Bad azz, been drumming since 1988 myself. Played the holly wood club circuit in late 80's/early 90's in several metal bands. I learned on a 9 piece double kick Tama rockstar which took more time than someone starting out on a 5 piece.I have to thank my mother for buying me that kit. The funny thing is the music store screwed up and gave me a free extra 5 piece in matching style and colors with it which confused me at unboxing but I it sold for cymbals I did not have! LOL Unforgettable memories of fun! Good job teaching dude! Timing is everything but a word of advice, You learn an advance faster playing with others in a band or having a bass player handy than without! It sure beats a machine when your able. I also can't stress how important it is for a drummer and a bass player to be in tune with each other. When you have that its special, is gold. When I was starting out things like IRIG and phone apps did not exist which really made things easier then when you were by yourself in the "garage days" of old. Ahhh, nothing like the smell of hot tube amps during a session in a warm garage, the smell of warm spilt beer, the dust floating in the air through the rays of sunlight and the reverb coming off the walls. The humid and sweaty conditions in some dank,bathroom size back stage room waiting to go on for your set (Waters club in Socal)..looking back I often think of how many of the clubs were fire deathtraps waiting to happen that I performed in and then think of the "The Station" tragedy years later after my experiences.....Again, memories
