Love that little hop you did when you pull started it like a two step jig.

Great video I just bought one that was disassembled and was missing the spring for the governor arm adjustment I should be able to fix my generator now thanks to this video 👍

You were adjusting the Governor response and NOT the throttle.
Nice video and I was able to see an Item that wasn't set properly on my carb linkage and I thank you for that.

Thank you much. Yes it’s oddly satisfying and you can be left feeling like you’ve done a good deed. Better be able to use something for another decade then it clutter up our already cluttered dumps.

    sigh.....constructive critisim here.
Engine has nothing to do woith output on power side.
Feild windings, there are 3 pairs. Test for continuity.
    Brushes or brushless?
    Makes a world fo difference.
Could be the capacitor on trhe inside ofthe brush cover if so equipped.
    Brush length and condition?
    Didoes? Bridge rectifier .
Oh that model, 75% of the time the feild windings have shorted to ground and its toast- no longer available to find replacements . Might get lucky and find another one with good windings but not to likely considering the age,
    Basic electrical trouble shooting.

Anyone working on the generators should have a tachometer to see if the generator (ones without the inverter) is running near 3600 rpm and a frequency meter to see if the voltage is close to 120/240 volts and 60 Hz.

@@ralphmowery2898 On the off chance that you haven't developed a tuned ear to what 3600 sounds like then I hardly see the need to do that.
Most DVOM's have that ability to measure the RPMs ...
Near 3600 isn't good enough. 3600 flat out at 60 Hz or nada.
Hint: it may say 5Kw or even 9 Kw but the unit will only produce that if under a full load and even then, you will kill the unit. Most of these are not designed nor intended to run full out loads all the time.
75% is the rule of thumb.
So with this unit, rated at 5Kw you're best bet to not overload the unit and keep it at or below 75% , roughly 20 amps, 1 outlet and only one.
Pushing these overheats the windings and causes them to short and then fail. Sometimes I've even seen these start a small fire due to the windings in the stator grounding.
You can max out any thing, but do you really wanna buy another one right away?
