  • In 2015, the Oceanic Institute of Hawaii Pacific University and the Rising Tide Conservation project were able to successfully breed the Yellow Tang. This was a HUGE deal in the aquaculture world as breeding attempts for many other species of surgeonfish had sadly failed.

    I am bummed I bought 5 Aquaculture Baby Yellow Tanks and unfortunately they all died in my QT

      @@Aquapparel I have had my 10 gallon qt running for 8 months and the last wish that went through it was over 4 months ago. I use a sponge filter and water changes.

      Hmmm it may have been too small. Tangs are huge nitrate producers. Were you able to get a test of the water parameters the day that they passed?

      I’ve bought two yellow tangs from biota recently. Both perished within a month of owning them. One about 6 months ago, another yesterday. Both died with full bellies ; always eating. Possibly infection I didn’t know about from biota farms? My nitrates are near 0 ….

      @@watupkidd1 in my study and everything I've seen from scholarly articles, it seems that they are raised too sterile. They need to get a correct gut biome off the natural reef to have a better success rate. I'd say keep trying, personally
