Just ordered mine today and yup new at it! Great review. I'm digging the little top step and the way I look at it is, I hunt smaller trees and maybe as low as 15feet. With the larger platform I think it'll make it easier to hide behind trees because of the added space to maneuver, just in case Buckzilla don't follow the script and come in where he's supposed to.

Great review, however, you kept saying "beginner". I've done arborist work in my past, I throw and go, with DRT, this platform is the best all around. I totally agree with the footing and the teeth which grip muddy shoes, and the step up is great for keeping your gear bag hanging above you. Can't go wrong with this great platform period. 👍🏻

Hey question how tall are you and whats your weight I have the same ambush lite I’m 6-1 237 I got the large xl and am concerned it might be too big I’m new to saddle hunting
I’m 6’ 230. My belief is you can’t have too large of a saddle. I can wear either Trophyline’s M/L or their L/XL. The L/XL seems to be a tad more comfortable for me.
Do you use the trophyline climbing sticks as well?
I don’t yet. Personally, I’m a fan of double steps. I have some buddies that use them and they’re a fan of them, but for my stout stature I like a resting place for both my feet. Though, I THINK TL has something in the works that fits mine and others preference.
newbie question: why wrap the edge with paracord?
Textile feel for your feet, reduces the chance of squeak from rubber boots, if boots are icy gives a little more grip and helps to silence it when packing. Definitely not necessary, just a preference.
