Timor-Leste Peace Run 2023

The Peace Run in Timor-Leste took place from February 6 - 10, 2023 at the invitation of H.E. Aniceto Lopes, the President of the Parliament and included a high-level launch at the National Parliament.
Working with Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Mr Armindo Maia and his department we visited to 13 schools, eight in Ermera and Liquica districts as well as four in the capital Dili. An estimated 8,500 students participated over the course of four days.
We met with Timor-Leste President and Nobel Peace Prize recipient H.E. José Manuel Ramos-Horta at the Presidential Palace. The President joined us for a ceremony with students representing four nearby schools in the gardens of the palace.
A 5 km Peace Run/Walk through Dili, the capital, was organized for the community finishing at the Department of Youth and Sport compound.
On our final day we were hosted by the United Nations Resident Coordinator Funmi Balogun at the UN compound to offer a presentation to more than 70 staff members. The UN compound is home to sixteen UN agencies.
