You seems happy and enjoyed meeting people in the masjid (mosque). You can go and eat there for free everyday during Ramadhan. After Ramadhan there will be a celebration called Eid al Fitri for one month. Many people will do 'open house' and offer variety of foods for free too especially during the weekends.

Maybe if your wife and I kun return from Japan ,during this Ramadhan, you can bring them to iftar too. Those food spread during iftar at mosque are usually sponsored by mosque or donated by kind donors. Hence, different menu at different mosque depending on budget that they have or donation they received.

Just take it as part of your journey to learn the local culture, see the foods, and maybe see the difference between mosques (design etc). In general, people will welcome and appreciate you when they know you're fasting and learning the culture. Perhaps you want to go to bigger mosques like Tuanku Mizan Mosque / Steel mosque or the Pink Mosque in Putrajaya. Why not ?.

Would you like to experience Hari Raya celebration outside of KL? I live in KL but I celebrate it with my family in hometown, 2.5 hours to the south of KL. If you're interested, I can provide a place for your family to sleep. 21-23 Apr.
