@ when you're going at the pace needed to make it to say, the top 10% of the leader board, a little mistake has a chance to total the car.
ya, played all previous Dirt games with a KB. they were all fine, except DR was a bit of a nightmare so I bought a controller yesterday....

Luke Reilly really is an expert at reviewing racing games, I don't think there's a review he's made that isn't fair and accurate in its conclusion and you can tell he's an enthusiast of the genre. A real gem of a reviewer!
Luke Reily continues to be the BEST reviewer at IGN. The passion, wit & knowledge is present in every one of his reviews. I have 0 interest in this game... but man, his excitement makes me want to just buy the damn thing.

I added it downloaded it yesterday but this game crazy
Its a steep learning curve but it's so rewarding when you finally pull it off
Fairly detailed writing including graphics, sound, progression.
Test the game on miltiple systems with muiltple input methods.
Knows lots about the subject and can confidently talk about changes compared to earlier games.
So much benefits for having the right reviewer.
I just can't believe video quality is 1080p and it's fuzzy like that 🤷🏿♂️
Might just be resolution on console... Guys sorry but simulation should be played only on PC.

@@SillyOlive sadly, because of the complexity of scenes (a truckload of foilage) youtube's compression falls flat.
Dirt rally is one of those games where pushing your limits and skill to get the best time possible is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences, that can also be one of the most frustrating and punishing experiences. One poor judgement or small error and you will be off a cliff rolling 11 times. What i really want to see, once I've played the game, is if they've improved the weightiness of the cars since that's what really held the first Dirt Rally back from really being on an RBR level. You couldn't really Scandinavian flick incredibly well and get the car to rotate around properly for example. there were tuning settings that made it better but it still wasn't quite right. I'd say somewhere in between SLRE (say what you want about Sebastian Loeb Rally Evo but the handling and physics were pretty on point but maybe a bit exaggerated) and DIRT Rally 1 and it would be perfect imo.
I think they greatly improved the feeling of the weight. And lateral grip too.
Looks like I'll be doing some rallying this month.
Had this game for over a year because of the solid reviews. Great game but now I've set up a Logitech G29 and racing cockpit it's literally the best game I have played..only racing game genuinely built for a wheel. A car enthusiasts wet dream

It is free, you dont even have to buy ps plus my guy. Just create a new account, and get 2 weeks free. That way you can obviously play online and download the free games, just set the new account to primary and you'll be able to do everything on your main
YeH, it's a great game, used to love Colin mcrae rally and it gets me off boring fifa

I really prefer having hand made stages rather then procedural ones. Much as I love the DiRT series, procedurally generated stages actually put me off the game.
That is because they weren't "procedurally generated". They were premade track sections randomly stuck together in different orders. Actual PCG creates great rally courses. Look at Assetto Corsa's mod for example. Much better than handmade ones. The problem with those is you learn them. Rally is about NOT knowing the track. Otherwise it's not a rally course, its a trail.
I would like procedural generation added to this, so you can have a completely "original" stage or the standard ones. I agree with Wylie - rally is about not knowing the course, so it would be nice to have that manifested in a game. Dirt 4 was an ok first attempt, and I loved it, but I wasn't one of the people who got bored with the courses
It wasn't an OK first attempt. At the very least more of the pre-made pieces could have been made. But really someone needs to just come up with a decent actual procedural system. The roads already seem to be spline based as it is. The game pretty much support it. Just have the game create that spline. Step could even have a 180 degree radius limit. So its always progressing forward away from the rest of the track. This removes a lot of the complication. And they could just do the whole field scenery thing. That would be an ok first attempt.
I don't care too much about the track coming to head back the other way or having trees or rocks around all that much at first. I just want proper course generation.
why are you correcting procedural? pre-made track sections in random orders is still procedural.
2.0 by far the best in the series.. Not as easy to handle the cars in dirt 4 but when u master the handling can be so rewarding

Not too bothered about the generated tracks to be honest. My favourite thing about the first dirt rally was having my favourite tracks and bettering myself every time. Didn’t really get that same feeling and replayability with Dirt 4

Also accessibility. Dirt 2.0 is for hardcore sim racing fans, whereas Dirt 4 is for everyone.
Personally I like both, but ultimately it comes down to opinion.
@@AN-kb4kh Accessibility shouldn't drag a game down. Should a chess game get lowered score because it isn't for everyone? You have to review a game based on the crowd it was intended for and how well it does to please that crowd, not how accessible it is for everyone.

Dirt 4 had on 20 different corners total lol. Very boring.

Is the steering improved from Dirt 4 ? Since Dirt 4 was almost impossible to play on a controller, the front end of the cars was always wandering around, and you always crashed into trees or walls, been playing racing games for 20 years, and not seen a game with steering like that.
Online requirements are typically used as a form of DRM on PC the game will install about 90% of what you need to run it and the other part is sent to your computer while it is connected to the internet It's often done in single players games which makes no sense from the outside looking in but by sending this data to the computer the verified owners can play the game while it is typically just enough to break the game if someone tries to exploit the DRM. In single player mode is most likely to prevent folks from doing this as very few people will bother going thru the time to put multiplayer in a cracked game. So by doing this to single player you virtually break the only part of the game people who have cracked copies could use.

why only 60fps? go beyond that fps mark its pc not console (even tho console barely hits that mark) reach for the hundreds of fps youll notice a difference but when you play games and for some reason drop below 60 you can start noticing frame drop when youve gotten used to very high fps

I really love rally racing games they were my most bought games on ps1. Would like to get dirt rally 2.0 but if it needs internet then it's a no go for me.
Dirt 4 was fun but eventually I still went back to play Dirt Rally. The car just feel better and more realistic to me in Dirt Rally than Dirt 4. Hope Dirt Rally 2’s physic mechanic is not a downgraded version of first Dirt Rally

The comment about the difficulty slider is misleading. It only applies to freeplay, not career, where arguably you would want a difficulty slider.
ive only been playing for 30 mins the co-driver is annoying keeps telling me dont cut? wtf you on about mate? theres one road cant exactly cut anything, ill cut something in a minute!

If you can afford it, get yourself an external hard drive. I, too have a 500GB PS4 and it was all fine up until I started branching out to other games. Bought a 2TB drive and things have been GREAT since.

Richard Burns rally was better. Colin McRae was great was well. Don’t think another WRC driver will lend his name to a game though. Seems a bit cursed
1:20 impossible enemies which never make mistakes are not gameplay or a challenge.
The lack of initial content really kills this game for me. Nothing even remotely like current gen WRC cars and a chronic lack of countries make shelling out full price a right waste of cash. Having the official WRX is a help and it would be great to see the new Silverstone circuit having attended the inaugural event last year.
You won't see current WRC cars ever. They don't have the license.
they are focused on realism and competition. not single player campaign. that's the difference from WRC series.

they better make this available on PSVR like DiRT Rally 1. not making it for PSVR is a really bad idea, considering they Have already confirmed that it's coming to the Oculus Rift. buying it just for Australia because the Aussie stages in Dirt 4 were great, but disappointed it had no VR Mode.
