  • Peter Frampton, the legendary guitarist whose 1976 record, "Frampton Comes Alive," is still one of the best-selling live albums of all time, has revealed that he will stop touring because of a rare degenerative muscular disease. The musician announced on Friday that his next tour will be his last. He opens up for the first time about his condition in an interview with “CBS This Morning: Saturday” co-host Anthony Mason.

So I saw Frampton in 78 at the Rochester (NY) War Memorial, it was my first concert ever. Amazing... I spent every penny I had to bring my girl.,,, 40 years later, she is sitting right next to me, more beautiful than ever. We all look for patterns and benchmarks, the time and sound Peter made for us was the foundation of our everlasting love.

Great for you and your gal. I saw PF in '77 same venue with my Webster Gf but today she's by someone else's side. Lol! Nevertheless, great show, and still a HUGE PF fan. Listen to "Don't Fade Away" from Frampton's Camel, amazing song, amazing solo!

Frampton is an undisputed guitar master, he's also funny and quite modest. On August 4th, I'll see him for the 7th time since I was in 7th grade back in 1976.

That's the most BEAUTIFUL thing that I have ever heard! I have beaten Hodgkin's disease TWICE... and have underwent heart surgery. I am good to go now... and have worked in the medical field... I like helping others. Was a medic on a rescue squad for 4 years... and have been a dialysis technician for 18 years.

He has always been such a hard worker. Does his recording in his own studio in his house. He wrote most of his own songs and is one of best guitarist's of all time. Most aren't touring at his age if they are healthy and it just proves what a hard worker he is and how much he loves performing. Also I am very sad that one of my hero's is sick.

What a great guy. My childhood would not be the same without his music. Funny how Karma works.... Just pulled into my driveway as Do You Feel Like We Do comes on the radio. I sat in my car with my dog and listened to the entire track before coming inside...I was singing, she was howlin'. I sit down inside and this is the first thing UA-cam recommends! Mind you I am not happy he is ill. Just, how the universe knew I needed to here and to know about Frampton today. God Speed P.F.!

This broke my heart. I've been a HUGE fan of Peter, since I was 5 (In my mid-30s now), and have had the pleasure of seeing/meeting him a couple of times.
Really cool and humble guy, and it saddens me, as a guitar player, that he has to suffer through something like this.
He's the main reason I started playing, and he is, and should be an inspiration to all present, and future players.
Thanks for the memories, and the inspiration, Peter. You're the best!

I met Frampton in 2014 when he played at the Skynyrd tribute show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Sat in the green room with him while he trimmed his nails. He signed my "Frampton Comes Alive" CD, one of my prized possessions now. If they ever had a Mount Rushmore for guitar gods, he be up there, along with Clapton, Page, Beck, and many others.

As a fellow musician, I can say he's one of my heroes. Gifted guitarist, pretty good singer and writer. My wife was diagnosed with MS about 5 yrs ago, and in addition to a drug called Tysabri, that has done wonders for her, she has completely altered her diet and added a slew of great supplements. Aside from the fact she occasionally gets tired, you'd never know she had the disease. I hope he gets good advice from not only allopaths (traditional Western medicine), but also from naturopaths.

So sad to hear this about Peter. One of the greatest guitarists ever. And he seems like a great guy. And he still can have a sense of humor with this hanging over his head! It's. sad watching our musical icons lose their abilities. Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond, and now Peter. Bless you and best of luck in that drug trial to find something that can help you

The one, the only Peter Frampton. A true original and some one who's playing i've loved since '72 when i bought Humble Pies Rockin' The Fillmore in '72. Grateful i saw him 4 times at Winterland (Comes Alive DYFLWD night) then with 'Skynyrd for DOG '77. I love his positive out look and hope he swings by the Bay Area.

He has made the best live album EVER. But, unfortunately, no one wanted studio tracks from Frampton before or after. It was a blessing and a curse. I play guitar, and I would be amiss if I did not say that Mr. Peter Frampton is one of the best and most original players to ever take the stage. He is the player of a six-string weapon of mass-destruction. Shredding is for 11 year old boys. Real guitar players use the 7 notes as their donation to the gift of playing the best instrument on earth. Thank you Peter!

Sad news re: PF. Maybe now Jann Wenner will stop blackballing him from the RRHOF, where he should have been inducted decades ago. Would love to see him play at the ceremony while he still can. Keep Coming Alive Peter!

Alex Lifeson of RUSH said it best about the RRHoF when he said "blah, blah, blah." If you don't know what I'm referring to, look it up, you'll probably agree with him. I, do!

Fk the RRHOF. They're not worthy of Peter Frampton.

@@GoogleAccount-cj6gy even better was when Alex said it. The proverbial middle finger though fan pressure finally got the RHOF to accept them.
