The song is so good because it parallels to Why and shows the another perspective of Doomsday, of hurt and vengeance. The reason the Dream SMP story can be so effective is because of the ability to have different perspectives that are all, in their own way, right.

I did, and while I’m pretty sure it’s referring to Phil spending nearly the entire battle with a high vantage point, it could honestly refer to Dream too

“Betrayal breeds revenge” and isn’t that just true for so much of the smp.
Schlatt betrayed Wilbur during the election, and Wilbur repayed him by planting tnt under his nation, which he eventually lit. It’s also key to note Wilbur’s spiral was partly fueled by Eret’s past betrayal.
Techno felt betrayed by pogtopia on November 16th, which lead to him attacking L’manberg with withers.
Techno’s ‘betrayal’ on the 16th was what pushed Quackity to form the butcher army to get revenge.
Tommy betraying Techno only added to Techno’s want to destroy L’manberg, and Tommy’s betrayal was partly because of Tommy feeling betrayed by Techno multiple times.
Betrayal is truly one of the main driving forces of the plot.
Edit: Oh and Wilbur’s betrayal on the sixteenth lead to some of the events of Tubbo’s administration (also edit for a bit of clarification I forgot)

Definitely! Trust and betrayal play such crucial roles in the lore- totally agree with the ones you listed, but would also like to add on with Tommy’s exile
Tubbo is his best friend, someone he trusts above everyone else, and Tubbo putting the country over him was seen as a betrayal, even if Dream was the one pressuring the outcome. Additionally, Dream manipulating him to thinking he was a ‘friend’ was working off of how Tommy believed that everyone left him and he couldn’t trust anyone
You should add Wilbur making Phil kill him because he betrayed his country, which is why Phil wanted to destroy lmanburg.
Don’t forget that Tommy betrayed Techno because he felt like he was betraying his friends and L’manberg betraying Phil’s kindness and his rights, and betraying their promise to give Techno a fair trial, then fundy betrayed L’manberg by blowing up their supplies and niki betrayed them by burning down the l’mantree, and even Punz betraying Dream by leading everyone to his secret bunker
So youre telling me c!Dream just want to watch the world burn?

This song made me realize how fucking intimidating phil, dream, and techno together is. Like, they're just three people! And yet they had managed to throw a nation into ruin through sheer power.
Imagine if dsmp was more realistic, and let's say L'manburg has more than 10 people in a country. Armies of people getting utterly devastated, TNT raining from sky, dozens of withers wrecking the city and turning it inside out, and at the top, three people watching the chaos unfold with no remorse written in their eyes. All because of the mistakes of their country's leaders against them (except dream he had no right to do that but that's fine cuz he looked good doing that). It's literally their doomsday.

To add to this idea, Crows are carrion/scavenger birds. Meaning that every soldier that fell in combat would be eaten by the swirling mass of crows following the Angel of Death
I mean- Phil is the master of survival, dream is a beast when it comes to pvp and cunning plans, Techno is in the top 3 of greatest pvpers and the man allways has bottomless pockets when it comes to resources.

I love how the song is written with a perspective in mind; there isn’t an unbiased, factual view of Doomsday here, which gives it its emotion. This one is clearly in Techno’s POV, what with the mentions of betrayal and friendship. I’ve noticed perspective is a common theme in a lot of your Dream SMP songs, which I really like! 😊

I love how Techno has an axe, the very thing the Butcher Army decided to use to fight him with. Dream has TNT showing how powerful and psycho he is. Philza just has a sword, being the most "normal" Although his wings make up for the "normal" weapon.
Just my stupid analysis on the art.
I love the incorporation of a WW1 air raid siren and the sound of a clock ticking down until hell will rain from above in the background music, really makes you feel the direness of the situation for the L'manbergian troops below knowing that it was all going to be futile in the end but still dying for the nation they so desperately love, it's sickening
“MY L’MANBURG PHIL! MY UNFINISHED SYMPHONY, FOREVER UNFINISHED!”
Brownies
2½ sticks (1¼ cups) unsalted butter, plus more, softened, for greasing
8 ounces good-quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate (60-70% cacao), roughly chopped
¾ cup unsweetened Dutch process cocoa powder, divided
1 tablespoon espresso powder
2 cups granulated sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons kosher salt
6 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Optional: 🍃🍃
1. Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9x13-inch dark metal pan with softened butter, then line with parchment paper, leaving overhang on all sides. Grease the parchment with softened butter.
2. Combine the chopped chocolate, ¼ cup of cocoa powder, and espresso powder in a heatproof liquid measuring cup or medium bowl and set aside.
3. Add the butter to a small saucepan over medium heat and cook until the butter just comes to a vigorous simmer, about 5 minutes, swirling the pan occasionally. Immediately pour the hot butter over the chocolate mixture and let sit for 2 minutes. Whisk until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted, then set aside.
4. Combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and eggs in a large bowl. Beat with an electric hand mixer on high speed until light and fluffy, about 10 minutes. It will be similar to the texture of very thick pancake batter.
5. With the mixer on, pour in the slightly cooled chocolate and butter mixture and blend until smooth.
6. Sift in the flour and remaining ½ cup of cocoa powder and use a rubber spatula to gently fold until just combined.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake until lightly puffed on top, about 20 minutes.
8. Remove the baking pan from the oven using oven mitts or kitchen towels, then lightly drop the pan on a flat surface 1-2 times until the brownies deflate slightly. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
9. Return the pan to the oven and bake until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of the brownies comes out fudgy but the edges look cooked through, about 20 minutes more. The center of the brownies will seem under-baked, but the brownies will continue to set as they cool.
10. Set the brownies on a cooling rack and cool completely in the pan.
11. Use the parchment paper to lift the cooled brownies out of the pan. Cut into 24 bars and serve immediately.
12. Enjoy.

Likely when me and the other chat members of Techno’s chat were screaming blood for the blood god in front of the screen,
A whispering voice invading your mind
I like to think it’s Ranboo, as the “voice” is a singular, which can show that Dream is manipulating him to be a traitor.
You’re stuck in the web, caught in the lie
The web is likely a reference to the massive obsidian grid/web that was atop L’Manburg. Caught in the lie likely is a ref to the entirety of L’Manburg, which was kind-of a huge lie that Wilbur set up to unite his friends.
Edit: also Techno doesn’t get controlled by us. He just listens to our suggestions, maybe follows a couple, and grab our cash from our superchats.
@@PhantomGato-v- 100% agree on the first two things but I think Wilbur actually hat (mostly) good things in mind before he went insane. L'Manburg wasnt build upon lies (at least not the first one) but it ended up becoming one massive lie.
@@Armageddon_71 i reconsidered the theory and came up with a new one: As Wilbur had said before his death, the country was no longer what he wanted it to be: it wasn't the original L'Manburg anymore. So after he blew it up, there was no longer 'a' L'Manburg, but rather two. The first was the true L'Manburg, which is the one Wilbur had built and blown up, and the other is the new L'Manburg, which was built on the ruins of the old one. The old L'Manburg was truthful, and as you have said, normal, yet the second one was completely different: it was called L'Manburg and also had the same flag, same uniform etc... But it is only one big imposter: it would never be the original L'Manburg, thus the lie.
And also, the Doomsday War took place in the second one.

To me, this song really solidifies the fact that the Doomsday War wasn't a war but really a massacre

the fact that its literaly called doomsday and resulted in an entire nation getting chunk errored and seperated should have made it obvious about it not being a war. despite no actual casualties because plot armor...

I mean, Techno was almost killed at one point. It wasn't as one sided as it looked.
I love how the lyrics mention each antagonist in their own way:
Phil is referenced as the angel of death, and with his crows.
Techno was a warrior, hidden within ally lines, who was turned on by a friend (being tommy)
Dream's the interesting one. All the lyrics that don't reference Phil and Techno, seem to reference his idea of a "perfect image under my rule". Judgement day being the one heavily focused with this.
I don’t see Techno or Phil as antagonists but some others may disagree.

@@norincest Techno is an anti-villain, while phil is a villain by proxy. Phil isn't evil, he's just roped into evil by other forces beyond his control. (i.e wilbur's sanity, the doomsday, all that)
@@norincest he said antagonist, not villains. Antagonist is not a term that comments on morality, only meaning one that opposes the protagonist. Since we see them in the 2nd perspective (we look at them head on, they refer to “you” in a few lines) suggests this is POV: you’re about to die.

I really love that even though Tommy and Co had most of the smp on their side against literally just Techno, Dream, and they didn’t even know Phil was helping until like halfway through, they were still terrified of them working together. Like. They had every advantage: home field, they all died and respawned over and over and Techno and Dream and Phil would be defeated if they died once, they all had the time and most of them could have had the resources to fully outfit each other, and they still lost. Like I get the three of them had an actual plan and surprised them early, but Techno and Phil had like, 30 min to prep for this total (excluding the dogs) because Dream revealed his plan so late.
I also love all of them being SO surprised when Phil defects with Techno. Like mate. This corruption led to the death of his son, his house was ransacked, he was put on house arrest and repeatedly shot for standing on his balcony, and you tried to execute his canonical best friend right in front of him. Like??? Bro????
Dream and Technoblade were just regarded (I think rightly given their canon feats) as being so far beyond the rest of the server in terms of power and skill that fighting them head on was ordinarily inconceivable.
L'manburg didn't think they could take Dream pre-exile without recruiting Technoblade, Tubbo later felt like Dream was needed for protection FROM Technoblade, Technoblade proved he was OP by soloing the Butcher army with much less prep than what he had here. Dream and Techno were both also known to be ridiculously "grindy" and prone to having crazy elaborate arsenals (Techno with the withers Tommy knew he had and Dream with the TNT they knew he'd previously had enough of to blow up the country twice).
Tommy wanted to use Techno against Dream and for a while L'manburg were hoping Dream would protect them from Techno (his pledge to side with them in wars etc). They were both so skilled and terrifying they balanced eachother out. So when they teamed up... every immediately panicked. Only Techno beat Dream head on 1v1 and vice verse. That was the thinking. So who could beat the two together? Maybe the whole server collectively? That was what they immediately started saying they'd need.

I don't fully hate techno. But what he did during Doomsday I still don't forgive. Because of three people he decides to destroy an entre country and leave múltiple people wothout a Home. People like Jack, Puffy, Ponk just to name a few, where just defending their homes and didnt deserve nothing of what techno did yo them. He Even took away Jack's life and people just forget about it.
And the worst part is that he never showed remorse for what he did. He fully believes he is in the right and everyone else deserved what happened to them.

He feels no remorse because he knows if he didn't do it, then someone else would've, and not many people would live past it. Maybe Jack's death was an accident, or he thought Jack was getting in the way. He also knew people would rebuild more homes for themselves, so he didn't care if anyone was left without a home. He did what he believed was right. In his eyes, it was the only way to stop more suffering, wars and chaos from happening because of countries. Also, just gonna point out that if the Butcher Army didn't put Philza under house arrest and come after him, threatened his most prized horse and forced one of his only friends to help his enemies execute him because of something he did ages ago, probably under the influence of the voices, nevermind the fact that they lied to him about there being a trial, then he probably wouldn't have helped destroy L'manburg in the first place. This whole time, all his attacks were provoked. Even after the Pogtopia vs Manburg war, when he summoned the withers, it was because he was lied to and used for his strength and items. He was mad about Tommy's betrayal because he trusted him and was willing to fight all those who betrayed him when he needed them the most, but instead Tommy went back to them when given the chance, even though most of them hated him, and still do. In Techno's eyes, Tommy going back to them was the dumbest and most illogical choice he could've made. As for Techno's betrayal, everyone who was on his side during the Pogtopia vs Manburg war saw him as "The Blade", no-one saw him as an actual person with feelings, or as an actual friend, at least, that's how he probably felt when he found out he helped people organise a coup without even knowing it. He also voiced this on Doomsday, when him and Tommy were arguing. That's also why he has like, 2 or 3 actual friends, cause he doesn't trust people as easily anymore. Before, like 4 months ago, I didn't understand why Techno did anything he did, but looking back now, I realise that I probably would do similar things if I were in his shoes, ignoring the fact that irl I'm more of a Pre-Doomsday Ranboo.

They're caught in the lies of the founding fathers, requiring them to become more corrupt. I could go on. This song, especially in comparison to Why, is showing the power and persuasiveness of each perspective. To the Doomsday Trio, they had been hurt by each member and wanted vengeance on the thing that had caused it all. To L'Manberg, they were just having the last thing they had left stripped by them, and seeing Techno/Phil work with their true enemy, Dream, making it to them another betrayal. This is why if you further examine the lyrics you will be able to see the direct comparisons and references to one another between the songs.
(also the 'turn your back on a friend' line could be referencing how Dream manipulated Tommy into thinking that he was his only friend, and Tommy still turned on him, as well as a reference to Techno having Tommy side against him. Derivakat is incredibly good at creating lines with double or even triple meanings).

I just noticed a tiny but beautiful detail. The ticking in the background is the sound of the dispensers raining TNT down on L'Manburg. As someone who's seen the footage, I think the sound is the actual clip from the SMP footage. If this is what Derivakat did, it's one of the finest touches in a song I've ever heard

Techno believed this was justice. Dream never cared about justice. Phil (according to someone on the internet) questioned if Doomsday was too harsh. (GEE IDK PHIL IS DESTROYING A COUNTRY BEYOND REPAIR TOO HARSH?)
It wasnt too harsh though. They never did anything to any of the people. Doomsday was less harsh than the original revolution. Techno only sought to save them from the country which caused them nothing but suffering, and because that was his goal, he never took a canon/real life from any of them. They remained completely unharmed. All he took from them was the symbolic power that tubbo and quackity had exploited to do terrible things in the name of the country

And being a bitch about it. Doomsday was 100% personal. For Techno it was anger for a supposed betrayal by Tommy. For Phil, it was grief over his lost son. And for Dream it was a perfect occasion to destroy his biggest obstacle to absolute power of the server AND a perfect way mess with Tommy ("Your to fun to kill")

The line takes on a dual meaning because it can either be read from the perspective of Techno who genuinely looked at Tommy as a friend or from Dream, who used the guise of being Tommy’s friend to manipulate and abuse him.
