Oh yeah
You always singed greatly but in this particular song we can see how much your singing has grown better over ther years. You're The next Tarja 😬 not, your The next Violet 🙏🖤
After much peer review I have concluded that this song is a Gem.
I have also studied this sample and have concluded in my findings that your theory is correct
After listening a second , i've deduced that this indeed a metal.
Missed opportunity to entitled it Gothyec version

When you want to get over a relationship but you are too much of a metalhead to listen to pop breakup songs:
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH
Tbh, I think we need more metal songs that are about breaking up. It's just perfect for it, but never really got much love from the public.

Okay so now there's like four different versions of this song that I like.
There's a great bardcore version, there's the original, there's the Walk Off The Earth cover. Are they the ones you were thinking of, or is there another version out there that you'd recommend?
@@Stormy177 three days grace. The Bardcore one and the star wars one were the three I was thinking.
Erock's version is worth a listen

Yessss
exactly, I want MORE
While true, in general, I think we just need more Violet in general
This sounds scarily like Ghost mixed with Sentenced. You guys killed it.
yes :D
This sounds like a Ghost version. I can hear Year Zero and Cirice.
There are definetely some Infestissumam Album Vibes here!

Unlike a ghost version, this sounds amazing!

This is... awesome
I should have watched this one first then the Hotel California cover. I feel like that order tells one hell of a story. Amazing job to you both.
The first verse actually sounds a lot like Tool.
Great cover, as always!
I started the song, scrolled down, saw this, and immediately agreed
glad I'm not the only one who felt that!
It's almost the exact sound Tool has
I came in expecting the vocals to be the showpiece, and they're good, but there's also some surprisingly killer instrumentals here.
Yes the re instrumentation is gorgeous
Oh wow... it's dark and hypnotizing at the same time. Both song and video. Good job, Bros and Violet!
Plan: Trusted
West: Fallen
Billions: Used to Know
I can't get over how cool Violet sounds in the background of the verse before she does chorus with Melodicka dude... the musical components of this rendition are way too cool guys. When Violent does the second?? verse mostly it's literally so wicked chilling down my spine.
Lest go Brandon
Violet Orlandi has such a cool voice. Love your work, keep the good spirit up!

Starkly, ominously beautiful, visually, vocally, and instrumentally. I found myself genuinely unsettled & wishing for the comfort of those little flashes of humor you usually include!
Lacuna Coil couldn't have done this better.
Excellent work!

Very dark brooding cover, great guitaring, beautiful vocals especially from violet's side, the humming was beautifully done. This and Hotel California is one of your best collaborations ever! You guys kill it every time you work together.
A toast 🥂 for this true gemerald!
This genre fits this song so well! Absolutely amazing!
Your version really brings out the anger this song implies. Right as the breakup is happening. Beautiful.
Ultra Violet and the Dark Techno Bros!
It’s like the darkest of heaven, love you all!
This song is now our death march ❤️
Amazing! Please do more duets with Violet Orlandi, it's always wonderful!
This is such an accurate 2000s gothic metal stylization I've almost cried.
Millions must know someone that they used to know, billions even!
Such a great version of this song, although i got distracted half way through when realising this songs main riff is Baba Black Sheep.
I know right. I twigged it, now I cant unhear it.
Love the transition, was waiting patiently for when Violet would come and shake us with her voice, then she slowly came in with the build up by starting with the back vocals, when finally she went all in half way the song. Exquisite duo
I listen to a lot of metal bands and I always had a soft spot for female and male vocals together. But then I heard you both together and my mind was blone away ♥️🤘you both should do more tracks together 🤘🤘😍🤘

I love how Violet Orlandi turned into Amy Lee for Kimbra's part
The number of songs that can be improved or given an emotional twist by a metal cover is staggering.
I've gotta say, it's clear how far you've all come in such a short time; the audio quality here is *chefs kiss* delightful!
Man, I’m confinated due COVID and this video just made me feel a little bit better… well, I’m actually crying. Thank you so much, buddies
My Sunday got a whole lot better. Thanks guys! Thanks Violet.
I love how you guys do small changes to the melodies of your songs that you really keep the integrity of the song but make it what you want it to be
I just realized, some of those blurs give the effect of looking through tears 😢
The song itself is very good because no one can be considered the bad person and have their own issue with the relationship so people can relate on either side. Also you guys killed it lol.
LYRICS:
Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember
You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end
Always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
And I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know...
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
You didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
I used to know
That I used to know
Somebody...
her voice gives me chills during the verse parts...
this is incredible
Just love it when these three get together...
it feels like there are a lot of talented people on yt and that they love to do things together. Ans that's fucking great
That guitar tone is fantastic
Finally a version of this song I am actually able listening to.
...well.
The Ingrid Michelson version is great.
indeed
To be fair, the original was a pretty good song nonetheless.
Yo Violets solo part actually gave me serious goosebumps! Seriously awesome.Stuff like that doesn't usually get me like that. It sounded personal af!
Forget the original song I am in love with this new cover you two killed it!!!!!
Mad respect, guys, brilliant cover, love how it fits the new style!!
Now I want to hear the funeral doom or sympho-black metal version combining harsh vocals or growling with clean opera vocals, would be so cool as well, I imagine =)
I know it's just my sick mind but somehow I can imagine this like Mudwayne-Dig style. It'd be brutal.
Violet brought me here. Y'all are awesome. Definitely subbing.
Yep, her tone is very very similar.
Needs some schizo-posting alternate history, but one that makes Warhammer 40K look like Harry Potter.
"Jesse, what?"
"Like, we need some yt video heavily edited with this song in background while we show imagery of schizo post alt history with-"

Im quite hard to impress with covers, but this is another level - FREAKING AMAZING!!
is it just me or WE NEED a super collab song between Violet Orlandi, Melodicka Bros, Lauren Babic, Halocene, Jonathan Young and First to Eleven?
And Anthony Vincent
The world is still not prepared for this, that's why we don't have this gold yet.

I think this song was always meant to be performed in gothic metal :D this is the right version, I love it!
Everyone thought this song was overdone, for years now. Little did we know: this is the cover we needed!
the improv & musical rendition of this version is so cool. ty so much! You're all awesome!
Idk why, but the guitar work here sounds so much like Tool to me. But this cover sounds amazing!!!!
EDIT: The beginning guitar sounded like Tool to me. It changed obviously.
@@grandmatrain1352 So I'm not crazy. I knew I heard Tool in the riff a little. And honestly, I haven't heard the original version of the song since its big wave of overplay on the radio.

Violet´s amazing voice
Q predicted this gem 💎
Watching someone perform while they're backlit in front of a deep dark red backdrop is decidedly unsettling, but when it's Violet Orlandi... Whew! Creepy...
getting heavy Vicarious by Tool vibes with the guitar.
These gothic covers are just amazing, I need more from you guys and Violet
Brilliant as always. Can't really call it a cover though - it's a total reworking - which is a good thing. Pretty much all of Violet's "covers" aren't; which is what sets her (and the artists she works with) apart from other (also talented) cover artists.
I noticed that too about her. She makes them her own.
Just curious but why do you think changing the style up stops it being a cover. The words are the same, the tune is the same.
@@DarthAxolotl If you pay attention to the chords, there are some weird and unsettling intervals there, courtesy of Melodicka Bros. This gives a very different vibe to the meaning of the words.
The words are the same, the tune is almost the same, but a bit uncanny, and if you watch the video closely, you will see that this song is about a murder. The original is about a breakup.
There are some very subtle differences that are woven into the fabric of the song that alter its core.
Granted, that's my interpretation, but based on the pinned comment, I think my interpretation is close to the intended effect by the artists.
@@vedranb87 but why does that stop it being a cover. All be it a very creative one
Now the Gotye can be considered a classic -- Melodicka Bros has covered it.
