Frankie went to Rocky Point HS. Frankie is a phenomenal athlete, Frankie is probably a top .01% of athletes for his size. FRANKIE was throwing 90 or 91mph as a senior in HS. He is great kid and a very diligent worker
This is exactly why i dont understand how more people arent playing baseball. Especially if their goal is to go pro in a sport. You dont need to hope you'll get tall. And if anyone says "you need tons of equipmen". No, not to be a pitcher you dont. Besides, only one position on the field needs more than a glove. And to be a pitcher you don't even need a single person to practice with most of the time. Pitchers should be coming from all over the world to the MLB. Not to mention every pro team has 13 active pitchers (390 active pitchers in the league) so there are far more opportunities to get a job as a pitcher than in other position in any pro sport.
@TheRoadLessChosen Here is a huge list of Cuban Players who made the MLB: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_players_from_Cuba It's only expensive if you make it expensive by choice. It's not Polo or F1. To be in the top tier of any sport isn't easy and requires tons of practice on mechanics. With that said, you could make a career in baseball with one very specfic skill. Designated hitter, Pinch hitter, pinch runner, bunter, 1 inning/1 batter relief pitcher, a catcher for a specific type of pitcher (Doug Mirabelli), etc. And then for pitchers as this post was about, you could make a career being incredible with one pitch (fastball, knuckleball, curveball. And you can throw all of those at MLB level with almost any height. Hence my point of why there should be pitchers from all over the world.
Out of the 4billion men on planet earth, 1 man has less than a .9% chance of becoming 1 of the 390 pitchers you mentioned. But, I get where you're coming from. It's not just about physical mechanics when it comes to being successful in baseball. The mental and genetic aspects play a big role too, as they determine an athlete's ability to stay focused on their goals. A lot of players have the physical skills, but it's the years of obsession at a young age, drive and mental discipline that sets them apart. "Potential" is just a fancy word for what you haven't achieved yet.
Great video! As a fellow 6’7 pitcher I have had some similar struggles. I loved how Frankie explained dropping and driving with the back leg. That’s something I’ve struggled with but I’ve started to get that feeling he’s describing.
My son is 6’3 and still growing. I guess 6’4 in cleats with a 6’7 wingspan. He has this same issue. Everyone saying throw over the top you’re so tall, use your levers etc. he’s struggling with mechanics because he’s still growing and it seems things are always off with no end in sight. He’s 16 but was just told his growth plates are wide open. How long does it take? Are you 6’7 in shoes? Doc said he will reach about 6’5.
Def ape index would play a roll, lower center mass wirh above average levers and release angle. Every little league coach to highschool coach needs to be watching this channel. There will be some nasty 5"7-5'9 pitchers coming up. Add in fast twitch dominant and boom. Im 5'8 and i crush a golf ball. Ive out driven ever person ive ever played with or against my whole life. Moon shots. Id get a crowd and every driving range when i was 16-30.
This is the best page for young ballplayers to learn to pitch the right way, for all shapes and sizes. These videos have helped me drastically as a coach for my players as well.
Recently I’ve realized how enormous of an impact genetics have on velo. I’m 21, 5’11 180lbs with the longest limbs ever, my wingspan is 6’6. My hip mobility is poor, I naturally just cannot lift my leg very high in my leg lift, naturally one of the smallest and weakest players, and I’m slightly knock kneed. I sit 73-76mph with a decent amount of training. There are 12 year olds who throw harder than me. It’s so frustrating, especially when I see guys who can hop on the mound and throw 90 first throw who don’t take the game seriously at all that just kills me.
as a 6'0 160 hs pitcher, I love hearing how Frankie does it. The eye test is so true, I remember my first practice in 6th grade the new head coach came by asking everyone's position. I always wanted to pitch so I said that I'm a pitcher. I remember he looked me dead in the eye and said "I decide who pitches." Got stuck in CF despite being a 3B but when he first let me pitch, people realised that was what I was best at (I threw like 67 which was gas for that age) But yeah, I train so much fast twitch and mobility that I'm starting to throw harder than people who have a few inches and 20 pounds on me. Mostly because of this channel tbh
@@lllllllllllllllII I ate a ton and got in the weight room as much as possible because like 8 months ago I weighed about 145 and found it very difficult to maintain above 150. I also do plyometrics and sprints with focus on moving fast but the biggest thing for me was doing mobility work. Mobility is huge and honestly made a huge difference. I went from throwing 75-80 my sophomore summer and immediately got up to 82ish by the start of fall
So if Craig could hit 94-95 with minimal back leg engagement (suboptimal mechanics) and wasn't meeting Tread strength standards by a fair margin, did he just have off the charts mobility to be able to throw that hard? And I'd think that mobility would allow his long levers to get a long range of motion to build up more force
Craig doesn't have the best mobility but he has long levers and his arm flipped up on time. He's not particularly fast but timed the rest of the delivery well enough to throw mid 90s.

Before I even watch this video. I will say and know that Frankie can throw a football better than most baseball players. 50+yds no warmup.. Easy. If pitchers stopped doing weighted ball programs and just threw the football... It's just too simple. Nolan Ryan 27 years in the bigs.. What did he do!? Football. Take it seriously it's not a joke
A guy like Lebron James would be the pitcher I'd make. 6'8 "freakishly fast twitched" excellent acceleration and very mobile. Not to mention, he weighs 265 and is strong.
I tell my guys think theyre a car. If we go 1st to 5th were going to blow the transmission. Think speed up to release. Then adjust speed from that point
Frankie is currently sitting low 90s and T94 in live ABs at Tread, in the past Frankie has sat 94 and T97 in games and is talking about how his body felt and what he was thinking of during that time. Just because you can’t top your all time PR currently doesn’t mean you can’t speak about your experience if you’ve done it before.
@@JohnSmith-cp4wh He did hit 97 there and he’s hit it elsewhere in bullpens. Also I can confirm the gun in the Doc’s backyard is not juiced. I might be one of the only people to have checked it myself.
Weight for taller people longer arms. You have to move that weight a lot further than shorter guy with shorter arms. Same with squats and deadlifts. Short guy does half the movement. Taller guy is doubling the distance same weight

Baseball is super expensive. You’re mistaken. Not only that it is far from an easy sport. Also the mechanics of pitching are not simple.
