Why would anyone say such horrible things about Positano-it will NEVER be an “S” hole. I never got the impression that Nicki and Carlo thought that either. It is nice to have two completely different places to live, it is the reward for hard work. Both places are amazing:)

They’re probably those types that live in wooden houses on hoa’s and everyone lives in properties that look very similar and have neat little lawns and is barely older than the people living in these places. Hard to understand that history, topography and the previous generations and their professions has dictated the layout. Beauty is held in every building, view, and the population that make up its core. Modern buildings have absolutely none of this. Fine if that’s what you want in life, the shallow aesthetics but most Europeans at least appreciate the history in particular that makes a place what it is.

May 2017 on a Sunday my husband and I in a rental car rode from Pompei to Positano along the Amalfi coast, found a parking place in a tiny little parking lot , 1/2 down n walked down. When we got down to the beach, the restaurant on right, (not beach level, 1 story up), we sit at the corner table and had a fabulous lunch, fabulous view, everything fabulous!! I just wanted to pinch myself, I was so amazed and overwhelmed that we were sitting where we were, at 62 yr olds first trip to Europe!! Everyday of the 38 day road trip was magical( ok not flying but the rest was awesome)!! We put our feet in the water at yalls beach where you swim n kayak !! lol two older people feeling young!! Just one of the best days on our trip!! Couldn’t believe during pandemic I found your channel, we have been there!! Wow!! Keep filming you two n forget about the “sad people”!! They are not worth mentioning!! We appreciate yall sharing your homes!! 🥰🥰🥰love from Kentucky USA

I am guessing it was an entitled American who doesn’t like stairs or cues for supper. Also thinks the stores have no business closing for part of the day and if they are shopping should remain open until all of their wants and needs have been met. They are unable to enjoy the experience and as such should do everyone a favor and stay home.

It reminds me of when I was a child, life so much simpler, neighbors knew each other and I remember my grandmother always calling her neighbor Mrs. So and so, and we knew everyone we did business with by name and we took the time to have a nice chat. Now, everyone is on their mobile phone with their heads buried as if to avoid contact with anyone else. I really am envious of many of the things you both have there, such a sense of community. Tuscany is wonderful but what is missing in Tuscany is family, friends everywhere and a deep seated community that you’ve been apart of for years. That takes time to develope. Positano is beautiful, unique and dreamy. How anyone could look at the Almalfi coast and see a shithole, they must be blind. But what I like the most is the constant get togethers, festivals, the community events, the people! What I would like the least is the large number of tourists all summer. But if it wasn’t so amazing, the tourists wouldn’t come! Why choose, you have the best of both locations! Live, love and pursue your dreams, unhappy people will always find fault!

Had to laugh at the ending with the Ahs and Umms. Sweet. I think it's great that you are able to live in two places. Being in Tuscany doesn't mean you stop loving Positano. The other reason: There may come a day, sooner than later, when those steps are not manageable. And you are trapped, literally. You are both clearly in great shape as you do the daily walks, eat healthily and seem to not suffer from stress (which can impact your overall health in a zillion ways). And you both clearly enjoy each other's company and that of your friends and have a sense of humor. As you both mentioned, no matter where you live, there is always "stuff" and depending on your circumstances, it can make life miserable or just be an annoyance or nuisance. Tuscany's many different cities, etc aren't perfect either and let's be honest, there is a lot of stuff in Italy that is just challenging in terms of paperwork and approvals. As for paying bills in person or online, yes, it's great to see pals. But...there are times when you can't get out and you need the option to pay online. Options are always good. I really enjoy the shopping videos and I wish you could include prices on some items to get an idea of costs. It is great to have a community behind you, which is a benefit of living somewhere from birth where, truly, you know practically everyone (sometimes, of course, that can be a problem as well as grudges in small communities can be problematic cause there is nowhere to hide from each other!)

I think you have the perfect lifestyle. You have two homes and can travel between the two. At 50 I would have managed the steps in Positano. A beautiful location with lots of friends, family and familiarities. Now at 60 I would be exhausted by the steps and would probably spend more time in Tuscany. But we are all different. If you stay well and healthy there is no reason why you cannot keep doing what you are doing. Look at lovely Harry! I’m sure you have his genes. You will know when you are ready to make any permanent decisions because your body will tell you. It’s not so much age but health. I love watching you travel back and forth and kudos to you for creating such a wonderful lifestyle. I was torn because of my elderly mother and my brothers were taking care of her. There was guilt. But at the end of the day she was happy and she had support from those that chose to stay. There is no point everyone choosing to stay to look after her. We do have to do what we have to do. It’s tough but it’s life. It’s not like she has been abandoned completely. Nothing is ever easy. Enjoy every minute and only stop when your body tells you to. ❤

To answer the question about ambulances, well, EMT’s have a strong canvas basket-like seat (or a full body length one) with handles on the sides (like a small hammock) that is very maneuverable they can carry someone with (if the person is big or heavy, you get more people). If there is a potential spinal injury, you’d have to use a backboard though it is more difficult. In short, they make a plan based on what is before them and they get on with it.

Positano is beautiful and the comment made was disgraceful.
I love your question and answer vlogs and admire your patience.
A long time ago Carlo spoke to two elderly gentlemen about their early days in Positano which was fascinating.
Tourism has certainly changed things but the community spirit is still very strong.
Enjoy your wonderful life between homes we love hearing about it.
    Thank you both - Sam

Positano is a beautiful place and it's your home! Don't mind the person who said that horrible thing, he's a very sour obnoxious person. You don't need that type of negativity! I've been watching your videos every week since my son was born. It's almost been four years and I'm looking forward to it every week! Thank you for showing your lives to us and you are lovely people! The end of the video sounded like a humming symphony 😂

I agree about going to pay your bill in a shop. The gigantic. difference between where I live in California and Tuscany is in the degree of social connectivity and community. In Palo Alto, which is the heart of the Silicon Valley. Everyone lives in their own little shallow house. They are nice looking houses and quite expensive, but there is minimal community. On my street people wave but beyond that the connection is a once a year block party. In Tuscany, I go to the bae centrale and that is the center of the universe in the small town I live in. In addition, there are two restaurants that are very community centric. In Palo Alto, no such thing exists like the bar or those restaurants. I miss it terribly when I’m not there.

I lived in a tourist town in the US and hated it during tourist season. We were pretty much relagated to staying home because of the same reasons you would have in Positano. And yes, prices were ridiculous and there was no such thing as a resident discount. I now live very rural in the country and enjoy it much better. I wouldn't mind going back where I lived in the off-season if I had a place there to go. I love where I live now.. so peaceful and serene. I'd never move back! I love BOTH of your homes and love being able to experience them with you as you go back and forth. Thank you for sharing!

Nikki, you are so good at making each video interesting in its own way on both channels! Enjoying every bit of it, the compilation at the end was funny. If you run out of ideas, which I hope you'll never do, I'd be interested in your wardrobe, where you get it basically, thanks. Carlo, pls do not stop speaking Italian in the videos, it is such a good practise for me twice a week ;-), your English has improved very much lately!

My daughter and I stayed in Positano and shopped at the same little store. Loved it. It had everything we needed. The cherries were in season, they were the best I ever eat. It’s a very unique place.

I think it is wonderful that Carlo still pays his bill IN PERSON. That all those little shops still exist and thrive. I love going to actual stores, knowing the owners, conversing with other shoppers too. The internet has destroyed so much of society, I am glad so much of the way we used to live still exists in small towns all over the world. May it always be so.
