New 2025 Opel Frontera Electric Revealed

A few weeks back, Opel gave us a glimpse of their new Frontera, and now the versatile, family-friendly compact SUV is making its official debut. The unveiling took place in Istanbul, where Opel CEO Florian Huettl, alongside Mark Adams, Vice President of Design, and Tobias A. Gubitz, Senior Vice President of Product & Pricing, presented the new Opel Frontera to an audience of international guests and numerous reporters. They also hinted at very competitive starting prices.
The new Frontera, with five seats and loaded with handy features, will be offered in a fully electric version-the Frontera Electric-priced at about €29,000; and a hybrid model-the Frontera Hybrid-priced around €24,000, including VAT in Germany.
Opel CEO Florian Huettl noted, "Opel has been pioneering in the automobile industry for 125 years, constantly advancing and providing innovative, practical, and affordable mobility solutions. The new Opel Frontera is a testament to our commitment, with its versatility, spaciousness, and electrification, it is set to attract new customer segments."
During the event, it was announced that the new Frontera won't just be a five-seater. Future plans include a seven-seater version, making it a perfect vehicle for transporting sports teams, friends, or large families.
The new Frontera features a bold design. It is the first model to sport the new Opel Blitz emblem, centered on the Opel Vizor brand fascia. Notable features include prominent wheel arches, distinctive sills, and a striking C-pillar. Inside, the design focuses on simplicity and functionality, featuring a newly designed steering wheel and dual 10-inch widescreens, with numerous practical features like an innovative smartphone station as standard.
The new Frontera emphasizes suitability for journeys. For added comfort, the front seats include new patented Intelli-Seats with a slot that helps alleviate tailbone pressure. The boot offers over 450 liters of storage space, which expands to 1,600 liters with the seats down. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Frontera can be equipped with optional roof rails and a roof tent with a ladder, designed specifically for the SUV. Upon reaching a destination, the Frontera can support up to 240 kilograms on its roof.
The Frontera is available with two drivetrain options-hybrid and fully electric. The hybrid starts at around €24,000 and features a 74 kW (100 hp) 1.2-liter gasoline turbo engine specially developed for hybrid applications. This engine works alongside a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor and an electrified six-speed dual clutch transmission, offering significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. An alternative version of the hybrid comes with a more powerful 100 kW (136 hp) 1.2-liter turbo engine.
The fully electric Frontera Electric, priced around €29,000, offers a range of over 300 kilometers per WLTP standards, with a long-range version capable of about 400 kilometers without needing a recharge.
The Frontera is available in basic or GS trims. Even the base model is well-equipped, and the GS variant includes features like multimedia infotainment with a 10-inch color touchscreen, navigation, and a rear-view camera. Two additional packages allow further customization.
Opel has simplified the purchasing process for the new Frontera, making it the first Opel model available for digital ordering through a "one-scroll experience." The product pages are optimized for any mobile device, allowing easy scrolling and selection. This enables buyers to purchase their new vehicle entirely online or through regional dealers in the near future.
