  • The RAE Bedford was responsible for research and development and operations with catapults and arrestor gear for use on aircraft carriers. The film features sea trials carried out with Sea Vixens, Buccaneers and Gannets as well as ground trials at RAE Bedford including development of new systems for use with the Phantoms.

    An excellent upload thank you. It is extraordinary to think that HMS Victorious was prematurely retired nearly sixty years ago now.

    Unbelievable. I was onboard with 893 Squadron (Sea Vixen FAW2) when this was filmed. Fabulous memories.

      @@FASTAviationArchive Not specifically no, as far as I recall the closest he came to the FAA proper was sea cadets. However he did take several flights on RN helicopters during that time, including an observation flight to the Torrey Canyon while it was being bombed by Buccaneers.
