I am a retired Senior Master of Art (Teaching) in South Australia & until now I have ben a silent viewer of your really great work. This piece is a real piece of Art from a lathe, a piece that deserves to be on display as a piece of Art, not just as another woodturning bowl. Rather than just watch your great skill in woodturning, I would love to hear you as you talk your way through a project. I do love your work, I would rather you produce a 'sound' video rather than a 'silent' video. Great piece of woodturning Art & beautiful 'finish'. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
I noticed your wife does your website. Though your beautiful pieces are beyond my budget, I am grateful to watch you at work creating them. You two make a great team!
At the beginning of this video I thought the wood was going to fly off of the lathe! I do like this masterpiece without the bark! And what a masterpiece you have created! Your talent has me on overdrive because I have not seen such gorgeous work over and over again! This is amazing work! You are blessed with a special kind of talent that is inspiring to many!! Bravo!
I'm running out of superlatives. Let's just say I love to watch another artist work. And your videos are rather cinematic in nature and just beautiful to watch. Always a pleasant few minutes with a cup of coffee!! ❤❤🎵🎵
From a massive ungainly chunk has emerged another astounding piece of art. Watching your work come to be, is mesmerizing, thrilling and yet serene. Thank you.
I allways wanna drop my brain away when I see your works... in kind of woods, dimensions and shapes.... stunning!!! Real often kind of woods I've never heard before!!! Hawaii an Hiawe... what ever it will be... but the result... oh, Lord!!! 😍😍🤩❤
This is a really fantastic piece of art that you've created. Truly amazing how you can find such a beautiful object waiting inside a chunk of wood for someone to let it out.
How beautiful..it’s a gorgeous piece of wood, not only nice grained but the change of colour makes it look almost like it’s been stained a different colour.,it’s very exotic looking 😀
Used to do turning in high school and getting interested again after many years. This is a very different approach to turning and it comes out amazing!!! Makes me want to get back in to turning even sooner.....
The initial phases of this video had me sitting back from the screen.....I thought your lathe was going walk out the door and take a stroll by the lake! I wish I could afford to send you another invasive and beautiful species of wood...the Rainbow Eucalyptus...which is plentiful here where I live on Kauai. Beautiful craftsmanship as always....best wishes and stay healthy.
There are a lot of turning videos out there, but this is the most beautiful result I've seen. Truly excellent work, with rigorous attention to finish and detail. A pleasure to watch.
It's so wonderful to watch you bring the beauty out of these pieces of wood. Who have thought by looking at what you started with that it could have turned out so gorgeous! Bravo!!
Beautiful so beautiful. Every time I watch him work, I am amazed at how creative and intense his turns are. I would love to have a pot or bowl. Thank you.
Wow! An Incrediblely stunning bowl. I love the color and the grains. You put a gorgeous finish on this piece. Love it. Stay safe and healthy. Thanks for sharing. Love love it from northeastern mountains in Arizona. 😺❤
You did a super great job David on that kiawe and I know you had fun with all that end grain!!... cuz it is so dense, but also it’s awesome in its coloration and grain structure, and takes a beautiful finish as you did with this piece. Like the shape and turned out wings. It makes it different!! Awesome job my friend!!👍👍👍👍✌️
Thank you John! Yeah this one was tough and it took me a while to realize I needed to stick with a simple-ish concept rather than pimping it out with say a pedestal foot or even a lid/finial. Sometimes less is more! ✌️
Beautiful piece of art. I agree with the previous poster. Hearing your voiceover while working and explaining what you are doing and why, would make this so much nicer.
I'm amazed at how you were able to keep the natural edge. Absolutely stunning💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 someone else said in the comments that they would prefer to hear you talking us through the process, and I agree. I would rather listen to you and the shop sounds than listen to the music. Just a thought.
Hi David, I just want to let you know that you do very good by putting the century on your dates. Most of the wood turning folks don't do that and I highly recommend it to all. I was taught that decades ago with my needlework to always put the 4 digits in the dates. Your work is outstanding and it will hold the test of time so properly dated pieces is appropriate.
David your humility is exemplary man! With such a good talent, people shove down other's throat those pesky subscribe buttons, bells and jingles. But watching your videos is like watching a nice relaxing movie. You and your work are both amazing! Thank you for creating this wonderful channel!
Thank you, Janki! I do throw it those cute subscribe/like animations but I’m glad you don’t feel like it’s too invasive. Cheers and thanks for the support! ✌️
always in awe of not only your ability but the production value makes your channel the total package......I have a niece who wants to turn for a living and your channel is what I told her to watch for an example of not only the skill required but the social and media skills that complete the picture........now to get her to cut 000's of pepper mills so she will understand production turning
Bravo....again....David! I don’t have that art gene in me for sure but I dearly love watching and appreciating someone who does! You still have some of the most creative production skills as well. Love the opening and closing of your videos.
I thought that was nice wood before you even started working on it! But it’s even nicer when you finish it! Well, not quite finished. I wrote this just before you finished it. This part when finished {Love it!!! It’s Gorgeous 👍🏻👏🏻💫🥰‼️}
I can watch this all day, brings back childhood memories of watching my neighbor create on his lathe. I wish I would have learned way back then. thank You for this.
Hi David... what a stunning bowl... I love the wings.. the colours are amazing... a beautifully crafted video as always... take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Absolutely Incredible talented man and his artwork!! Far away from just woodwork. Whatever you make next will be stupendous for sure. A person must be born with this kind of talent. I don't think you just learn it. Thank you David! So relaxing to watch and listen.
Used to heat river rock to extreme temps for cooking. "beast" saw blades dull quickly. Yup this wood has character to appreciate, at the price of your equipment. That to courage to turn. To me it is a "Priceless Piece" Aloha from Hawaii.
Beautiful piece of wood, with great tones and grain. I really like the natural edge and finish, enhances the grain perfectly I enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing
Very beautiful! At first it seems like might become a disaster at any moment but turned into a work of art! I really enjoyed the close up shots on the turn table near the end! Magnificent!
Wow awesome project my goodman. Love how you used the woods shape rather than a boring round bowl and loosing so much or wood in the process. Too good. Keep up the wonderful well thought work.
A beautiful piece of wood expertly turned. I'm a huge fan of Hawaiian wood as several years ago I managed to buy some Koa. It's almost impossible to source nowadays except in pen blanks.
Ya had me wondering where you were going with this chunk of wood. It sure turned out to be a beautiful wood turning. I like it! Thanks for sharing, David. 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍

I actually prefer no talking in the video… thank you for another enjoyable video and fantastic project!!
Восхищаюсь художественным талантом мастера! Великолепная работа! Я очень люблю смотреть на то, как из куска дерева рождается шедевр. Супер!
I noticed your wife does your website. Though your beautiful pieces are beyond my budget, I am grateful to watch you at work creating them. You two make a great team!
Beautifully done. I had my doubts at first you could pull it off. Glad you proved me wrong. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Some of the best photography I've ever seen in woodturning videos. Beautiful project. True work of art.
I can only repeat myself once again, you are an awesome “woodie”!
The color of that wood is amazing. It's like sunshine in a tree. You did it justice.
All wood is beautiful, but that particular type is spectacular. The grain and colour are sublime.
Beautiful work. The colors and grain are stunning.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words!
Amazing bowl, the woodworking club shop turning is the most popular activity. With 11 lathes sometimes you can't because they're all busy.
Hawaii an Hiawe... what ever it will be... but the result... oh, Lord!!! 😍😍🤩❤
Cheers!
This is a lovely piece. I read your bio and saw that you've only been woodturning since 2019. All I can say is "Wow, what skill!"
Thank you Lynn!
Great videos. There should be a Woodturning Oscar. You would take home the prize. Thanks
Hehe,, cn u see my workshop 🙏☺
This is a really fantastic piece of art that you've created. Truly amazing how you can find such a beautiful object waiting inside a chunk of wood for someone to let it out.
Thank you Stanley!
Beautiful work from Maine. Used to live in Mechanic Falls, outside of Auburn. Now in NC, for 30+ years. Good job David.
Another fine piece of work. Thanks for sharing. I have a piece of lychee with similar shape. Now I have a better vision on ways to turn it.
I can't even describe how gorgeous that bowl is...you are so lucky to be able to turn such a stunning piece of wood!
Thank you Carol!
What’s the word for: visionary, creative, brave, stunning, hypnotic, relaxing, finesse, craftsmanship, patient and beautiful? Yeah, that word. 👍🏽
Breathtaking!!!

Absolutely beautiful David as always.
Can always count on the beauty of the wood when you are finished.
Bloody beautiful work David!
I’m I silly or does the back remind a little of a boat propeller 😅
You've given me a deeper appreciation of wood. A masterpiece.
You didn't appreciate wood deeply before? Sad.
You’ve made it again a very beautiful piece of wood to a beautiful bowl. Never get tired of watching your work and thanks for that. 🤗
Thank you so much Peter!
Oh yes, this looks very useful for winter nights when it's too cold to go to the washroom ... just kidding, it's great!
I'm glad you kept the shape of the wood along the top rim, it was too beautiful to completely turn away! Nice work, gorgeous bowl
David, you never fail to surprise me with your artistic flair. Wonderful piece.
Thanks so much, Sue! ✌️

I do love these lily-petal bowls. Man, this one fought with you at first! Thought the (old) lathe was going to walk away.
