I went to school with Tone and honestly I wish that he had better people around he struggled with addiction and kept finding himself doing things that put him in trouble that our school would cover up. He wouldn’t come to class, he would steal from our lockers before practice, he needed discipline and everyone was letting him go under the radar because it was putting our school in a better light for having a top recruit. Wishing him the best, thanks for covering this Matt

Honestly the whole high school ranking & star system really gets to a lot of these heads. I’d take a humble hard working 3-4 star recruit willing to grow & develop ANY DAY over these same 5 star clowns whose ego and privilege continues to ruin their own journey and infect locker rooms all over.

He can be anonymous north of the border, make some decent cash and not have to worry about the headlines. I think they should do away with the national rankings for HS players. Just keep state rankings. At the end of the day, idk how you can say someone is the best in the country when there’s no legitimate tangible measures of how they compare to each other (other than measurables such as height, weight, speed and etc). You can’t go by stats 100% because of the difference in the level of competition and/or the type of offense the player plays in.

Alfano is designated a Canadian National for roster purposes, which means he was either born or raised in Canada, or one of his parents had a Canadian passport. Since there are a limited number of Americans permitted on a team’s active roster, being designated a Canadian could allow Alfano play a whole career up North if necessary.

LOL. @3:25 I immediately knew what the problem was. But I'll let the video play and see what else may have been going on.
So yeah, watching some of his highlights... dude wasnt that good, but he was good in HS because of where he was at. In Florida, Texas, or California, he would have been 3 stars at best. Hell, he wouldnt have been any better in most states in the South where football is king.
More than any of that though, dude aint right in the head. He didnt have to put in the work in HS in NJ. Once he was going to have to put in the actual work, he didnt have the stones to do it.
This also really points out many of the flaws with the way players are graded in HS.

For that to not be the case at Alabama or anywhere else says everything. He let his head get to big, and didn't have the character or work ethic for D1 ball. If he's talented as you all say, he could still come back. Not like he killed someone drinking and driving or anything, so it's very possible we will hear from him again.

Played in the rose bowl. Finished in the top 10 both seasons, he was the starter. And he barely gets a mention among top PSU QBs. In fact, still run into fans who wish Devlin got more of a look. #Mattbegreatneedstoseethiscommentgoviral

The player I remember the most being a dud was Brian Bosworth of Oklahoma Sooner fame. His pissy rich boy attitude and mediocre NFL career made him number one loser in my book.

This is exactly why no Freshman or HS player getting large sums of money before even practicing. IMO they shouldn’t receive NIL money until the week before Sept.1st.

I'll tell you about Arik Gilbert= He loves to beat up cops when he's DUI [Lumpkin County, Ga] and he's a clubhouse cancer. Anything else?

All that wasted talent. He could literally be making millions right now. If he had stayed at Bama, probably would’ve been a Top 5 NFL pick smh.

As a Bama fan, this is the weirdest, most interesting, weirdest, player/story of the Saban era. This guy was the #1 player and after that, basically called it quits. Just weird.

It would be difficult to get insured by the NCAA if you have epilepsy. Head trauma can make it worse. A RB and LB may have no chance. QB or lineman, better odds. His bad behavior was likely only half the issue
