This is a triple ocarina. There are three holes in the mouthpiece because there are several chambers inside the ocarina. Most ocarinas have one chamber, and one hole. You blow through the hole, with your lips sealed on it, and make "du" movements with your tongue to start the notes (not that you have to). You can also slide notes by rolling your finger over the note holes, rather than treating it like an on-off switch.
This is such an amazing cover. Their poetry is truly embodied in the rich sounds of such a beautiful ocarina. The craftsmanship of both the ocarina and the playing of the ocarina is perfect. The sound is limited yet still conveys the every emotion packed lyric of S & G. I have considered buying an ocarina but this specific model is the only one that appeals to me and it is FAR too expensive for a poor college student. Maybe one day I'll find one at a garage sale...(that's not likely :
Gorgeous tone - I dislike higher pitched wind instruments but low tenor and bass tones really can sound lovely ... but it's a real wallet-breaker when you check the cost!
I know I'll never develop my own talent if I just keep watching everyone else shoot for the stars, but man -- there's some good stuff out there to see!
What are you doing with your mouth? You move your lips so that it touches only half of the ocarina and then you place it back at the center. I just got an ocarina as a gift. Is the sound less/more distinctive depending how far you cover the whistle area? Do you blow with more force to produce the higher notes or is it a steady release of air for every note? I'd appreciate it if you could explain.
I love this song. And by the way, STL means St. Louis for anyone who was wandering ( I've been there, and thought it was pretty. I especially loved the arch and The City Museum.)
@FatBowlsForBreakfast Me again, the character limit didn't let me finish! I was saying: Thanks for uploading and sharing your videos with us. I Favorited this video and subscribed in hopes of more STL Triple Bass Ocarina covers. If I can't play the ocarina I can at least listen to it thanks to you.
@FatBowlsForBreakfast Just for your information: Neither the lyrics nor the melody of Scarborough Fair was written by SImon and Garfunkel. It's actually an old traditional song, that was made pretty popular by S & G. I don't have anything against S & G, I actually like their music and their interpretation, but I think it's important to know, that one of their most popular songs actually wasn't completely composed by them (which is nothing bad).
Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine Tell her to make me a cambric shirt On the side of a hill, in the deep forest green Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground Without no seams nor needlework Blankets and bedclothes, the child of the mountain Then she'll be a true love of mine Sleeps unaware of the clarion call Tell her to find me an acre of land On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Washes the grave with silvery tears Between the saltwater and the sea strands A soldier cleans and polishes a gun Then she'll be a true love of mine Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather War bellows, blazing in scarlet battalions Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Generals order their soldiers to kill And gather it all in a bunch of heather And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten Then she'll be a true love of mine See upcoming rock shows Get tickets for your favorite artists Are you going to Scarborough Fair? I have a simple 12 hole Ocarina, think its a "C" - Ocarina. I searched and found a sheet for that song, beginning with E. But it sounds something weired. So do i need an other ocarina or may be other sheet notes?
nice sound to that large ocarina. by the way, would you perhaps consider playing "the sunlit earth" or possibly another song from shadow of the colossus or ico?

I never imagined this song on ocarina, but it's perfect!
One of my all time favourite folk songs, and on the bass ocarina it sounds great! Thanks so much!
I love how it has so much feeling with so little adornment. Sometimes less really is more. Great job.

That ocarina cost 700$ btw.
better not drop it
Yuri Goddess ou l'acheter en plastique
Worth it
YUKI YUKIYUKI ow
Esperanta Flago, i doubt that they even sell plastic ocarinas over the price of a few hundred bucks. but that’d do the trick

Just get a shakuhatchi flute

Drop a guitar and it might be shattered too. Instruments are not meant to drop ;)

Sounds like something out the original Wild Arms. I love it. Great job.
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Wonderful ! Thank you for sharing this.
@MrFair Thanks for that info, I wasn't aware of that!
They were folk musicians though, so it doesn't surprise me that they covered a lot of classics.
Beautiful! I sure wish that I wasn't currently having difficulties with my own triple bass. :( I want to make videos such as this!
This is awesome.
amazing! i look forward to many more pieces that you do. great talent!
This is INCREDIBLE!
I usually do not comment on videos, but this is probably the best I've seen so far. Kudos! :-)

You have got soooo cool cosplays and ocarinas
I just had to listen to this since I'm from Scarborough :D
It sounds amazing ^_^
That is totally awesome!!!!!!!
Who knew you could play such beautiful music on a sheep's liver? ;)
Very nice. An ocarina with that big of a range can really help!
Omg that is one beautiful sounding Ocarina, Such a deep tone! (yeah no shit, it is a bass after all)
I hail from Wakefield, which is just a short drive from Scarborough itself! So I've sort of grown up with this song, and you play it very well.

@kyukenonythegreatest thats a tibetan mantra. very soothing.

nice sound to that large ocarina.
by the way, would you perhaps consider playing "the sunlit earth" or possibly another song from shadow of the colossus or ico?
Call me slow on the uptake - but where did that RING come from?? Are congratulations in order? This must be new.
Great job, as always! :D keep it going!
Dang that ocarina is gigantic!
@Baulan i agree big time
Very nice ! Where does this instrument come from originally ???
subscribed! :). Your videos are awesome!
❤❤❤❤❤
The website says this instrument is made of clay. Would it shatter if dropped?
Wow that was awesome I could totally see you on stage with Simon and Garfunkel...
You should do some interviews about your interest in the ocarina.
Would you mind telling me how long it took you to be proficient with the ocarina?
8 years
One must play it for 4 score and 7 years before they can truly begin to master this wonderful instrument
You really love your Ocarinas I can feel it. I really would like to her Amazing Grace an Greensleeves from you. Keep your spirit up.
Wow! You can play more notes on this. I currently play a western Indian 5 hole prayer flute. This vid was great! The music beautiful.
insane !!!
Are you going to play that ocarina at Scarborough fair?
This song reminds me of my childhood.
amazing
My orchestra played this song! I play bass, it was a very fun song :)
How do you get those piano sounds out of it?
I have been looking for a bass Ocerina that is within 100 dollars but your site only has 2 types for 200
ไม่เคยเห็นจริงๆ ชื่อเครื่องดนตรีอะไรนี่ เสียงเพราะดีค่ะ
yes
Dang, too bad it's so expensive, my four hole alto is okay but it only has one octave and I'd like to try a bass ocarina sometime.
wunderfull
I want one now...
GREAT
beautiful sound! I really want a bass ocarina, but they are so expensive. :(
That's a big ocarina!
i love it :)
Thanks! :]
Mine sounds like a recorder is it bad or am I bad?
Both probably
😍🎶
Great!
wow...thats was amazing, i can play this on piano but i think you play it more beautifily on an ocarina ^^
More like this ! :o ♡♡♡♡
it's funny that you're doing this, 'cause I just learned how to play this song on my five hole english pendant yesterday, it's a bit spooky...
It is easy to play most instruments. It takes dedication to master one.
im hopefuly going to get the zelda ocarina the ocarina
Music name??
What song is this i think ive heard it from some movie
Arkeneum Noah pretty sure it's an old folk song but Simon and Garfunkle have probably the most popular version that I am aware of.
Santiano - Garten Eden ist das
this makes me actually want to learn the instrument
wow
"She once was a true love o' mine" =)
Is there a particular reason a simple "yes" isn't good enough?
Pour un instrument très doux comme l'ocarina, la basse accentue encore la douceur.
I bet I'm not the only one who clicked thumbs up before they watched it! lol
woah
Best
🎼🎵🎶💞👌👍👏🎶🎵🎼
O MY GAWD! THIS IS TRINE 2 SONG!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG
More 16x9.

When you play wind instrument, you can't show much emotion without messing up the tone.
