- Have a bumpy lawn you want to make smooth and level? In this video, we'll show how to level lawn ruts and other bumpy spots in your lawn. You'll see how to use sand and compost to topdress your lawn to make it smooth as a pool table.

Another excellent video! You are a pro. How deep of a rut can you fill in one pass when leveling? I have about a 4 foot round dip in St Augustine that is a good 4 inches deep. The high edges get scalped when it's mowed. I'm afraid to kill the grass if I fill it all at once. Also, are you located in north GA?
@@rldunn38 Depends RobD. I've seen 3 inches or filled in one session. I would build that 4 foot area over several sessions. Don't do it all at one time. Yep! I'm in northeast GA.

A leveling rake is one of the best investments in lawn care items I’ve ever made. They are awesome and make leveling so easy. Between that and my California Trimmer I’m having a blast!

I use a levelling rake and it gives a far superior result over other methods I have previously used.
Nothing like a good leveling rake for top dressing and leveling work.

@@RonHenry mines do really need a lot of work. Plenty of crabgrass, random plants like horse-weed, nightshade, pokeweed, ostrich fern, chickweed, clover, etc.. not sure if i should shave it all and begin from scratch!
