The thing that I just now noticed was at 9:13 - he did this all the time: he would look directly into the camera and break the fourth wall. The thing with him doing it was that he did it so subtly that it wasn’t uncomfortable.
Laurel and Hardy were true comic genius. I love their movies, but this particular movie has always been my favorite. This harp scene is one of the reasons why. How many would have thought of this must less pulled it off thru to their escape (?).

Ollie's facial expressions at Stan's antics, throughout all their movies are comedy genius...and aside from all other aspects, particularly make me laugh....especially the scene in the jail cell with Stan playing the bed springs like a harp. Timeless comedy gold 👍
Stan wrote the material. Ollie had the ability to look at people through the lens of a camera, bringing you into the scene. It was pure magic. Both were brilliant actors.
When I first watched this film on WPIX TV Ch.11 in NYC back in 1959(20 years after it sas first released)..I cried when I saw poor Ollie get killed in that plane crash(I was three years old and that scene scared the hell out of me)..it was more bizarre to see him come back to life as a talking horse(this was before we had"Francis The Talking Mule"and "Mr.Ed"The Talking Horse")…and long before I knew of The Eastern religion of "Reincarnation".
you’re not the only one disturbed by it. hell, it was my one and only peeve with this movie. Something about seeing Ollie’s spirit rising from the plane wreckage and ascending to Heaven that made my insides lurch…
Dec 2023 my dad showed me this comedy genius and I can honestly say it's the best over ever seen. Some people don't get it. But they don't know comedy.
A nice comedy movie! Laurel and Hardy are best in their performance. Hardy's love and broken heart for Georgette is really awesome! And how they escaped from the prison cell and their end in a jet plane is quite watchable!! Enjoyed this movie very much.❤❤😊
Laurel and hardy ! How many years have gone watching their movies in full screen. You go like a children laughing and laughing forgetting the age and situation. Now in my 80 s still watching thie film with same sprit and laughing heartily. Especially Laurael is looks so pathetic in face and look and hardy with his facial moment brings stories..A special pat to him for the way he waves his tie in joy and anger. The two inseparable died in frequent intervals. Passing of time cannot wane their fame. Still ever green in our memories. With love failure he takes his photo flower bokey walks to his room , what a scene. Whatever silky mistake Laurel do Hardy forgives him just like that ..
