The game where the opposite team was celebrating was when Bird scored 60 points. The game before Kevin McHale broke the celtics scoring record at 54 and left the game early. Bird got on him for leaving saying "if I get that hot I'm not sitting down". He then told the press before the game that he would beat Kevin McHale's record when he scored 60. That's why it's so amazing

Also-- Jordan has said he learned how to trash talk from Larry...and he's not the only hall of famer/great who's said that.

Larry said the black players were better and since he was so good, he thought it was a disrespectful to get a white guard on him. He arrived hours early for a game and practiced. When the opposing team arrived, they would often see him running laps around the upper level. Then he practiced with the team and also stay after to practice many times as well.
Bird was shy off the court, but not on it. I know of only one time he missed a clutch shot.

And you have to take into consideration players didn't have the strict regime that players have now. Both Larry and MJ drank, MJ smoked as well. Imagine them structured today. I won't still compare anyone to MJ cause I think he had physical attributes that were alien, massive hands, the highest vertical to this day. But he still couldnt beat Larry, everytime he faced the Celtics with Larry he lost. So I'm saying MJ was the best physical specimen in the NBA so far and Larry was the best psychological specimen.

Larry Bird wasn't a white basketball player, he was THE white basketball player. A lot of the moves that you see him do that you call "oh that is so and so's move" ... no, that's Larry's move that was imitated and/or improved upon by that player you mentioned. One of the best things about Bird, is he doesn't have an ego. He talks trash, but he backs it up with exactly what he's saying so it's not disrespectful, it's facts. All of his opponents knew it too.
Oh, and I think the Larry Bird Celtics are the only team to give the Michael Jordan era Bulls problems (consistently) ... and you're talking a young MJ too (compared to Bird at the time).

..."Class of 76"...Black ball players were overall better than white players so Larry took it as disrespect...Larry was a country boy from French Lik.....When you get done with Larry react to Pistol Pete Maravich...every move by today's player's were 1st done by the Pistol in the 70's...

Bird is top 3 all time and he's not #3.... Lebron isn't even the greatest forward of all time.

You asked the question, "why ain't Bird talked about more". Well, everybody talking great mrntion Johnson, Jordan, Kareem, D.J., Thomas but they are what color? Bird was not, the best all round player the lrague has ever known and when it vomes to Bird it's crickets.
