    University of Maine at Presque Isle(UMPI) has a psychology degree that could be completed in less than a year (transfer in tons of Sophia credits). SNHU (Southern New Hampshire Univesity has a BA,BS and MASTERS that you can complete in a year to 1 1/2 years. Liberty University also offers degrees (BA or BS) in Psychology, Counseling. With umpi you can take as many courses as you want within the structure of each 8 week term (one at a time in a semester) Oh, Penn State World Campus ALSO has a terrific Psych. degree but it is way more expensive. TESU is not that fast and I have read of a great of students having problems with Capella regarding tuition etc.

      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Рік тому +2

      Capella is owned by the same company that owns Sophia.org. I'd see if they'll accept 12 credits from Sophia. Having said that, I'm not a fan of Capella... The only reason I talk about them in this video is because they offer the only Self Paced Psychology Degree that I know of. For some reason, there just aren't many self paced options for Psych.
      Feel free to reach out and tell me more about your situation. Maybe there are other majors that will open the same doors, but can be done faster. I'm happy to give advice... (ryan@9monthgrad.com)

    Are there any setbacks to graduating with a BA or Master's in psychology at Capella? Does it affect job applications?

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Рік тому +2

      I'm a big fan of doing the employment research ahead of time. I'd look at potential jobs/companies you want to work for, and make sure the degree will open the doors. I don't love Capella, but they're one of 2 schools (that I know of) that have CBE based Master's programs in psych. Walden is the other.

      The cost of the degree will depend on how fast you graduate. If you find schools that charge per semester, instead of per credit... you're only required to pay tuition for the amount of time you're in school.

      I'm a much bigger fan of hitting the internet to learn the info... For example, for my Math classes I used UA-cam. The biggest thing is being able to know exactly what you need to learn to study for the exams. If you know exactly what you need to learn, you can skip the other 80% - 90% of the curriculum.
      I have full systems for how to do this. I teach how to do all of this inside my Degree Hacking Academy program. Here's a look if you're interested: www.DegreeHackingAcademy.com

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671

      I think there are definitely better schools that are faster.

    • @jyoz08
      @jyoz08 Рік тому +1

      @@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 SNHU will allow you to transfer up to 90 credits, you can bring in ACE recommended courses, Sophia, CLEP, etc. If you transfer 90 credits you can complete your BA in 10 months (5 academic terms) for less than $10,000. This is for their regular term-based programs which sounds like a better option than Capella. Mainly because Capella also does not allow students who start with FlexPath to bring in any additional credit after enrolling. SNHU will allow you to continue to bring in credit until you reach your 90 transfer credit limit. SNHU is also non-profit, whereas Capella is for-profit. If you are able to enroll in SNHU's competency-based degree options you will also save a ton of money, they typically price their terms similarly or lower than WGU. However, there are other schools that are even more transfer friendly like Excelsior U. Excelsior offers a BS in Psych that allows up to 113 transfer credits. Excelsior's tuition is higher but if a student completes courses with a partner (like Study.com) they can get up to a 20% tuition discount.

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Рік тому +1

      Yep, you're right. Lot's of people choose to earn credits through 3rd party services then transfer. And sometimes that's a great strategy. I prefer testing out of classes through Universities instead of 3rd party. I'm not a huge fan of SNHU or Capella. I do really like WGU though. And their 6 month semesters are pretty awesome as well.

    • @jyoz08
      @jyoz08 Рік тому +1

      @@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 If you do SNHU's competency-based programs you will be able to do the same as WGU or UMPI. Instead of proctored tests though, SNHU usually does projects to test your competency for each section (no need to transfer credit in). Big downside is that enrollment in these programs is limited to certain geographic areas through community partners. I wish these programs had more offerings. I'm really intrigued in WGU but they don't seem to have some of the programs I'm looking into.

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Рік тому +1

      Unfortunately, SNHU has paused all of their CBE programs. They are currently making changes to the structure of those programs. And they aren't giving much more info for that. There's no timeline either.

      Capella is the only school I know of with a Competency Based Psych program... But there are some others that will allow you to hack about 3 years worth of credits through 3rd party exams, then transfer in. Possibly Excelsior College, Thomas Edison, Liberty, SNHU.

    Hello Ryan
    I am a European final year student in my Bachelor of Science in Electromechanical Engineering. I would like to get a master's degree afterwards. Also in engineering with a preference for something energy related like energy engineering, by this I don't mean energy as in electrical power or power electronics but rather renewable energy systems. I have been looking for a while to an online program with a reasonable tution fee and duration. Do you maybe know where there are any possibilities to do this kind of program?
