Food addiction should be recognized. The physiology behind it should also be recognized.

Do you have books you recommend on food addiction?
Do you have suggestions on what to do or labs to get if my recent fasting insulin level is 6 and BG is 80-90? My cravings for carbs are insane!! But I am working on committing to at least 30 days of carnivore.
    Thank you.

Curious about intermittent fasting as a metabolic tool if you have hypoglycaemia?

For the scenario of reactive hypoglycemia from insulin resistance (when intermittent fasting might be desired to improve insulin sensitivity), the best strategy is to first work to improve metabolic flexibility (with strategies I discuss in my new metabolism book) and only then attempt gentle intermittent fasting. Thus, hopefully avoiding the episodes of low blood sugar that could occur with fasting in the metabolically inflexible state.

My book (Metabolism Repair for Women, coming on May 28th) explains why it's important to look beyond glucose readings and test for insulin resistance. Because insulin resistance can be the cause of abnormally high hunger, baseline higher glucose, plus a tendency to episodes of low blood sugar.
