Song is an absolute bop, but when you really listen to the lyrics you can hear how tragic it is. These people haven't had the time to cry and mourn because it's been one war after another, a tragedy following yet another. Picking sides to fight on are all they know and they cant afford to cry over their decisions. Amazing song by the way! Really sets the mood for the DSMP
Exactly! All these characters making mistakes? All these characters switching sides, betraying, having mental breakdowns, turning evil, etc? They're all just lost! Take Tommy for example, literally one of the characters with the most trauma and loss. He's been manipulated the most on the entire server, betrayed the most, literally witnessed his brother, guide, best friend, mentor, his EVERYTHING commit suicide after blowing up one of the only things he knew! And then people still call him the annoying child, the villain even. Niki is another example, she had a mental breakdown after helping with the destruction of L'manberg and Wilbur joining as Ghostbur, and now shes dealing with grief by trying to rid everything that reminds her of Wilbur! There honestly isn't a complete villain on the server. Schlatt and Dream kinda..? Schlatt lost everyone he cared about, was betrayed by everyone, and then got made fun of because he was drinking away his pain. He didn't recieve the help he needed. And then Dream- Remember his speech about attachment? He got rid of literally anything that he cared about. He pushed away friends, He killed his animals.. How can someone stay sane after that? We can get worked up all we want with "villains". Get mad at them, blame them- But nobody started off how they are now.
So this is a little random but does anyone know where I can get videos or something if only the lore from up to now? I came into the fandom kinda late and I have decided I’m done pretending like I know what’s going on and I want to see the acting and feel the heartbreak.

those are my favorite kind of songs they don't specifically go toward something but can relate to so many things that you can change your own pov of it
This sounds like Niki's character, in the Manberg vs. Pogtopia war she didn't know what to do or who to trust, but she kept believing in Wilbur, links to "keep your chin up in the crisis" but Wilbur still blew up Manberg, which is the "Every shoulder you've leaned on is the one you will turn on." Which is what she kind of did. The last two verses link with this in a way I do no know, but they do.
I like the fact that, despite the inspiration from Niki and Jack, the song can be interpreted to fit almost every character. Almost every character has a moment where they aren't sure what side they're on, a moment when the have to struggle through a war and aren't allowed to question what they are fighting for. It can fit almost everyone. I like to think it's a song from everyone's perspective, cause different lines mirror different characters. Lines asking about what they are fighting for could be someone like Ranboo or Niki and Jack, the pressure line can be Techno, Tubbo or Tommy, etc.
id believe that burn it to ashes, watch as it crashes is reference to her burning l’mantree and thereby ending l’manburg because they stopped fighting for it when the tree was gone
@@ABagelLeftOnTheRoadside i kinda think it wasn't his fault everything is so unfair to him and i also think the reason why Fundy didn't side to Phil and Techno that time (canonically) is because he thinks that Phil and Techno might end up like Wilbur as well (but of course Technoblade never dies)

"War is war. Nothing changes. Weapons fight. Men and women lose lives. Buildings destroyed. Resources depleted. The point of war is to show and stop the other side who is better. But in truth... Its pointless... Lives lost... For nothing.."
Ya know this song could represent literally everything on the SMP but I think it especially represents Purpled. "What am I fighting for? Whose side am I on?" If you watch Purpled's perspective of the revolution, you can see he is very unsure. He doesn't understand what the sides are fighting for, and he doesn't know who to support. "Lost everything in the crossfire. Witness the wreckage at dawn." Purpled didn't 'lose everything' but after the war, Mexican L'Manburg began and that went right over Purpled's base. He lost his land basically. And he saw the wreckage at dawn since his front yard is L'Manburg. "Say it enough and you start believing. They can tell you that it's righteous, keep your chin up in the crisis." Karl kept telling Purpled that they were in the right, that they were the good guys. He didn't understand so he would believe anyone if they told him they were the good guys. "Ain't no crying 'cause the fighting's just begun." He watched as L'Manburg got into its many many many battles. He watched as Mexican L'Manburg got bombed. He watched as TNT rained from the sky from the obsidian grid. No matter what happens Purpled has to watch it over and over again. "Burn it to ashes, watch as it crashes. Nobody left to forgive or forget." He watched as it L'Manburg took its final stand. And after it was all said and done, no one was there except an enormous crater. No one was there to fight anymore. And just like that Purpled was left alone, on the edge of the wilderness. "What am I fighting for? What have I done? What am I dying for? What have we all become?" Once again, not know what side to pick and fight for. Watching as everyone descends into madness, fighting over stupid objects or actions. Of course, I know it wasn't meant for Purpled as he is more of a minor character rn. But I loved the song and started to think about it in more depth. :)
This song should be used by SADist when she makes the animation of the fight of the red egg guys vs techno, philza, dream (maybe tommyinnit). But this song is pog champ
Oh that would be awesome, I think she has to still do the final war with Technoblade since she just did Hog Hunt which is before Tommy betrayed Techno, I hope this song is used for that lol (The war with Dream and Techno and Phil blowing up L'Manburg)
"What have we all become" hit me so hard. By now there are no good or innocent people on whole SMP. Like everyone took part in some some kind of revolution, war or became literal monsters, keen on murdering or torturing
Just a reminder before it premieres, if you wanna play the song over and over again instead of giving views to someone who made a loop just look Derivakat's video! This way she'll get the views. If you don't know how to do it just right click the video and choose loop, it'll play the song until you right click and unloop!
I feel like the DreamSMP members can fit for certain lines, for certain parts of their stories. man. she just hits everything right on point. how tired they are with the constant wars, how they don’t have the time to show weakness, the manipulation of Dream, the way that there is constant betrayal because no one’s beliefs line up with anyone else’s. and LET ME TELL YOU, THIS SONG IS SO WELL MADE!!!!
This song doesn't just describe the Dream SMP, it describes the entire speculative political thriller genre... which is a really weird thing to type, since I've never tried to give the Dream SMP a genre before, but that seems to fit.
Even outside of the Dream SMP fanbase, this song provides a great commentary on what it's like to be a soldier, led to fight by propaganda. You walk a mile in a soldier's shoes with this song!
This was my thought exactly! I immedeately started thinking about the Civil war (idk why), being in the camps, listening to people ready to die for their beliefs...
A *LOT* of headcannons in this comment section missed a lot of this song. This song doesn't only point to a specific character, it points to all of L'manberg and it's leaders, as well as the Pogtopian leaders. The lyric "Say it enough and they'll start believing" "If you say that its righteous" and "They'll drill it into your head" is mostly referencing to the Leaders aka: Wilbur and Schlatt who manipulated their own men who trusts them the most, covering up their main personal priority with "its the for the right cause". This is all in both Tommy and L'manberg's point of view when their own Leaders proved that they weren't thinking for them but for the Leaders only. The Lyrics " Make you Live through the pain" " Sacrifice you for nothing" "We're still dying in vain" is referenced to the people of L'manberg when they were all down and losing hope after the First War, even if they lived through death and destruction, they know they're still gonna die somewhere soon because of betrayal and manipulation from their so called "Leaders". Btw, my personal look through this is that I think the Anarchists/Syndicate should take out all causes of this. Mainly because the Eggpire is one massive exposed sheet of manipulation.
It's kinda sad how corrupt L'manberg became almost immediately after it was established. Like it was founded for freedom, and immediately the founders started wanting power, which backfired, allowing someone a million times more evil than them to be democratically elected, then after their military coup, they installed the most innocent person among them, and he became the most corrupt leader the SMP had ever seen, along with a terrible cabinet literally called the f*cking BUTCHER'S ARMY. Eret was right. It truly was never meant to be
@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 I never understood this “freedom” element to founding of L’Manburg that people talk about. It was never their. The sole reason why the nation was founded was because Wilbur wanted a way to separate the Europeans from Americans. He said this all through the Revolution and even the election arc. Everyone I talk to about this has their memory go flat and I don’t understand how.
What I love about this song is that it works outside the context of the Dream SMP. Hell, i'd argue it works even better, it sounds like it's written as an anti-war song more than anything from the Dream SMP. This could easily fit in any time period with war present, a disillusioned soldier growing more and more cynical realizing the futility of their efforts.
Dear Technoblade, The war is over and we have finally shed our tears some tears still fall and many still come to my eyes. The memories you created will remain here and we will make sure.... that the Legend of the Blade never dies. Thank you Sincerely, Your Fans
I keep on seeing "can we just appreciate" (which sounds accusing) and it's nice to see a "dear technoblade" instead with a specification that this is coming from his fanbase, not one person. Thank you
"Every shoulder you have leaned on is the one you will turn on" is such a great quote for the smp. There have been so many personal conflicts between friends and betrayals and this line describes it perfectly
You cannot convince me that this song is not about Ranboo. "What am I fighting for? Who's side am I on?" Ranboo didn't pick a side in the initial war. "Lost everything in the crossfire. Witnessed the wreckage at dawn." Everything Ranboo owned was blown up with L'Manberg. "Say it enough and you start believing." All the signs in the panic room and all the times he tells himself that he isn't the bad guy. "In the division, make your decision. Every shoulder that you've leaned on is the one you will turn on." Ranboo has stated that he has (unintentionally) betrayed everyone that trusted him at one point or another, and it is in the memory book. "What am I fighting for? What have I done?" He doesn't want to take a side because he doesn't want to be against or hurt anyone. Also, his memory problems and the fact he often can't remember the things he's done. You can't convince me that this song isn't about Ranboo. EDIT: I KNOW IT ISN'T ABOUT RANBOO, STOP TELLING ME THAT. I WAS EXPRESSING MY THOUGHTS YALL
This song is for the minor people that no one cares about At the time ranboo too but this song is the people that lost things on the war but no one cared
"Make you live through the pressure Make you live through the pain Sacrifice you for nothing We’re still dying in vain" is such a raw ass group of lines I Can't.

Over two whole years. The first song that introduced me to this channel. So many wins, so many losses, and yet... we're still here. Nothing will *ever* force us to stop doing the hobbies we love most. I'm so very proud of everyone that's still here. You all are so strong, and I'm proud of you all for pushing through whatever has made you struggle, and I hope that you will all have amazing lives. I know this may be a bit sappy, but just know that there are still people you haven't met that love and care about you. Cherish those that you know, and shove as much negativity out of your life as you can. Your war may not have started yet, but just know that you are all loved by me, even if I don't know who you are. I wish you all as much positivity as possible. You can win your wars. I know it.
This song kinda gives me The Score vibes (If you don't know who The Score is, it's a band (a really good band). I recommend go seeing some of their songs!)
"I can barely hear a sound, it's faded All the words you used to say Tried to keep me down, I'm elevated No more rain on this parade I went deep inside, where monsters hide To free my mind, and come out alive Tell me when you kicked me did you ever think that I would get up? Can you hear me now so loudly I'm screaming at the top of my lungs Can you see me now so proudly Looking up at what I've become" Just did all that from memory. Am I right? Idk. "Can you hear me now" is the only song I know from the score but just based on that one I can confirm.
"Sacrifice you for nothing" is such a simple but great line cos it fits both those who were loyal and those who were traitors. Tommy wouldn't sacrifice L'Manberg for anything but Fundy would sacrifice it for literally no personal gain
I stared playing this song on repeat 2 hours ago, and now i have an entire story in my brain, about two friends forced to fight against eachother in a war. It has betrayal, and epic fights, and plot twists, and everything. Now i cant stop thinking about their backstory and how the story plays out, and i wouldnt have tought a song could inspire me so much. Your song is epic. You are amazing.
It reminds me of 3rd Life. "What am I fighting for?" Is because they are just fighting. "Whose side am I on?" Is for those who have to pick a side. "Lost everything in the cross fire, witnessed the wreckage at dawn." Is how they keep losing lives and are fighting for stuff (example: the cows, they killed them all and suffered the result.) "Say it enough and you start believing." They believe it is for good. "Keep your chin up in the crisis." Stay positive through the death. "Ain't no crying till the war's done." They don't have time to cry.
Yes, it’s such an interesting concept that almost mirrors that rules of the DSMP in some ways Like, a certain amount of lives, being able to give someone a life vs bringing them back to life, betrayal and friendships, AND SO MUCH CHOAS!!

This one song can be interpreted for almost any plot points in the dream smp that has happened or will happen in the future because this song perfectly portrays an antihero, which is the basis of all characters in the dream smp. No ones a hero or a villain, they are all right from their own perspective. So this song can represent any character in the smp for any plot point and it would be true, and this is why the dream smp is so entertaining.
I’m going to be completely honest- when you put all the smp songs onto Spotify they are going straight onto my liked songs playlist cause they’re all bops
This song is so nostalgic: I saw a video with an animatic with this song in it 2 years ago. Now that the dsmp has ended all that comes to my mind is the saying; don't cry cause it's over, smile because it happened.

Surprise, Surprise. Derivakat tweeted that the song was inspired from Niki and Jack's experiences
Yes!

Ya know this song could represent literally everything on the SMP but I think it especially represents Purpled.
"What am I fighting for? Whose side am I on?"
If you watch Purpled's perspective of the revolution, you can see he is very unsure. He doesn't understand what the sides are fighting for, and he doesn't know who to support.
"Lost everything in the crossfire. Witness the wreckage at dawn."
Purpled didn't 'lose everything' but after the war, Mexican L'Manburg began and that went right over Purpled's base. He lost his land basically. And he saw the wreckage at dawn since his front yard is L'Manburg.
"Say it enough and you start believing. They can tell you that it's righteous, keep your chin up in the crisis."
Karl kept telling Purpled that they were in the right, that they were the good guys. He didn't understand so he would believe anyone if they told him they were the good guys.
"Ain't no crying 'cause the fighting's just begun."
He watched as L'Manburg got into its many many many battles. He watched as Mexican L'Manburg got bombed. He watched as TNT rained from the sky from the obsidian grid. No matter what happens Purpled has to watch it over and over again.
"Burn it to ashes, watch as it crashes. Nobody left to forgive or forget."
He watched as it L'Manburg took its final stand. And after it was all said and done, no one was there except an enormous crater. No one was there to fight anymore. And just like that Purpled was left alone, on the edge of the wilderness.
"What am I fighting for? What have I done? What am I dying for? What have we all become?"
Once again, not know what side to pick and fight for. Watching as everyone descends into madness, fighting over stupid objects or actions.
Of course, I know it wasn't meant for Purpled as he is more of a minor character rn. But I loved the song and started to think about it in more depth. :)

man. she just hits everything right on point. how tired they are with the constant wars, how they don’t have the time to show weakness, the manipulation of Dream, the way that there is constant betrayal because no one’s beliefs line up with anyone else’s. and LET ME TELL YOU, THIS SONG IS SO WELL MADE!!!!
They wouldn't have these songs if they didn't make the storys
@@landon4104 Huh? You talking about the Dream SMP members? I know that. What does that have to do with my comment?
She's so fast at making songs her last song was released just 2 days ago! You're amazing Derivakat

AINT NO CRYING TIL THE WARS DONE-
I love this song qwq
What I love about this song is that it works outside the context of the Dream SMP. Hell, i'd argue it works even better, it sounds like it's written as an anti-war song more than anything from the Dream SMP. This could easily fit in any time period with war present, a disillusioned soldier growing more and more cynical realizing the futility of their efforts.
" *Every shoulder you have leaned on is the one you will turn on* "
Damn, that hurts
“Say it enough and you’ll start believin” that made me think of the quote “it was never meant to be”. Because of how many people say it

"Every shoulder you have leaned on is the one you will turn on" is such a great quote for the smp. There have been so many personal conflicts between friends and betrayals and this line describes it perfectly
did I spend 2 hours trying to do the 'what am I dying for?' riff?
yes.
was it successful?
define successful.

Cherish those that you know, and shove as much negativity out of your life as you can. Your war may not have started yet, but just know that you are all loved by me, even if I don't know who you are. To free my mind, and come out alive
