blotchy cap thinking it is the issue?" LOL
"Consider the Job done", love it when you say that.
the experience play the role in that sentence
Alex + voltage injection tool + thermo cam = JOB DONE
Awesome! I like it when you stop and ask us to see if we can find the problem
Thanks sir Alex, i like the way on how you explain about caps, example is very clear. Police officers and the guards. Wow.
The job is Done Alex...thanks for the videos.
that thermal cam is really the best tool to have
it's so interesting to see how you go in search of failure. The perfect tools and of course bigboss will help you and it went so easy after it. Very nice explainings. Thank you for the video
You make it look so easy! Love your way of teaching! God bless you.
Love the way how you proceed with the steps of diagnosing the problem...hats off
As always another enjoyable video. Thanks you for the the quick and easy explanations it’s far better than the long drawn out ones I have seen in other videos.
The wide range of knowledge you have detecting problems (1amp 0amp 1amp is CPU OR RAM) is amazing. You are a library
his suspicion is always on point. experience really shows. nice.

Nice example of finding the rootcause! Great video! :-)
Nice job Sir Alex,. I wish I had a microscope just like that! I really enjoy your lessons. "Asante sana"
Thats great! And how nice is to see how much your channel is growing. More than 1k likes in a few hours. Congratulations! You deserve it
The bit about testing for short while it's hot is a great piece of info. Learning something new in every video.
Fantastic diagnostic and fast repair as always Mr Fixit!
Glad I passed your question with flying colours (when you asked where's the problem in the board)... Thank you master for this razor sharp eyes 🙏
Me: Oh! That was a hard one 😯
Alex sensei: Piece of cake 😏👉
Saludos desde México.
The way he feels happy, Amazing, I enjoy too when you fix these things.

Greetings from philippines
Your videos are so satisfying to watch. I love the way you explain everything so well. Thanks a lot brother ♥️
I wish i had a thermal camera, its amazing. Nice job btw.
Thank you for the knowledge. I always wondered why circuit boards have lot of caps, and what happens if something is removed and not replaced.
Explained at. 10:30
Alex you the man (YTM)visual inspection does it again. Great job👍
I found the cap when he said, I’m getting better seeing those videos... great repair, great video
Visual Inspection is key to troubleshooting...👍 good job Alex !!!

Great job, Mr Alex you making love this job the more, thanks slot.
Great vidieo! When Big Boss reassembles the tablet, does he reinstall the customer's original battery and screen?
Great Job bro!
One question in mind is,
Changing iPad's battery is a hassle. Why changing battery, not checking it? isn't there a battery checker?
amazing what you can achieve by trained eyes, well done
Very practical solution saves a day. I agree with you that no cap is better.
Love your smile when you say "and the short is gone"😂✌
yes...At that moment he is just a little kid again who just caught his first bug in the garden 😁
Got a device in Northridge right now for a similar problem. Maybe it will show up in a future video. My untrained eye saw the blown part immediately.
The factory install many capacitors in parallel so that if one fail it does not affect the operation of the tablet, but if one capacitor fails the tablet does not work. :)
Awesome outcome, as usual! 👍
Good job sir.. watching here in the philippines
The KING is back!
Golden rule. Always make visual inspection 👌
Chief just a quick question time stamp 12:20 , if we just leave the circuit without putting any cap isn't it ends up being an open circuit ? please excuse my English.
great job troubleshooting. You make it look so easy.
Hi Alex, amazing man. Could you give us more information about the thermo camera that you use? I would like to buy it... Thank so much!
The physical inspection is proving to be very important
am always learning, really enjoy your videos
Good catch. Saludos desde Venezuela.
Very useful information...your videos help me a lot to know about various devices and their repairing...❤️ From India

Nice fix. First I tought it was power button problem.
You are a master repairman, Thanks for the video, it really helps a lot. Peace

Brother, your videos are very good and informative. Your video zoom is blurred ta the start of video. Possibly the the lens of camera from which you are shooting video got some dirty or not set at proper zoom position
As always great video. Wish I could work with you, I do the same work you do but unfortunately I cannot at the moment. Maybe one day.
Hi which multimeter do you use for analyzing the problem ? Many thanks for your answer with type of your multimeter.
9:47 go cap, go to 9th dimension freely. Your job is done. Nice work!

Great video man.
I saw that capacitor at first glance.
Really informative video.👍👍
Felicidades, Saludos desde Venezuela.
Did you put back the old battery or you assembled with the new one. I believe the old battery is still working fine. 🤔
