I’ve been making this for years. It’s much better when you slightly bump up the oil, butter, wine, lemon juice ratio so that you have enough liquid left to toss in pasta before plating. Always add more garlic than called for.
I just made shrimp scampi last night. I used more olive oil and butter for that reason. I’m very glad I found this channel; his shrimp looked way better than mine. Mine did get steamy. I really like this guy! 👍🏼😀

Yes! A little pasta water to deglaze the pan toss the pasta maybe add a little more butter and lemon juice. It's plain, dry pasta. Come on John you can do better.
Hello! I just moved in to my first apartment the other day and this was my first home cooked meal. I've never cooked shrimp before but your video made the dish look simple and delicious. I was definitely pleased with my results and will be coming back to this video again. Thank you for sharing! :)
Like bacon or butter, everything is better with more garlic. So yes, I always add more garlic in all my recipes. By the way, your videos are very entertaining and easy to follow.
I like how he uses things that you would have in your home instead of using a recipe that calls for an ultra mixer 3000 and ancient mushrooms found 30 meters below Egypt.
Absolutely amazing recipe! I made this last week and I’m making it again tonight. I’m very picky with my seafood recipes. Yes, I’m a bit of a seafood snob. Everything needs to be super fresh and top quality. I followed John’s recipe except for I removed the tails and added olive oil to the boiling water for my Angel Hair pasta. The shrimp was so tender and the flavors were to die for. Thank you John for another spectacular recipe. You’ve become my go-to for all of my You-Tube surfing. Well done sir!
I always eyeball the ingredients. I’ve never followed the exact amount lol I feel it makes it more my own and it always comes out amazing. And yes...the smell of garlic is amazing. I love garlic. Awesome recipe.
Most people never do this but there is another digestive tract on the bottom of the shrimp as well. I remove the tract from the top and the bottom. That’s how you make sure the shrimp is actually completely clean.
@@djmccall10 no, just ones with allergies. I've converted them on garlic though.

That looks delicious and easy to make. I always add about 50% more garlic than the recipe calls for. Best part is, I haven't seen a vampire for years now!
I make something similar but i always make more sauce with the shrimps and i add the pasta in the shrimps to finish cooking. Like that the pasta absorbs all the flavors and it is not dry. This pasta it looks dry to me honestly
Hi John I love this shrimp recipe. The shrimp are very expensive here in New Zealand, but sometime I treat myself to some shrimp, I usually just bake it in the oven, but I cooked using this recipe, it's beautiful, I think I will treat myself a bit more often now. THANK YOU.

Cosco sells shrimp in the shell but they are already cut down the back and deveined. They are in the frozen section in a large bag. So you can use as much or as little as you need.

You are just super down to earth and it really sets you apart from all the other cooking channels I watch. Especially with your humor! I legit lol'd when at the end after your first bite 😄
@@CranesWing yes you can use scallops. He seems like a very nice guy but I do not like his recipe. Everyone has their own taste though. My mother used to grind our own hamburger, she would put several garlic cloves in , I love and grow lots of garlic, probably the best thing for cooking! Love your videos!
I make my shrimp (Scampi) and pasta dish like you do. I love garlic but I don’t overwhelm the dish with too much garlic. I like to add some heat (red pepper flakes or Calabrian chili peppers sliced). Love some fresh lemon juice in the sauce and I add about a cup or so if a good fry white wine (I like Pinot Grigio and also find that a good Prosecco can work well). Not overcooking the shrimp is critical. Plenty of fresh flat leaf Italian Parsley mixed at the end. I like the dish either with egg Fettucini or Penne. I use a fine olive oil as well as unsalted butter in making the sauce …. One of my favorite dishes. On the shrimp definitely go with wild caught vs. farmed if possible. You can also incorporate some good sea scallops into the dish if desired.
