They didn't even offer it at my local McDonald's. They should force them to participate. That being said, I found that I can get 2 double cheeseburgers or 1 double cheeseburger and a 4 piece nugget, large fries, and a large drink for about $6 if I order on the app twice. It nets me points for free McDonald's. One interesting thing I noticed at my local McDonald's is how empty it's been for the past few months. Strangely, it used to be packed during meal rush, but it's almost completely empty nowadays. People are pulling back big time.

In Texas, a McDouble is 3.50 alone. So I think this is a great deal. I used to live in CA also and I remember that McDonald’s had a special for mix/match a McDouble and/or McChicken for 2.50. This was around 10 years ago.

I just got the $5 meal today at McDonalds in NC. I used the app and was able to upgrade the small drink to large, for only 29 cents extra. So it totalled to around $5.29 before tax. But still under $6 with tax.
yeah same here in Phoenix it was 5 bucks, I was lazy and failed to look at how much it would cost to upgrade my drink but I'd imagine it would be similar to the 29 cents you paid. For $5.45 it was a nice deal.

All three of my local (Wa state) McDonald’s have a six dollar Mc double as well. The chicken is five dollars as advertised, but yeah, the burger is a dollar more. I really feel like I got bait and switched yesterday when I went and got the deal.

A few other western states and elsewhwere are at $6 such as here in Hawaii. Was noted in the news about the dollar more for some of the states.

I always get some of the hot mustard at McDonald's, then I use it to dip the egg rolls in from Jack in the Box. Jack has a wide variety of sauces but no hot mustard. Problem solved!
I was at McDonald's last Sunday. I thought, where i live, it was a good deal for $5. You don't get much for $5. They have to charge $6 because of $20 minimum wage in California.

McDonald's $5 meal deal is definitely better than Burger King's $5 meal which gives you joke size fries and drink and Burger King won't even let you swap the fries with onion rings without upcharging despite being the same price.

At $6 in southern California.. You're actually getting a better 'deal' relative to the rest of us because the prices of the items individually are more. Just as an FYI. Even at $5.. they still make a profit. So that tells you how much they're really gouging you.
The price isnt because of SoCal... A lot of states especially on the east coast are more expensive then SoCal...
Overall, it's more expensive here. I live in West LA by the beach but even the Bay Area in Northern California is more pricey than anywhere.
