What a performer he was - A uniquely brilliant talent - I'd love to go back 30 years to when the music was so much better

We in Australia made this song number one first and then 27 other countries followed. A great song, a great entertainer, a great voice and a huge loss. I discovered meatloaf back in 78' when Bat 1 came out. I have every studio album, every live album and 23 supplementary albums. Still can't believe he is gone.

I was at a shopping centre in Melbourne when I first heard the first album. I said to myself. I've got to get that record. And I did. Still have it. It was the music apart from znything else.

I was watching "Hey Hey It's Saturday" one night in 1993. I was 14 at the time. I'd heard of Meat Loaf and maybe listened to about 5-10 seconds of "Bat Out Of Hell" whenever you might see a brief snippet of that song featured on a tv show, etc. I remember thinking that it sounded okay...but obviously you really need to listen to the WHOLE thing to really appreciate it.
Anyway, I can't remember if it was Daryl or Molly, but one of the two was talking about Bat out of Hell 2 and the lead single "I'd Do Anything for Love". They said they were going to play the whole music video on the show. Now I wasn't a Meat Loaf fan...yet...but I figure, "hey, that Bat out of Hell" song of his sounds kind of okay, from what I've heard, so I won't switch channels. I'll stay and give this one a listen.
6 minutes later after the whole music video had finished, and I was absolutely stunned! If that wasn't the coolest thing I'd ever experienced in my life then I don't know what was! The majestic rock opera featuring Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf at the top of their game...the glorious music video combining elements of Beauty and the Beast, Dracula, and Phantom of the Opera...where had Meat Loaf BEEN all my life?!?! I remember I managed to tape the music video off of "Rage" early in the morning some time later and re-watched it over and over so many God damn times!
And guess what, I STILL come back to it (and Meat and Jim's other work) regularly 31 years later! Although now it's even better because you can get all these cool concert bootleg videos on UA-cam as well. Meat Loaf and Karla DeVito or Patti Russo's antics on stage are ALWAYS a highlight!
