      I was throwing 75 by bringing the arm in the completely wrong direction. (to the side and up) Wiithout turning in at all with the knee and doing the wrong arm action.
      Im throwing alot harder now, i haven't tested it on a radar yet, but i know now why my team took me even though i was below the average skill player then. It's been about a few days and i can confirm the mechanics matter a shit ton.
      Ive had to practice everyday for the past 6-8 months for 2-3 hours and that's without including research. Since I started late im having to bust ass to get caught up to the average player. It's working!
      These guys had to have been practicing like me to get to where they are. Respect+++

    Man. I threw 89 across the diamond in high school, but couldn’t even hit 75 on the mound. I have every single major mechanical issue you listed, but had no clue. Always makes me wonder what was on the table

    Ha player D is my 16yo son, 6’3 150lbs. Sits 73-74 mph. Had one tourney where ball was just hot out of his hand and you could for the first time hear the whoosh. Clocked 81mph. Had never and has not since touched that. Frustrating. Has traditionally had control issues so I think he holds back, but that day he came in relief and the team was getting killed, so he didn’t give a ...and cut loose.

    Hello good bless. Congrats on your program. Throwing the ball was the only thing I had a chance now I'm 45 I throw around 90 when I started watching you tube I combined pedro martinez huge fan we both from same country and same height 5.9 he's listed as 5.11 but no. I study walter jhonson and mariano rivera. Mostly pitchers under 6 inches I did it on my own mostly at home endless hours of balancing,squats,elastic band. From pedro the incredible balance and finishing the throw from the big train the separation and from mariano rivera the effortless way he deliver the baseball. Now at my age I use less force and better results that I cannot even explain how effortless it can be with the right mechanics. Also from your program learn allot. Good bless

    I don't feel like im the same pitcher when i pitch at home/ in game. I am working on mechanics to be consistent and feel right. I just joined tread athletics and i am starting to receive emails . This is great. I see alot of my problems in your lists of flaws and i felt like i was losing velo in game

    Any fairly athletic healthy male 5'9 and above should be able to max out around 90, yeah. I'm 5'10 and I was still kissing 90 when I was 30 until I hurt my shoulder. Mechanics just take practice. going from 70, what you could expect a normal person to throw, to 90 is like 90% mechanical and 10% muscular.

    So Im 18 and only played baseball from age 10-15, you’re telling me that since I’ve played for a while only throwing “fastballs” and learning good location and not really going to the gym ever, standing at 5’11, that i Can bring my 78-80 mph fastball to like 90-95 with better mechanics and training? If so that would give me so much motivation to keep throwing and start hitting the gym as well as start learning off speed pitches.

    Do you work with older men who are playing recreation leagues? I am 43 and I know there is velo in there somewhere. I have never had any formal pitching training ever.

    I'm watching this about to turn 30 wondering if I can get to a faster throw just for shits ang gigs hahaha. Pitched in middle school. However I've disc golfed since college and am still very capable with my throwing arm. I think I tried a pitching game at the fair and got 72 a couple times. Wonder if I could get to 80 if I worked at it. Ive always loved to throw things as hard as I can. I'm sure people can relate.

    I’m 12 and I’m 5’7” 145 pounds. I have no formal training but yesterday I hit 75. I usually sit around 70 and I’m really happy with that but I’ve been debating starting weight training. Do you think I’m old enough to weight train safely or should I wait a few more years?

    I threw all my life and was blessed with a lot of natural talent. I never took training seriously and didn’t train, aside from throwing as hard as possible all the time. I made it to being a college pitcher and tore my labrum in fall ball freshman year. I wanted to play for fun. Once it became work and wasn’t fun, I was done with it.

    I’m 5’6 135 5’10 wingspan 14 years old I sit 80-85 I feel like I have good mechanics but I can definitely improve my strength

      Congratulations if you throw 85 any day you'll 90 I guarantee make sure before the game or practice stay hydrated and take care your body as a temple do squats with no weight and rest the knee and don't rush. Good luck

    Hi I’m wondering how high my velocity ceiling would be because I started late in baseball at 13 but recently this past summer at 15 I hit 76-79 mph on flat ground im 5’6 148 lbs and I’m wondering if I’m on the right track?

    If I can get to 90 as a 45 year old man I’m going for it! I use to have good stuff but topped out at 86-88. I’m 5’10”. Never had an arm like Pedro to put it by people. I stopped pitching my freshman year of college to getting no looks due to my height. That use to be a thing back in the day.

    Hi, I am a 20 y/o 5'11" 180 lbs. small college ballplayer sitting low-mid 8s on my peak fastball. I really want to up my game. I am pretty strong in the weight room deadlifting around 430 lbs... and I can long toss to about 305-310 feet, and I don't think mobility is an issue. I can hit a baseball 95+ off the bat consistently, so I firmly believe the potential is there. What do you recommend to really get through this and throw harder??

    So I’m 16, 6’1, and 195-200lbs going into junior year… I pitch like 55-60 (no idea how accurate this number is because I haven’t used a radar yet) because I just started loving baseball not even 2 months ago but being a good pitcher is one of my passions right now, I just don’t know how to get there. I take it from this video I’m at a disadvantage because of my late start but my question is if I work hard enough over the next 2 years of my highschool career will I ever be able to pitch 90?

      There are a ton of variables at play in regards to genetic ceiling, as mentioned in the video, humeral retroversion is influenced early on in development and has its challenges later on in life to allow the arm to relax into layback.     How would you rank someone in terms of their genetic peak if they were 5’ 11” 145 and topping 89? Would I be near my ceiling or do you think I could access a lot more velocity through good training

      Anyone at 145 lbs is WAY away from their genetic ceiling. I would guess at least 4-7 mph left.

    Im 6 feet tall 130 pound at 17 I have trouble to gain weight but I threw 85 as a sophomore and I throw harder now that I’m a senior. Do I have potential to throw 90 or Im done ?

      You probably got potential to hit 95, couple things you got, main thing being your only 17, still a teenager, and not even a adult, which means your still growing, height wise you probably won’t grow, maybe another inch MAX, but in talking proportion, build, muscles wise, you haven’t even reached your physical peak. Also if you exercise and train even harder, and practice more, and work even more on technique, you can do 90+ for sure, gain like 20-50 pounds and you’ll be good.

    I'm 22, I'm 5"4, I'm skinny. I just started baseball (loved it but just never signed up as it's not a big thing in Australia). Am I ever gonna hit 90mph? Probably not. Am I going to hit 80mph? Maybe maybe not. But Now that I started playing I want to be able to throw as hard as I can for myself and have fun :). Never really properly measured but I know my top speed I think is around 65mph with 0 training 0 mechanics and no working out. Recently started working out, going to start learning how to throw properly so I wish hitting 70~75 will be possible soon. :)

    Former pro here! Better analogy then dunking would be punching power! Punches harder, Mike Tyson at 5’11 or Lennox Lewis at 6’5. Punching and pitching are similar in that it’s using all the kinetic energy in your body to create max hand speed! I have done 1,000 of lessons in my life. Yes most HS pitchers who continue to work into their 20s on pitching can probably come close to 90mph.

    I am 23yrs old, at July 25 is the first time that I tried baseball untrained, is it possible for me with proper training that in the future I can throw 85mph? I was throwing 62-63mph the first time and I am 6’1/196lbs which is in the range of MLB player built.

    I’m not particularly genetically gifted. I’m short (5’8”), can’t jump well and weighed 152lbs and threw 85mph and played a year of D1. I didn’t really train at all for throwing hard other than playing. In facts lot of the stuff trainers & coaches did back in the early 90”s was bad for you! Ultimately I had UCL issues because of the strain and lack of knowledge back then.

    I’m a 5’6 age 21 dude who has sits low 70’s at 128-131 lbs, I also workout consistently but i wouldn’t say I’m at my genetic peak of weight training at all. Is it reasonable for me to throw 90?

      It's always hard to make projections of 15-20 mph because that's so far off. When I was throwing low 70s I really had no idea what I would be capable of. Athletes who are very far from their genetic limit in the weight room generally have a LOT of velo that can be tapped into. It sound like that applies in your case. Goal weight at 5'6" is probably something like 160-180lbs. Check out the free downloads on our website to get started.

      I played LL with a kid who threw mid 70s. And he was the smallest kid on the team. Yet the fastest and just a good athlete. Sadly he disliked the game and never pursued it

      @@parkerbrault5407 well if you have bad mechanics in 2 months you could average 82-85 by fixing them. you arent done growing tho, so i would say learn your body. figure out how to move efficiently

      I was about the same size and velo at that age. By 18 I was 6’2 200 and 85-88 and then slimmed down to around 190 and throw 87-89. Throw hard and gain weight/strength.

    I can say. I playball all my life. I can remember ever since I was 8 years old. I had a laser for a arm as ever I could remember.every league I went to as I got older I was always way way above average to every other kid. So I can say for myself. In my case I was born with my arm. So my option is your born with that talent. Of course you can disagree but I can remember since I was 5 to 40 years old no one that new me would want to have a snowball fight with me unless they were on my team.

      There’s a lot of guys that are just born with insane talent. If you look at MLB players, plenty of them got most of their skill from genetics. I’m not discrediting their hard work or anything, but almost all of them were throwing over 90 in high school without touching weights. I know a scouting director who works in the Dominican Republic, and he says they get guys all the time down there that throw 95 and have never touched a set of weights in their life.

    I think you mean can "Everyone throw 90 mph?" not "anyone". We already know of an "anyone" who can throw 90 mph - any MLB pitcher.

    How big of a deal do you think muscle fiber makeup is? Someone with mostly type 1 vs someone with mostly type 2

      It definitely plays a role, although I think a bigger differentiator is likely the fascial system. Thomas Rohler, a top javelin thrower was studied and shown to have incredibly dense fascia in his shoulder from years of training. High jumpers have been studied and shown to have incredibly thick achilles' tendons. To your point though, genetics do play a big role in top end potential. You're probably looking at a 5-10 mph variance based on those factors.

    Here’s how it’s done-start young, (8 or 9) take lessons from pros, practice every day, using a 75/75 method. Arm care first, then 45-55 pitches at 75% effort at 75% distance focusing on mechanics, then 20-25 hard pitches, then arm care at the end of the session. Pitch count increases with age. Throw every day unless you are simply too sore. Never pitch in a game if you are hurt. Throw the 75%/75% method every day, even if you don’t pitch that day. Take a couple of days a week to do long toss. At the end of 8th grade, do not play fall ball, but do a long toss program 3 days a week, resting the other days. Do workouts beginning in the 7th grade to address core and strength, and do the high school workouts. Don’t take more than 3 weeks off a year, but continue 75/75. 8+ years of mechanics work with pro coaches will get you at 90-91 by late junior/senior year in high school.

      @Tony Stpierre I will never believe that a 12 year-old could throw in the 90's, period. I think that story has been stretched. Unless you can provide video of him on a radar gun, then I say it is simply a wild claim. As for 79 at 14, I know that is doable, because my own son was close to that, because we did have access to radar guns. My son is now at Spring Training.

      @Tony Stpierre Ok you can claim that all you want, but I don't buy it. I have heard of a very few who could throw in the 80's as a 12 year old, but those are extremely rare. I don't know why you think being offered to play for a private school is such a big deal. Did he play in college, and if so, where? Did he play pro ball? The most likely injuries a pitcher will endure would be rotator cuff injuries, labrum injuries, or torn UCLs. Your wrist really doesn't bear that much of the load when pitching. Again, if I don't see proof of a 12 year-old throwing in the 90's, I am not going to believe it.

      @Tony Stpierre If he threw 92 there would be some story in the paper on him. Do you have such a story? 92 at age 12 would be probably a world record. A 12 year old elite pitcher can throw in the low to mid 70's, but those are somewhat rare. What proof do you have? You have no proof. It's just a story that has grown and grown.

    Athlete A probably close to 10mph or more not only because he’s untrained but because of his BW compared to height.

    Please help me understand one thing , I am 33 played collegiate as a low to mid 80s lefty .. never worked out hard or pushed the body in the weight room .. mainly just went through motions at practice and threw pens … 5 10 1/2 .. was 170 then .. now I’m out of shape at 215 .. would it be possible to get back in shape and gain velo ?

      Scott Firth, one of our Perfromance Coaches, is throwing harder now at 31 than he did when he played at Clemson (now touching 99 mph). It's definitely possible.
