I like the detail of Antfrost not having any weapons but instead being concealed by a cloak, because he’s less of a fighter and more of a gatherer and uses his head more, like when he kills Dream with the harming potions.

Our fireborn baby is the best hunter and it's a fact.
Just the most consistently good hunter, others either have great moments, or are a supportive hunter.
I wonder how well sapnap would do as the speedrunner. If he practiced, he would probably be able to do what dream has done honestly. Dream seems like he has the advantage so much only because they do many many attempts for a good recording.

@@induminamapa4277 in his analysis livestream of 5 hunter grand finale, he was talking like "when we were recording yesterday" and how he edits in the reactions from the first time either side saw a cool trick from the other. It definitely seems like they do many attempts each time.

Probably my favorite thing about this song is that the lyrics have no direct references to Minecraft. Even though the song is very clearly based on Dream's Minecraft manhunts, it could really describe any type of manhunt or chase.

Thats what i love about derivakat, there is often no direct references but there are subtle ones, like in doomsday "the crows are calling for disaster" is a line that anyone Can understand because well its the apocalypse ofc there are crows but if you know more about the dsmp you understand the crows are phil's chat. So many subtle hints yet no direct references so anyone can listen to them regardless of if they are part of the fandom or not

Can we talk about how every person’s run cycle is different? They give off their own unique personalities just through a looping animation. Truly impressive! /gen
at the end of the running animation sam gets a head despite being at the back as if he were lagging behind to save hunger good attention to detail in my opinion

George is running with sword in hand but he is pumping his arms in time with foot steps.
Bad is running with arm tense on his sword in order to seemingly do an overhead swing if he got close.
Antfrost has no weapon but in return seems to run faster than the others with faster paw steps.
Sam has his axe in hand and has a good grip on it but has a more steady pace than the others, he's also taller too.
Sapnap on the other hand is running with a steady pace arm is gripping sword but the arm itself is loose so he is ready to swing at any angle and it screams how each of them likes to play in the manhunts themselves.
Truly it is impressive and beautiful

I think one of the most unique things about Derivakat is that they make music that can be enjoyed by people who aren’t a part of the Dream SMP fandom! But if you do know the lore and stuff it makes you appreciate it just a bit more!

i really like how the hunters speed shows how well they do, like how Sapnap is the biggest threat in the early game and the strongest in a one on one, so is almost always in the front
Meanwhile you have Sam who stays in the back because he will likely figure out what Dreams crazy plan is and will try to warn the other hunters
Bad is nearly always in the middle of the pack and does his best to form plans of attack and coordinate with the others
Ant is near the back which shows how he is more likely to split off to gather materials and food not often fighting dram unless attacked or cornered
Finally George much like Sapnap is quite aggressive in the early game but is far more likely to be killed quickly due to overextending or being tricked
At least this is how i remember most manhunts going
I noticed this too!
There weapons are also telling. Sapnap, George, and Bad all have swords. As the three original hunters, they have the most experience getting weapons easily. Sapnap and Bad have their sowrds down ready to swing, ready to fight, while George's is currently more of an afterthought as he runs, ready to pull backup if needed.
Sam meanwhile has an axe, not as strong as the sword, but more useful and technical, while also being a descent weapon in its own right. He'll just as quickly gather items and hang back as he will fight.
Meanwhile Ant is seemingly weaponless. However we can't see his hands during the entire thing, hidden by his cloak. This could signifu his more willingness to hang back, not engaging in rhee fights much and more playing as a home base of sorts, but it could also reflect his secrecy in his comvat capabilities, and willingness to use unconventional fighting styles, like potions. He could be unarmed, or he could be holding an armful of potions. We'll never know
when you think about it, this song wouldn't exist without a virtual game with no circles...

Can we just talk about the fact that each player at different speeds is shown with the chat bubbles and the fact that they coordinated sapnap and george towards the front more actually shows how much of a threat they were to dream since they were always first time find him?

I love the symbolism in the animation
0:33 - Every time it hits a moment like this, it shows off each of their skills and personalities. Sapnap, by himself (the one who can 1v1 Dream alone), wielding a sword and taunting him.
Georgenotfound with his sword at the ready (always trying to keep on Dream) along with BBH who has no weapon (He relies on his smarts)
Awesamdude carries an axe (acting mainly as the support character), and Antfrost a potion (He is the "resource monkey", ultimate end game character
In the first chase, Georgenotfound leads the hunt (He's very brave honestly, and constantly tries to track Dream)
Sapnap takes the lead (Best fighter of the team)
BBH runs ahead of Antfrost and Sam (Ant and Sam are late game players or support characters, BBH is known to clutch as a Hunter) and eventually matches pace with Sapnap
In the second chase, Sapnap now leads with George almost matching pace with him (I suppose to show them fighting Dream)
BBH eventually overatakes them all (He acts as leader a lot of the time)
Ant and Sam keep pace with each other as George and Sap fall behind (Late game and support characters come in handy)
In the third and last chase, Sapnap leads (Usually both him and Dream have really good gear and duel it out)
George, BBH, and Ant constantly overtake each other, demonstrating their usefulness to the Hunter team. Eventually Ant leads both of them (Late game character comes in clutch with a LOT of loot)
George second (Supporting sapnap)
BBH third (Played his role)
and of course, Awesamdude at the last (idk why honestly)

Actually, Badboyhalo is holding a sword as well. But unlike Sapnap holding it with his palm away from himself, he's holding his palm towards himself. So while Sapnap would be ready to raise his arm up and a hard down slash, BBH would do a side swipe. Which still fits the theme of Sapnap being the raw damage and BBH being more methodical. And of course George pumping both arms, including his sword arm, shows his enthusiastic but reckless behavior.
And for the last chase with Sam in the back, his axe also represents the ultimate threat due to how much more damage it does, meaning that him staying behind is also in preparation to put a finishing blow on Dream if any other Hunter manages to deal damage.

Sam probably was last due to him being the last hunter added. he doesn't have as much experience, so he's following the lead of the others, while still providing his own special skills to the team.
It's also worth noting that George and Sapnap were the original Hunters, especially George. So having them be in front at the start of the chase could be symbolic of their roles as the originals.

I love how at 1:22 there's that echoing yell on words that accompanies the main melody with "CLIMB" from the lowest lows and "FALL" from the highest highs this "MANHUNT", it really adds to the feel and its overall such a great technique in general

I could totally see this being an anime, with Dream each episode working to survive and get closer to the Ender Dragon. Love the echo on "climb" and "fall", echoing their contrast.
Also love how when the chorus starts and you can see the Hunters catching up to Dream, Sapnap and George are at the front as they usually are the ones fighting Dream the most, while Bad catches up cus he's usually support but is a great fighter too, and Antfrost and Sam are near the back cus they usually gather resources and set traps up!

@@thatguythere6161 SapNap is the 2nd hunter in the series. That's why he appears after George who was the 1st hunter in the 1st manhunt, But SapNap is very well agreed upon to be the best hunter. Always the one chasing Dream down in front of the other hunters, Always ending up in a 1V1 against him (Like the Lava Duel or Horse Jousting)He's the resident leader of The Hunters, So having him overtake everyone and getting closest to Dream makes sense

I love the little detail of Sapnap usually being the one to lead the pack since he's typically the one who keeps up with Dream the best, as well as Sam and Ant in the back since Ant usually stays behind to collect supplies and Sam is the more "inexperienced" hunter so he'd have a harder time keeping up with the rest. Cool little details :D

i like the fact that sapnap is the fastest one chasing dream in the animation, this is because he sacrificed his life to end dream on the last manhunt, love it
edit: i realized that the hunters are fast in order for the manhunts, the first strofe is sapnap and george running, the second strofe is george running and then sapnap, and the last one is only sapnap in order on the manhunts, i LOVE that type of details, a masterpiece

I know this song is about minecraft manhunts, but i also interpreted it as a constant chase of your internal demons trying to get inside your head... the chase is never-ending and we have to "keep running on and on until the end of time" to beat them.
Idk if the lyrics were supposed to have multiple meanings, but this one really resonates with me as a person who overcame depression :)
All of the running cycles reflect all of them:
Dream normally finds a way to outrun the other hunters, replicating the way he runs
Sapnap and Geroge always chase after him first, but normally die too early because they either got too cocky that Dream was going to die or Dream tricked them
Bad is in the middle because he warns the others of what Dream is doing, and comes with the others for the kill.
Ant doesn't really fight, he collects things.
Awesamdude stays in the back to find Dreams plan and alert the others, while trying to kill him at the same time. Also, he may be saving hunger bars so that he can sprint when it's truly needed.
