I'm surprised Linus didn't mention how restrictive to airflow the glass front panel is. That kind of stuff cooks your processor.
He did mention that the front fans intake air through unfiltered side vents. Side vents are a pretty common feature on a lot of nice atx cases, and having filtered vents is even more restrictive to airflow but will not necessarily cause components to overheat. Its probably not true that true that the processor is getting cooked on the system in the video because he made no mention of thermal throttling in any of the tests.
Yea i used to have a case nearly identical to that walmart one - looks nice but my GPU was literally cooking inside there. Got a lian li airflow case and my CPU/GPU sit in the mid 50s-60s now. Granted it does need a clean, though.....

Most def I would not purchase a Gaming PC from Walmart! lol
You must not be familiar with Dell business practices from the late 90s and early 2000s. All integrators have done this for decades because on paper the machine specs look good but the unlisted components are generally garbage.
As an example, I was at a staples and asked what the speed of the RAM in a particular system was. The guy said "says right here it's 16GB DDR4"...
That's all they put on the spec list. They don't tell you because it might be single stick, single channel 2400MHz going into your Zen 2 system instead of the appropriate 3200MHz+ dual channels kits on the QVL for the motherboard, if those bargain basement motherboards even have a QVL.

Not forget, they installed it, just did a really sloppy job, they hot glued the USB 3 header but didn't click the GPU power cables in properly. No dust filter in a pc most buyers will never even open
Dane Berryman clearly doesn’t understand the purpose of a dust filter.....
@@bI5NISMO Nope, he is right. Dust filters are there to ease maintenance, not to replace it.
Obviously the best solution is air filters + regular maintenance.
The filters are faster to clean, but also clog way faster.
Which means no air flow and more heat if not cleaned- way before the actual components are clogged.
I mean, its' common sense (no offense, genuinely) that a blocked filter won't act as efficient as a clean one, though generally they still offer airflow around the center where the fan is.
However, depending on your house/office, you could leave a PC for a couple years and not touch it and you might have no problems, nor notice a thing, because the dust filter is doing it's job. It won't be as efficient and those who pay close attention to temperatures etc will see the difference.
I don't know about that, this is the second walmart machine where the graphics card not attached lol They'll be opening it up first day :D
Even with dust filters I feel I have to clean at least twice a year (although it doesn't show in temp). The really fine (talk powder like) stuff still gets in a bit.

looking back at these I'm so glad I waited until now to finally get a gaming pc. found affordable deals for a 3080 build, a 4k IPS HDR full gsync flag ship asus rog monitor and a 2k gsync rog side monitor. runs games at 4k with DLSS at 144 fps. MW2 runs a smooth 100 at 4k ultra. My brother was running a 1070 up until about the same time as I got my 3080. not impressed with this 1080p stuff. amazing how far graphics cards have come in just 5 years. the price I paid was probably have of the price everyone is trying to sell identical models of everything.
Internal Conversation At Walmart Meeting:
Hey, should we spend more on a 3.0 USB and a better PSU
Nah, let’s just spend shit on RGB, it looks cool with the smoke that will come out of the PSU.
Because customers won't ask "Does this come with a reliable PSU?" but instead will ask "Does this have RGB?"
Lol..
@@ayyssassin "Reliable PSU" my foot, I'd rather have a smoke machine in my PC!
u dumb dumb. It's not any smoke, it's RGB smoke!
Right, the builders did a decent job, but the design team has dropped the ball in almost every aspect.
I mean if they can run Bookworm Adventures Deluxe it doesn't really matter.
Beef Stew KNACK II BABYYYYY
This isn’t dunkey.
Hey beef stew is Linus giving away 1k copies of bookworm adventures?
I really like the fact that you are literally ubiquitous...

haha Bitwit and Linus both had unplugged GPU's
Edit: Jesus, first time I had more than 100 likes on a comment Thanks people :)
Yeh I was gonna say that
Me too
I am guessing that was intended, because the cable managment on other pc side is really good, if you learn how to manage cables that well than i don't see how can you forget to plug in pci-e in 2 PC's
@@eross5420 Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. Worried about static in transit... maybe? And the issues here are familiar to anyone who's worked in the design/engineering dept of a large firm. You have competent people, but you're often absolutely just hobbled by external or bureaucratic considerations - like "no, 1 x 16GB is $0.05c cheaper than 2 x 8GB, and it's the same capacity anyway!" or "This is a 500W PSU, why get a more expensive 450W one?"
Bitwit has the same problem with this walmart garbage!.... (at 6:20min)

A billion dollar company makes their engineers cut corners
And that's how you get a billion dollars .
Have you ever noticed how a car dealership has a bunch of areas to work on cars, its cause they cut corners and use plastic and aluminum and charge you for stuff like its solid gold, same as seen here, looks ok and starts fine, a month later its falling apart

Guys, it's what most people want. That's why Walmart has been so successful and profitable. It gave the people want they want - lower princes and time-saving convince. If people valued quality more there would be more quality and higher prices to reflect that. You don't get rich by simply selling shoddy merchandise, you get rich by figuring out and giving people the level of quality and cost they want. And it's not easy.
Try 338 billion dollar company
Hmm 🤔, where have I seen this before
23th year, still having no rgb or even lights in pc and can play on high all games
another example of why no matter how good the deal looks/seems I just don't recommend pre-builts period. You're going to have to be in the 2K+ range to get a pre-built that doesn't have at least 3 of the following: Extremely low-budget no-shroud RAM, extremely feature-lacking bargain bin motherboard, functionality sacrificed for RGB/aesthetics, the cheapest GPU that they can possibly get (what GPU doesn't come with a backplate these days?), gray unpainted sketchy power supply, mediocre storage devices.
I love how mad Linus got when he discovered the hard drive had been split into 4 partitions
"Maybe it's for organizing files?"
"ITS CALLED A FOLDER!"
yeah... and... that... ua-cam.com/video/AeUM4kR67XQ/v-deo.html
and this : ua-cam.com/video/toLYV7th0L8/v-deo.html
so yeah, I partition my hard drives... Both for ease of file organization and for performance optimization of the type of file I want to read... I mean... a 4k movie ain't gonna be fun to watch if it's fragmented all over the hard drive and on the slowest parts, right?
@@sirmyself I wouldn't know, I haven't used a hard drive in over 5 years
@@sirmyself right, that's why I use an SSD.

rgb is like the old turbo button on a 90s pc.
But when I hit the turbo button, not only did it do something, it made Worms unplayable because the game was tied to the clock speed in a way that responsible coders shouldn't do. I miss that.
The turbo button on old PCs made them run at lower clock speeds
turbo button actually did something zoomer
Turbo buttons had an important purpose - though sometimes systems were built using cases with turbo buttons but which didn't utilize it.
When 286 was king, games were written for the clock speed specifically. When 486s were released, games played on it would run far too fast. The name "turbo button" was of course a marketing gimmick, but it's one that made sense. Putting a "slow mode" button on there would sound ridiculous to most consumers.
Didn’t even mention the brilliant graphic design choice of a pufferfish randomly on the name graphic on the box
I love how in the thumbnail you can see the reflection of Linus in the kitchen with the computers 😂🤣🤣🤣
Whoever built these systems must have learned from The Verge.
